Merkur double edge with Feather blades. Sometimes I can be bothered to use traditional soap, but most of the time I use Kiehl’s Smooth Glider.

That's old school, how long does one blade last?
I did try the old way once and cut my face and was bleeding

I did electric for a bit but it doesn't quite get a close shave.

I usually change them after 3-4 shaves, as a shave with a blunting DE razor is not fun at all. Also the leading edge is SO thin that it’s really easy for it to pick up minor nicks, which can slice your face open through no fault of your own. There are slightly thicker blades than Feather, but I have found them not to be as comfortable, and can cause drag.

It’s not for the faint hearted, that’s for sure. The first few times I used it I looked like a victim from a nightmare on elm street movie, but once you get used to it it’s easy, as long as you’re careful.
As for advantages, for me it’s the most comfortable shave I have ever had. It minimises irritation and ingrown hairs to a far greater extent than any of the other major safety razors I have tried (Gillette, Wilkinson Sword, KoS etc). For others, it may be that the blades are cheap as chips... Feather blades are the best you can get, and they’re still only about £3 for 10.

Have been using a Wilkinson (Schick ) Hydro 5 & Remington Wet/Dry electric in the shower. Tried the new Gillette Skinguard yesterday & most likely will switch to that as it is superb.

The yellow Pro Fusion is the greatest. Each blade lasts me a couple of months, and it appeals to a cheapo like me.

Invested in a good quality double edge razor from truefitt and hill a couple of years back. Love using it

My grocery store sells their own brand of double-edge razors and they are 12 for $1.50. They look like the Gillette Good News but don't last as long. They are made by Dorco in South Korea. Dollar Shave Club also resells Dorco razors. I shave once every two to three weeks so it costs $1.50 a year.

I use an electric shaver (usually Norelco) and find that when the blades wear out it is often cheaper to buy a new razor than pay for the overpriced replacement blades. Very annoying, sort of like the ink cartridge scam.

I have thick beard and want the convenience of electric and have tried several electric shavers (Braun, Panasonic, Norelco) but they are all absolutely horrible.
Can't see how anyone could possibly use electrics (other than very thin bearded people that don't get 5 o'clock shadow).
None of them even comes close to a blade.
Think I've tried all the disposable blades.
Schick Hydro 5 is by far the best disposable blade I've found.

Used a Norelco and noticed it was full of hair faster than I used it. Found out my daughter and granddaughter shaved their legs often.

I've stopped shaving. Too much time wasted.
I just use a clipper when my stubble begins to itch too much.
I used to use Gillette when I worked. In those days, a day old stubble was unacceptable. Today it seems to be fashionable, lol.

Seems like a hundred years ago when my oldest uncle (long since dead) gave me his Norelco (I guess i had just started shaving then). The blades became blunt soon, or were already. Searched around for replacements but could not find.

Each blade lasts 2 months? Girly man beard I suppose. How long does it last for a manly man beard? My Schick Hydro 5 lasts a week at most.

Years ago had to clean and maintain several shavers in assisted living. Discovered quickly that it was cheaper to replace the shaver than to buy new blades.
Funnier is that shavers can be used not just to shave legs

Yes, but the big difference is how the gel leaves the skin hydrated for the shave, you’ll feel it smoother, and you will almost not feel the scratch of the blades. I recommend you give it a try.

The gel doesn’t work for me. Tried it once 25 years ago and cut my face up. Definitely foam works better.
I prewash my face with salicylic acid soap - removing excess oils helps give me better result.
Every time I get sample razor in mail with one more blade on the end than before, it seems to work better and I switch. I’m on fusion 5 with flex ball. Waiting for my 6-blade razor to arrive in the mail soon.
