So if Sam Q and Donald Y went to lunch...

...I'm guessing Sam would get stuck footing the bill.

2007 earnings:

Sam 75K

Don 4k

Sam's having a good year so far, he should be top 50 easy by the end of the year (he's 77 now I think).

Yeah it does seem that way. DY hasn't had any noteworthy achievements on the ATP has he?

He did take a set of djokovic...thats all I can remember.

DY still has more money from off court 'stuff' I suppose, but Sam is like Smith-Barney, he made his the old fashioned way (he EARRRRRNED it).

Don't be surprised? Fedace, trust me, I'd be absolutely gaping in awe if that happened.

Did you know that Young is already a millionare. do you know why? Nike and Head has pretty much gave him a multi million dollar long term contracts cause they were betting that Young is going to win at least couple of slams and be a top 10 player one day. They are not stupid, young has mcenroe like talents and it is matter of time that the talent mateurs.:D

And if Donald Young were catapaulted into the 1980's, he would probably win something big. But like McEnroe he has a small, unathletic build with chicken calves. Not going to work in the present environment. Not at all.

Maybe he should get calf implants. In college I worked construction with some Mexican guys. They nicknamed me 'pierna de pollo' - legs of a chicken. Guess that's why I never made it on tour lol.

Then how do you explain Guga Kuerten, he has skinner legs than young?

Actually DY was in an article and he said he feels left out from the other players because he does have the contracts and "fame"already while the other juniors struggle more.
He is talented and yes small. Only time will tell but the preasure on him to succeed must be huge.
How old is he now?? 17?

Why not just go to stanford for 1 or 2 years and turn pro ? if his grades are good enough.

He has deals with Nike, Head and IMG. I am sure he is a multi-millionaire already.

Ummm, BS. My family is from the same town, same club even, as Alex Kuznetsov. And there was some money, but nothing like millions for him.
And he has had way more success than DY. I've searched the web, DY, has fame, but nowhere is there a dollar sign connected to his deals. Usually they are incentive laden. If he doesnt make top 50 I doubt he's cashing millions.

Exactly! (and he'd be the first to agree with you) Shout out to the chicken legs!

Not exactly. The contracts were reported to be worth millions over the life of the contract, but I've never seen an exact amount quoted.

DY is already a pro (since 15 I think), he's already accepted prize money. If he goes to college, he can't play tennis there.

I have a sneaky suspicion that in a couple more years, when Young STILL hasn't lived up to the billing, people will say, "He's only 19 (or 22 or 24). He still has time." hahahaha

I was going to say the same thing...the contracts have a value of millions but the value is not realized until he accomplishs certain levels spelled out in the contract...kind of like the $250million contract for Bekham. A lot has to happen for him to make $250million...SAme with DY, if he doesn't amount to anything then nor will his contract. He probably got a nice signing bonus.

Lol Stanford again? Did they reject your application or something? You seemed obsessed with this school.

Well Young can't go for the obvious reason that he turned pro at age 14 and there for is ineligible.

i don't see the point of putting donald young down...
i mean he hasnt done anything yet except in juniors, but he IS only 17, people, and its not like there are many other youngersters from the US that have popped up yet

didn't sam owned young last yr in a tourney final in jnrs

NO last year Querrey won in a professional match in Tulsa. It wasn't an ownage. Sam won 7-6 7-5. Their last junior match I am pretty sure was Kalmazoo a year before that which Young won.

Norcal - Don't worry about Bjorn; he seems to have a fixation on male body parts, especially calves. Anyway, from now on (or until I get banned from this board for some reason) I'm going to call you "pierna de pollo" or PDP for short.

Hahahaha, good point Fedace.

One cannot really explain Guga. Guga is something you enjoy, not explain.

But if we must get technical, there are two things:
Guga has the heart (and hair) of a lion...and he's got some Chuck Norris DNA in both tibias and fibulas and in his right ulna and radius. This has allowed him to overcome his condition -- a condition known as piernas como norcal.

Bjorn99 knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I remember when venus came out people said a lot of the same things about her. She couldn't hit anything in more than once. She was gangly and all over the place. She sucked so bad and why was everyone paying so much attention to her. Why did she have a multimillion dollar contract with Reebok without even playing a match yet? Then they said her sister Serena wasn't as tall and wouldn't be as good as her. Maybe top 20.... The Reebok money allowed them to move into their own house in Florida, I think its the same one that can be seen in certain Williams documentaries.

So, I don't know if Donald Young will be great. But I think its believable that he has already cashed in on some big change through various contract sponsorships... I assume people are jealous of him for a reason. And its probably not his win-loss record. Most likely cuz of the sponsorships and I would guess cha cha cha ching.

Guga was able to produce extreme high racket head speed thru his flixibility and his long arms and legs
