AO 2009 final

This result gives Fed a really good win over a really good Nadal and probably tips the scales a bit in the rivalry. Look at it as Fed "halting" Nadal's momentum that he'd gained in 2008.

It also likely gives Fed a NCYGS from US Open 2008 to Wimbledon 2009, though I do wonder how the very tight Wimbledon 2009 final would play out with Fed playing for four Slams in a row. I'd assume not that differently because he did have the weight of the Slam record on his shoulders on him and still eked out the win, but it's worth debating at least.

The downside would be Nadal never getting his AO which would be incredibly unlucky for someone with that many good runs at the tournament.

Seles vs Graf in her comeback Slam USO 95

Or vs Sanchez Vicaro in the 98 FO right after her father passed away.

Would only need to change, I believe, a single point in each match to change the outcome.

Maybe RG12 Final out of tremendous respect for Rafa on clay.
NCYGS.
3 RG titles and victories over Rafa.
RG title in the early 10s. Pretty much the only slam Nole is missing in a certain period.

I tried to visualize how Steffi could lose two sets in the 95 USO final.
Didn't work.

I'll remember this, trying to take away AO from Nadal

roddick-federer wimbledon 2009 - really wanted roddick to get that wimbledon trophy once

next up would be wimbledon 2019 final, never really rooted hardcore for fed, but would have loved for him to get that one last big win.

Well, she did lose one set 0-6 and could have lost another one had Hawkeye been around at the time to overturn the out call of Monica’s serve at 6-5 in the tiebreaker. Soooo……not hard to visualize, unless one is the blindest of partisans.

Yes why couldn't the results of both Wimbledon 2009 and Wimbledon 2019 be changed. I am sure even Fed fans would take that scenario in a heartbeat (especialy as he actually has 1 more slam than Djoker then).

Roddick winning ‘04 Wimbledon (no offense Fed fans) could have changed his entire career, instead he fired Gilbert and becomes a non-aggressive mug who lays down to Roger whenever he sees him on the other side of the court.

He could have saved American tennis.

Other than that, Federer converting MPs vs ‘05 Safin because I’m tired of hearing how Safin has the highest HC peak ever lol.

Nothing gave me more pain than 40-15 loss. If that is corrected I'm more than happy with Fed' career even if Djokovic goes on to win 25 Slams.

RG 2006 / 2007 for me I think. A CYGS for Fed in the middle of his absolute prime, and a win against Clay GOAT Rafa at the peak of his powers, is hard to say no to.

Other great options include wimbledon 2008, AO 2009, and Wimbledon 2019.

The thing about 2019 is I don’t think it will do as much for his Legacy as some of the other ones on the list. Sure, an incredible exclamation point on the career, and keeps Novak slightly further away, but I think a win against rafa at his absolute best would do more.

1980 US Open Final

Borg beats McEnroe, goes to Australia to complete the Grand Slam. The confidence swing doesn't happen so Borg also wins 1981 Wimbledon and 1981 US, chooses not to retire and becomes the slam record holder, finally retiring as the universally acknowledged GOAT just before the 1985 season and the arrival of the graphite bashers.

The problem with this scenario is, if the result was reversed we wouldn't know the pain ever existed. Fed would have one more title and a glorious end to his career but Djoko is more than likely to break the record anyway.

As tempting as it is to reverse W19, the rational thing is to give Fed a French Open in '06 or '07 thus giving him a CYGS. History would probably have counted that as equal or better to Djoko being +1 in the final count. If Agassi had got to 13 slams his Career Slam would likely have seen him being considered equal or better than Sampras.

Way back when, HS tennis match, junior year. 3rd set tiebreaker, and as memory serves, we used a 9-point tiebreaker. Of course, my match went the longest, so everyone was watching the end, and we were 4-all in the breaker. Oh, our teams split the other four matches. I had an easy to medium overhead to win (or lose) for myself and the team. I potted it into the net.

Nobody else cares, but me ..carry on.

As for a real answer, I'm trying to think beyond Big 3, and GOAT talk. Must be many.

i really would like to know if seles serve at 6:5 in the first set tiebreak was really out. it looked like an ace, but was called out. maybe the most biggest line mistake in the history of women tennis.

Everyone wants to take away the ones Nadal won lol

Can't believe no one is choosing USO 09, how was that not a big blow in the most winnable match for Federer? At least with Wimb 08 Nadal was 2 sets up and AO 09 he played the good tennis

I'd be fuming with USO 09 - 6th USO in a row, Open Era record, 4 in a row too...3 slams won on 3 diff surfaces in 09
