Novak Retirement Announcement.

I know it's April 1 but I'm watching tennis today and looking at Novak's schedule I think he might announce the end in New York this year. I mean sure there's clay but no indication that goes well at all.

Sure Australia is where he won half his Slams but short of true contention retiring at the Slam he made 7 Finals wouldn't be strange in the least.

I know I called for Nadal to retire in 2016 but Novak is older and worse than Rafa then.

Why is he spending his family time being trailed by a social media person with a camera

Is this the Karadashians
This was taken by someone in his entourage done for P.R. and not by a social media person. It was posted on ND's social media accounts.

I think if he will start to lose too often he might retire.. the main thing is if he has passion the fire to win matches.. doesn't look like it now

He said he wants to play till the age of 40 and I admit that this bad patch might have shorten his career considerably but not by this margin. He ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Tennis players these days have an extra incentive to play especially because of Fed and Nadal's resurgence in old age. They can't help but wish the same for themselves and hence they try more than the ones in say 80's or 90's. This is why Murray and Novak ain't leaving. Nor is Stan. Rafa has the best case for retirement (no offence meant) because of all the pain and injuries he face but still he won't hang up the racquet primarily because of his love for the game but to a certain extent because of Fed streching the gap. Same is for Fed. He doesn't want Nadal to close on him too. And Novak for sure wants to catch both of them.
It looks like that but the GOAT debate isn't over yet. It is still 10% alive and believe me or not there are triple the variables now than there were 2 years ago. All three of them are fragile now health-wise. Game wise there level drops more frequently now than before. Time is running out for Fed and Nad. Young guys trouble them more often. You name it.
So believe me when I say that Novak is gonna stay. If he won't then I'll be shocked and then you can mock me all u want.

Nope. Novak is not retiring any time soon. He is too good for a brief lean patch to break him. He's an ATG and will come roaring back. It's just a question of time.

With Nadal and Federer playing in late 30's - no one's going to retire soon.

I predict another ridiculous TTW thread, with many comments from posters that don’t have a clue

I hope he face Rafa so Rafa Can fix that h2h

No it would be beautiful if novak plays so rubbish that he never reaches nadal and protects his h2h just as nadal has all these years. Maybe once or twice he reaches a final as he is in rare good form and rafa isnt and sneaks a win. Although unlikely as rafa isnt consistemy at getting to finals and djokovic has fallen off a cliff

He’s so skinny. He looks like me when I was 12 before puberty struck.

Only he's like a good 2 feet taller than when you were 12. Jesus the guy looks ridiculous next to his wife.

Those were my exact thoughts when I saw this first. I don't like to pretend to know what is good for a player and what isn't but man he clearly needs to put on some weight.

Depends on what the player prioritizes for his game. More mass, more power. Less mass, more coverage. A large part of Djokovic's game is based around his court coverage. Larry Stefanki had a few of his players lose some weight to gain improved court coverage and it gave them a good amount of success. If you need more power, bulk up a bit. If not, keep the speed from the lean build.

This reminds me of 2008 when everyone said Fed looked too skinny.

Fed and Djokovic have always been very thin guys!

Federer was ill in 2008, so he probably lost a bit of weight from that. But Federer in 2008 still wasn't Djokovic skinny. The closest Federer has been to Djokovic skinny was probably 2001 and maybe 2002. He was still quite skinny until the end of 2004 though.

I've said it a few times now, he look like a someone who is trying to reconcile for some poor decisions. I think both personally and professionally. To move forward he would either need to Tiger Woods up and get everything out there (which although the personal stuff is I think if there is validity to the PED rumors he doesn't want to deal with those), or he can retire and everything stays as it is without any further embellishment on him. His play and demeanor support the latter..and retirement. So not that far from possible to me.

Why do I get the feeling that despite the anodyne nature of this threat and its comments it will probably be taken down.
