Let’s compare the above mid career players on their accomplishment so far.

Berdych
Berdych was part of the young guns, with Badgy and Gasquet. Much hype was expected from him, esp after his win over Federer in the 2004 Olympic. He didn't achieve what Badgy and Gasquet on slam level until this week, but sure was more consistent compared to the two. Could 2010 be the breakthrough year for him?
1st slam SF in RG 2010

Soderling
Sod was along side with Pimp Pimp as two of the Sweden hopefuls as Bjorkman and Enqvist were fading out. Sod was in the shadow of Pimp Pimp earlier on. Now PP is gone and Soderling carry the entire nation under his shoulder. He did better on big stage compared to Berdych
1 slam final and 1 slam SF (at least)

Tsonga
it hard to believe Tsonga is the same age of Sod and Berdych as it seem JWT only show up in 2008, more likely with the age group of Murray and Djoker. It is because Tsonga was considered as a late boomer. Fewer titles than Berdych and Sod, but consider he only start winning in 2008
1 slam final and 1 slam SF

Youzhny and Robredo
These two are a bit older than the above three, pretty consistent and usually under the radar. Robredo had more titles than Youzhny and had a breakthrough year in 2006. Also he has the best result in doubles among the group.
not sure if Robredo had any slam SF
no slam SF for Youzhny iirc

I would take Soderling for what he has accomlished by beating Nadal and Fed. He got to a French final too which is more than those others can say.

Soderling, especially since he has a shot to actually win the French Open right now.....besides that, he broke two streaks at the French, taking away Nadal's chance at 5 FO's in a row, and Federer's semi streak.

Soderling is the latest bloomer of the bunch, but could be the most sucessful. Tsonga's next because hes been in the top 10 for the past 2 years. Then Robredo because of consistency on clay. Then Berdych, then Youhzny

No need for another Soderling glorification thread lol, his career kills those guys in the last year alone.

not intend to glorify Sod, i don't know it's only me or not, I always like Berdych game better than Sod. Sod's game is rigid and unorthodox, esp the serve, like reaching up for the candy jag. Granted it's powerful, and it's what take it to win.

Berdych is like a smoother Safin, plus a healthier Delpo. I really wish he and Cilic can rule the tennis world in the future

It's obvious who has had the better career and who will have the better career. Soderling for sure. How on earth that guy hasn't won a slam yet i do not know.

Hold on, Tsonga too has a Slam semi and Final. ANd he's actually won a Master Series event. I'd go with Tsonga.

If Soderling gets to the final at least, then you cannot deny that what he has done is a remarkable feat. To beat the clay court goat, in a staduim where no one really takes 4 games a set off him but to actually back it up with his win over the goat of this era puts him ahead of Tsonga.
