Hi.

I have read in several threads that Yonex grip sizes runs larger than other brands and i'm wondering if anyone can confirm if that trend continues With the VCORE Pro 97 line? I'm currently With Dunlop L4 and wondering what size will be best on the VCORE Pro.

I just switched to the vcore pro 97 from a Tecnifibre 315ltd. Grip size seems accurate on yonex. Not bigger or smaller. More of a rounded shape vs the rectangular Head grip that's on the tec.

Just got two VCore Pro 97 310's in grip size 3. Def not larger than other brands. I agree it feels rounder, more along the lines of Prince.

I've heared that some years ago, Yonex increased the actual size of their pallets and put on very thin standard replacement grips to compensate, resaulting in correct overall grip size. Meaning, that if you replace the standard replacement grip with one of avarage size, the grip size will blow up.

correct. My ai98 3/8 with a thin TW Leather felt like 1/2s or even a smidge larger

I think what makes Yonex grips feel bigger compare to some is the lack of butt..
I always have to built up the butt a little on theirs..
I just take an overgrip, wrap 1 time around, cut to length. fold in half, tape in place, Add overgrip..

I remember thinking the AI98/100 were a bit oversized, but def not the VCore Pro 97's.

Yonex grip is no doubt rounder than Head, par example. I think about laying two thin cardboard planks on bevel 1 and 5 under the overgrip.
anyone has tried that?

ok, just did. wrapped on the old overgrip several times over the end of the handle to make it bulky, cover the planks with rest, then wrapped on the overgrip. feels much more handy and crisper.

If you replace a Yonex grip with another brand grip, it's going to be larger. If you look at Yonex replacement grips, they are 1.60mm thick, while the other brands range from 1.75-1.95mm thick. So, I'm guessing that the bare handle of a Yonex racket is larger than other brands.
