Post your new RF97 measurements here: Wilson quality control

I'm really enjoying my new RF's as they are so much easier to swing than all my previous first generation RF's----- and I had about 10 of the previous ones.

Now I know why, I measured the swing weight today.

Both frames stock with leather grip, 18g volkl cyclone, wilson overgrip, panda dampener

Frame 1:
Static weight: 358 grams
10pts hl
swing weight: 317

Frame 2:
Static weight: 357 grams
11pts hl
swing weight: 314

They are easier to swing with a little less plow. So this time the quality control variance worked in my favor. LOL. Perfect for customizing!!!

All spec'd pretty much the same. Though I'm surprised how low the swing weight is on all three of them.

2014 white/silver butt cap with Wilson Pro overgrip, rubber band and Hyper G strings
Weight: 364
SW: 325
Flex: 70
Balance: 10 pts HL

2014 red/silver butt cap with Wilson Pro overgrip, rubber band and Tour Bite strings
Weight: 361
SW: 325
Flex: 69
Balance: 10 pts HL

2016 with Wilson Pro overgrip, rubber band and Kirschbaum Pro Line II strings (TW tan leather grip replaced the stock black Wilson leather grip)
Weight: 362
SW: 323
Flex: 69
Balance: 9 pts HL

2016 Unstrung stock

Weight: 12.000oz (~340g)
Blance: 11.5 pts hl

Same 2016 Unstrung with grip double wrapped at base to expand buttcap flare:

Weight: 12.000oz
Balance 12 pts hl

Same racket strung (ngut+poly 16g)+og came out to ~12.8oz (363g) 9.5hl swingweight not measured but felt 340ish

I have 5 of the previous ones-- when strung and OGd, I have 2 at 12.8 oz, 1 at 12.9, and 2 at 13.0 oz. The only one that is an "outlier" is a 13.0 oz one with a more even balance, so 4 are not really discernible in terms of weight/sw/balance difference.

Seems like pretty good tolerances so far considering OP used lighter 18g strings.

So perhaps if I had 16g strings I'd be close to the Wilson swing weight spec of 335 for this frame? Using the TW customization tool i would need 20grams added at 10 & 2 to up my swing weight to 330. I'm not sure of the weight difference from 16 to 18 gauge string but I'm pretty sure it's not a 20 gram difference.

However, based on what you're saying I guess i'm not that far out of spec?

What does the old RF97A measure? I am sure one of the 10 would have been close to this given that they were all over the place?? ;)

Whoa!
Same weight, but different balance points? How did you manage that?

All over the place for swingweight the 7 i measured. From 304 unstrung to 335!! Unstrung... some of the worst i have measured in a racket.

Yes you have to be very accurate in your measuring.

I recalculated both frames using a sw ap tool i purchased and the results were 322 for one from and 320 for the other.

Replacing my 18 gauge strings with 16 gauge strings would probably take me to 325 swing weight. I'm happy with that.

I recalculated both frames using a sw ap tool i purchased and the tw tool and both are still in the 315-319 swing weight range.

Replacing my 18 gauge strings with 16 gauge strings would probably take me to 320-325 swing weight. I'm happy with that.

I have 16 gauge in all of mine and they land around 325 swing weight. So are all of these 10 off from spec? Wasn't it supposed to be 335?

Surprised to see the low SW for your sticks. I play tested the new Pro Staff RF 97 Autograph racquet for TW. Here is my detailed review: https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...-rf-97-autograph.569673/page-10#post-10575283

All specs measured by Babolat RDC

Unstrung:

These are the unstrung specs (the plastic on grip/handle was removed)

Static weight: 339g
Flex: 70RA
Swing weight: 305
Balance: 12 points HL

Strung (With OG):

I strung the stick with full bed of Volkl Cyclone 17 @ 52 lbs. The reason I chose a full bed of poly is because I am used to playing with this string a lot, and I feel I would be able to give better feedback/review using this. The overgrip used was Wilson Pro.

Static weight: 359.6g
Flex: 67 RA
Swing weight: 336
Balance: 10 points HL

Curious how long 18 gauge string lasts in an RF97A. I used 16's, and that racquet chewed through them in a matter of a few hours.

Try Volkl cyclone. I haven't found a huge difference in durability from the 16 to the 18. I'm getting 16-18 hours with the 18g Cyclone.

Although officially both RF97 versions have the same specs, it seems that the new one has lower swingweight. This is also evident in all twu measurements., where the older version has significantly higher scores, in every category.

Has anyone tried to replace leather grip with synthetic grip? Specs? Looking to get RF97 but static weight is a bit too much for me....
Thanks

I replaced the wilson leather grip with a Blade Synthetic grip, and it made the racket 6g lighter.
