From the Angell website, coming soon:

Brand new for 2018, the Angell K7 is the perfect combination of style and substance. Constructed from a unique Aramid and Carbon fibre matrix, the K7 is a master of power and touch. As the material of choice for most bullet proof protection products, Aramid fibres provide all the dampening and shock absorption needed, whilst the high modulus carbon delivers the abundance of power that all Angell frames are renowned for.

Angell KEVLAR! That's really cool, I can't wait to test it.

@AMGF Do you know any other information? SW range, grip size similar to custom racquet pallet sizes, flex uniform like TC95/TC100 or more head flex like TC97?

I know nothing more than what's on the website for now. I think it is fantastic to have a kevlar option, I can't wait to see how Paul put his own twist with the kevlar braiding. With the already pretty low 64ra and kevlar, this should be a very sweet hitting frame. Specs look like it will be a good platform for more customization.

Grip shape is only offered in B, size should be pretty similar. No leather option (I will probably add leather as part of my customization). This could be the modern frame with a classic touch many here have been looking for. Sounds like a winner. I will definitely report back with my hitting impressions once I get mine.

I don’t know I’ll be able to wait that long for your hitting impressions :D

Looks like another great flexy platform stick in the 11.4 oz range strung. Wish it was also offered in a 18x20 pattern though so we can compare it to the ultra tour.

I think its good that it doesn't include both, this gives Paul the option to bring out a different 18x20 stick tailored to what he gets in feedback with this racquet, smart decision IMO.

Good point. I will probably try this at some point anyways but I’ve been preferring the control the tight 18x20s offer now.

looks great--if you read what Paul says that the fibers are all that's needed for shock absorption= to me NO foam fill with the other hint UNDER frame construction-NO mention other than the grommet over frame construction/composition. NO hate just how i read the comments.

This frame is not foam filled. Kevlar only. Confirmed by Paul when I asked when I passed my order.

Hmm do you think the lack of foam will make a huge amount difference? Did you ask paul why he chose not to fill?
Well Kevlar is known to absorb energy. The aramid fibers should provide enough damping. This is what gives kevlar frames the old school feel. Old Twaron and Kevlar frames are still praised today for their outstanding feel. I believe that the lowish ra combined with the Kevlar will make this a sweet hitting frame.

Paul simply said that with kevlar, it was not needed. We'll know in a fortnight.

I'm curious, too. But I think this frame will have a feel similar to the tc95 custom of 63 RA but with more power and comfort due to bigger head but this also depends on the swingweight. Did you come to ask the swingweight and width of the hoop?

Unstrung swingweight is 280. But Angell promise a solid feel and comfort from the aramid fibre construction. Interesting but i'd have been happier with a higher SW. Perhaps seeking a new audience.

Sticking 10-15 feet of lead tape onto a frame isn't exactly ideal.

280 unstrung - roughly 310 strung. 1 gram at 12 is about 6 SW according to Paul. Have you looked at the pros lead under the bumper? If you put 6 grams under the bumper you are probably looking at a 30 increase and easily hidden. Then add more weight to handle to counteract that balance change and then a bit more and you are at a very beefy swingweight probably 350+. 305 base +6 +10 under grip to add more headlight for my taste would still be only like 345 strung with overgrip. Seems like this would be fine for a platform racquet.

Not foam filled so you can probably silicone in the handle as well for easy weight addition and additional dampening if needed as is done by head custom team on their PT pro stock lines. Much like how the pros are customising their lower weight frames from hairpins.

is that you, Paul Bunyan?

For the rest of us normal sized humans, a total of 12-18 inches in length of 1/8” wide lead tape cut into smaller lengths and strategically placed around the hoop is more than enough and then adding putty or silicone into the inside of the handle to counterbalance. :)

So, does it have a tapered beam, and what's the width?

Isn't the throat too short and the handle part too long?

I thought Paul had help from a design team. I guess this picture explains why some players feel his Frames are Heavenly.

The Prince Beast 2118 models are red & have Kevlar & Textreme in them. Out in Japan. Let the comparison begin.
His design group picture ?

I cherish a more pagan view. For me, the court is a modern installation of Ήλύσιον πεδίον, where heroes of the fourth generation enjoy sports and all types of musical entertainment. Angell must be the father of all Muses.

Nice reference
All to often, frames today seem to be flawed like the work of Eitri and Brokkr, the smiths who forged Mjolnir.
The handle came out short as they were interrupted by Loki during the process.
Sort of the way cost cutting has driven racket production.

Am I the only one dying to try this frame!? I wonder if the K7 will feel crisper than the current TCs.

Not sure, maybe Paul @Racketdesign will chime in with more info. I thought kevlar had to be braided with the graphite in making a tennis frame.

Heads old Twaron racquets had just one-directional kevlar running up the frame, pretty sure they were not braided. Wilson have usually braided their kevlar in with their graphite which gives it a crisper feel than the Heads. The new Prince Beast racquets have Twaron at 45 degree angles in the throat layup, not braided it appears..... cant wait to try them!

Interesting to see what the K7 has...... gotta say I like the PJ on it too. Nice. I think I might try this one.

Could you please confirm

1.) The beam width
2.) This nonsense about shorter / longer handle, throat e.t.c... Discouraging two handed backhands? The handle looks the same length as other TC's

:)

See Pauls response as below, seems like a very slightly wider beamed TC97. Reduce hoop flex? Although a bit different throat as well.

Hi. Thank you for your order. The K7 is 20.5mm at the tip of the hoop with a gradual taper down to 22.5 at the top of the handle. Cross section is very similar to our TC97 model with the slight change in the throat area.
