Kyrgios vs Goffin

Goffin loses the first by the tiniest of margins; every close Hawkeye call going against him. NK showing some great patience towards the end in some long rallies

Kyrgios is playing well below his normal level and still is winning. I like Goffin, but he just doesn't have the power and talent to compete at the highest level.

Kyrgios just has the extra oomph than Goffin.

Kyrgios frightened that ball boy I'm sure, the way he stared and asked for the towel. Towel... toWELLLLL... Lol

Man, if Kyrgios can ever fix his attitude he'll be a force. That backhand can create a lot of trouble for opponents - and yes, I know the forehand is the better shot. Unfortunately, I bet he withdraws tomorrow or tanks because he's tired. Here's to hoping I am surprised...

Not a chance in hell Berdych beats Federer. Hopefully Kyrgios beats Zverev again so we get the Federer Kyrgios match-up we were denied by a food bug.

Er... Zverev/Fed would be every bit as fun. The real bummer is KG/Z having to clash before semi. That sucks so much. I need to vent

Against Z? Not a chance (unfortunately ). He'll withdraw before Fed with a sore toe  (ha ha fervently hoping I'm wrong for the sake of my sanity :))

And if he doesn't he'll go nowhere. He was winning the match and getting all the breaks (got awarded a crucial point in the TB which we often see replayed) and still kept whining like a little girl. He's lucky he's playing gentlemen like Goffin; a McEnroe or a Fognini will make him crawl up the wall in no time. Also, I can't imagine umps being thrilled with his bratty behaviour and it's a matter of time before they start retaliating.

Good player but a lousy sport, so far at least. He is still young so there is still hope.

Zverev doesn't have the serve, forehand, or defensive skills to beat Federer. Kyrgios does.

Actually, Zverev beat Federer in their last 2 encounters: 2016 Halle and at the Hopman Cup this year (albeit the latter being only an exho event) so he does have the experience and that should give him confidence.

So kyrgios/Zverev appear to be the guys to watch after Dimitrov has returned to the mug life.
On hard courts and likely grass.;)

I agree, it's exciting because of the tension, it's just that the guys aren't too expressive at the moment. Glad to be watching though.
The match between Kyrgios and Goffin tonight was quite amazing. Goffin came out on a mission and played the best I've ever seen him play by far; just insane that he was Kyrgios dominant on serve coming into the tiebreaker in the first set. Meanwhile Kygrios faced a ton of break points and was under an absolute ton of pressure from the crisp hitting Goffin who was pressing Kyrgios as much as he could and often guessing right on first serve. Goffin played far better than Djokovic in his two matches with Kyrgios. It was an amazing tiebreaker by Kyrgios who fought back from a break down and also played roulette on 2nd serve with a massive 134 mph ace. Goffin had Nick under immense pressure. Goffin saved one set point on Kyrgios's serve, but then finally made a mistake in his pressing of Kyrgios with a deep forehand UE for the set. For Kyrgios to win that set took a warrior's mentality (Kyrgios not too expressive with Karlovic match either which was all business due to Ivo playing quite well.)

Things continued in the 2nd with Goffin again pressing Kyrgios, but finally the superlative Goffin serve game came back to earth and we had the epic 15 minute break of serve by Kyrgios that put him in control of the match. An amazing match by both players with incredible tension as Goffin knew he was dead if Kyrgios broke him. Brilliant game plan and execution by Goffin in this match, but Kyrgios will always be a challenge as Goffin's return strength is on 2nd serves. Goffin still got 2 break points in this match and for the points both won exactly 50.0% of the points for the match. @Gary Duane I doubt their are many examples where players have won in straight sets with less than 50% of the points for a match.;) Incredible match.
