Nope. I misread it. Wasn't a Delgado tweet. It's a tweet from a reporter - Stu Fraser, who said Delgado told him - retweeted by Simon Cambers, another reporter.

Good, Novak didn't play Monte Carlo and Wimbledon. So, it is okay for Andy to skip one as well.
Yep found the tweet....very interesting and while he's defending champion points aren't really an issue due to him picking up almost the equivalent of what he'll lose after his Wimbledon win. Yes of course it's still points which will drop and which he will forfeit in regards to the "Race"...guess he rates defending his OG as a higher priority....in which case good on him!
If true he'll likely be training at Nadal's new Academy which is predominately HC's.

Just had a look and that is quite incredible...I still struggle to see Djokovic losing his number 1 ranking anytime soon but if Murray can maintain consistency and Djokovic suffers another early exit or two...then anything is possible!

Murray sets his own goals - even said recently the '75 year drought at Wimbledon' didn't bother him - he didn't care (wasn't alive for most of it). Having #1 for a few weeks isn't that big of a deal. Moya did it! Does anyone (sane person, that is) think he had a better career than Murray?

Really? Surprising move from Murray. Defending champ and all, edging closer to Djokovic in the race, I'd figured he'd want to play. He's already won Olympic gold, and in front of his crowd at that, but I guess he thinks it's still more important.

Murray can focus on next year...think he will reach number 1....too good not to. When the likes of the Slamless Rios ( should have won that AO against Doperda) got it.
He is just as tired as Novak.....

Toronto - Rio - Real Slam is going to be a very difficult swing.
Basically the top guys have to figure out which of the three they're going to skip. And going into Rio without any hardcourt matches under their belt might be very, very risky.
Conversely, whoever of the big 4 crashes out of the Olympics early will probably be a lock to win the Real Slam. And it sadly won't be Rogi as he's got a great chance for a medal in mixed.
So it says here that this may be Muzziah's year at the Real Slam.

Blow to Murray getting #1 for any amount of time this year or finish at YE 1. Novak likely to get the 1k Master's points now or at least 600 while Murray gets nothing. By the time USO rolls around, if ND wins that, the YE1 will be virtually over. Even if AM wins US, if he beats ND to do it (rather likely both of them are in the final), he may still well be behind in the race with the indoor/YEC to come which Novak has ruled for years.
Rather odd choice, as a Djoko fan I can't complain. I guess people will say it was a good decision if AM wins Olympics, especially since it's obvious that Novak wants it badly. Of course, if I could only have 1 thing for ND, I'd take the USO over number 1, but if ND wins USO, he's pretty much a lock for 1 anyway.

This will have him nice and fresh for the the Olympics and he is not just going there to defend his signles title. He is planning on winning Gold with his brother in the doubles. Which would be huge. It isn't all about Andy it is about getting his brother an Olympic (gold) medal which would be a career highlight.

I'm not surprised. I actually expect other players to follow that up. Top players won't play Toronto, Olympics, Cincinnati in pretty much back to back weeks and then be exhausted for the last slam of the season. With or without Olympics, players usually don't give much of a rats ass about the Robbers/Rogers Cup .

It wouldnt be a bad idea, Murray went far in all of the clay and grass tournaments, he needs and deserves some rest.
As for the #1 ranking, there is no reason for him not to be able to chase it next year.

The future is digital- if people want to watch the match, they can simply watch it on TV or on the internet. And if the hypothetical tournament insists on seating spectators, then I'm sure it would be easy for them to fashion makeshift seats, or some kind of ramps around the courts where spectators can stand (Nadal is one of the few tennis players in the world worth standing for).
