So, two French junior players get through the qualies at TMS Paris. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, being given a wildcard into the qualifying, beat Potito Starace (ranked 76th) and Xavier Malisse (ranked 50th) and next plays Mario Ancic in the first round of the main draw.
Gael Monfils was also given a wildcard into the qualies, and beat Anthony Dupuis (80th) and Nicolas Mahut (114th). He next plays Thomas Enqvist in the first round of the main draw.

Just a little update on them. They're proving themselves to be on par with the top 100 pros, moving up in the rankings.

Obviously tennis isn't a sport that has historically attracted many minorities in the united states. It's pretty interesting how france was quite a few up-and-coming minority players (monfils, tsonga, and Josselyn Ouanna, who lost to monfils in the junior aus. open final). Not sure if anyone knows, but has France done much to encourage minority youngsters to play tennis? I think it's great for the sport to have diversity within the professional ranks.
