Oh God.

My 23-year-old sister loves that XXX crap.

So much ugh.

It's more fair for a kid to like that stuff though. When I was a kid I liked all kinds of weird things. I used to watch Thunderbirds. LOL. I remember I cried when The Hood died. Nobody here might know who he was, but he was the bad guy. My Dad could not understand why I was crying.

Hahahaha
But so far he has been into: Astronauts, Bridges Andy Murray, JESUS (omg he was like a crazy christian for a while), superheroes (he didnt wear normal clothes for 2 years), Charles Dickens books (yes, he wanted to walk around in his daily life as he was a poor boy from another century), Michael Phelbs.....now rap.
Having him I have pretty much become an expert in the stories around the superheroes besides Superman. I know the different kind of bridges that are made. I know Charles Dickens in and out.
XXX... I have tried... its VERY hard to like.

Well Andy Murray is a good thing to like. :) When I was a little kid there was no Andy Murray. I get why he likes Murray. I like Murray for different reasons. :)

I liked Beast Wars WAY TOO MUCH. Even in the picture I just posted I had a Beast Wars toy. XD

@Zara Was the only thing that could ever possibly make me pull for Murray before. But now that it’s possible that he may be the only big 4 player that doesn’t dope I may reconsider now.

Good thing it probably wasnt a lot of Beast Wars costumes available at the time
We lived in Wimbledon when Andy lost and won the final there. Andy is the only tennis player he really liked.
He prefer female tennis players hahahaha Caroline Wozniacki for example.
No, just action figures. My parents had to buy me all the toys of all different assortments. :-D I would beg every time they got paid to get a new toy and they would give in.

I visited the Australian Open as a kid myself because my Dad wanted to show me what "real tennis" was like. I think it was in 2000.

Then in 2004 I went to the Sydney International (I'm from Sydney) and I first met Lleyton Hewitt then. I didn't like or care about him yet but I saw him on TV and recognized him so I got an autograph.

But I guess as a little kid the only real tennis player I liked was Agassi. He was the most successful at the time. I didn't like Sampras because I thought he was weird looking.

Oh you two were both chubby cute little babies. I want to squeeze you both!
When I was first born I was really skinny and ran around a lot. But my Mum spoiled me. :) My Dad then later on got me into tennis and fitness and here I am today.

Yep - just this summer around July. Why do you ask? WHY DO YOU ASK?
Sorry was away from the phone.

Well, maybe just maybe we could get together sometime. I’ve tried just about everyone I know on here and the US east seems to be a foreign land to them. The only other people there seems to be a rats ass chance is F&DP & 125.

I have decided not to associate myself with you anymore.

You can now go and ***** and gossip about me with your buddies via PM.

I totally agree. :)

I would've responded earlier but a migraine crippled me. :(

Sorry to learn of it @Sabratha

Migraines are something I have no way of relating to. I’ve never in fact had a headache. What little I do know comes from what others tell me: that they can be crippling and come on by a variety of stimulus - hopefully you know some of the things that set yours off and have your workarounds.

Nah-uh. Always believing is seeing. You believe you can win a match. You believe you can do it. You believe you can climb a mountain. Results will follow.

Yip. Me too. Science confirms this too, our brains ignore a fair portion of what the eyes see for real time spatial mapping. We wouldn’t be able to catch baseballs or hit those serve returns without the “believing” part.

But perhaps a better, less sciency example might be the blind. With no visual sensory input they manage to get on rather well, no?

This is really a good picture. The colours are so vibrant and compliment each other.
Nice shot.

Thank you and, thank you. The more I am in and around nature, the more colours I seem to want to try out. The more time I spend in cities the less I seem to experiment with sticking to blacks, greys and browns.

I hand out likes too easily LOL. Because I only have 8.5K likes someone said I am unpopular here. :(

But I also made a lot of posts before likes were implemented. Perhaps 15,000. So 8.5K out of 10K posts is alright, but I don't grovel over them either. I just post my opinion a lot of the time and here in Odds And Ends I just post about my life or other stuff outside tennis.

Perhaps you’re like the Great Man himself? Federer was winning masters back when they were gruelling five set affairs. His longevity is so impressive it has become it’s own accolade. When I see the folk here that have stuck around for long periods and have managed to not morph into trolls it’s a little lesson for me.

At what age do kids start getting embarrassed of their parents? (of them being not cool).

I want to prepare for this. Here is the checklist I have so far to make my kid think I am cool. Anything I'm missing?

  • get tattoos of philsophical phrases in Mandarin Chinese
  • Grow beard or goatee
  • grow hair out and style into man bun
  • close my facebook account and get enough followers to become an instagram or social media "influencer"
  • sell my car and use an electric scooter instead
  • hire an assistant to operate a drone to shoot 360 VR video of me to be live-streamed 24/7
  • hire millenial coach to remove my entire vocabulary and replace it with the latest, cool acronyms and emojis
  • burn all my physical books in a Fahrenheit 451 degree fire and follow popular people on social media instead

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Having no kids of my own but two nephews about to turn into teenagers I too wonder about such matters. A line that I have noticed which separates the generations is how we engage with technology.

I turn to the internet to type out my query, it is my first approach. Type it out. If someone asks me virtually anything I type out my query, whereas my parents perhaps would look for a physical bit of paper or book to get to the same answer.

So while they’re very much used to tactile inputs for how they go about their affairs, I am a step removed from it.

My nephews, however, use voice entry to get to their answer. No tactile feedback at all. Recently, we were on the motorway and it was one of those do we do this or that situations. We’ve all been there. For many centuries [I imagine] a trusty coin was the answer.

Before I could fish one from somewhere in my pockets I heard from the backseat “Siri, flip a coin.”

Not only for the first time did I feel old, I felt just a bit stuck in my ways. I also felt that if I wanted to be involved in their world, I’d need to change and keep up with the times, or at least learn how to not struggle with the changes.

New Order is good even though they are basically literally Joy Division without their genius or any of the edge.

I can see why someone might say that.

Over at this end I am firmly of the mindset The Backstreet Boys were better packaged New Kids on The Block.
