Hey friend, can you cry for me here please?

k thx
Sorry, couldn't find a bigger picture.

If you discount the peasant surface you could fit all Nadal's Slam victories in one row lmao.

Of course the slam which Fed has only won it once while his main rival has won it 11x and beaten him multiple times on it would be the worst slam, sure.

No, this is based on player and fan ratings.....

The AO is the best, followed by Wimbledon

Sorry that you’re fragile to facts

I think they're referring to tournament organization and not just the surface itself. If it was just a surface bias, there's no way anyone can use the word "objectively" in that claim.

I'm arguing against people who are crapping on clay like it means nothing, that's nothing to do with GOAT debates.

Look clay is an important surface, and what Rafa has done on it is incredible.

But it is one surface, there are two others. So you take the overall big picture, and Djoker and Fed rule the others. That is why they are all great in their own specific ways.

Nadal leads Djokovic 9-6 in Grand Slam matches (including 2-1 at the US Open).

It's like I don't even know you anymore...
I can not argue with you here. Fair assessment.

Djokovic/Nadal could both become GOAT to me. I honestly don't watch tennis for the GOAT race. It's arbitrary and the goal posts move constantly.

I became a Federer fan without even knowing his accomplishments.

If Djokovic were to win this tournament it would do a lot for me in the mythical GOAT race.

Honestly? There have been separate times I've thought all 3 were the GOAT. Just my personal opinion of course.

That's how good they all are.

True, I think there will always be an argument for all 3, however, if Djoker wins the next 3 of 4, it will be a hard argument against him no matter how you look at it.

Just asking, but Rafa has won most of these H2H on clay at RG, so do we just look at the number or take into account the bulk amount of wins was on clay which we all agree Rafa is the gatekeeper of?

It's fair to look at it by surface if you're trying to do an actual unbiased GOAT analysis or whatever.

Problem is nobody can be unbiased they will pick what suits their agenda/argument.

Fed doesn't need to be the unanimous GOAT to stay my favorite player. Was never why he was my favorite in the first place.

Yeah, at the end of the day most fans like their guy for specific reasons. I dig Fed for all the things off court just as much as on, and like you, back in 05 when I became a fan, I never expected him to have accomplished this anyway.

This is a post of a rational, mentally healthy, human being. Shocking to find someone like that on TTW.

From a scientific standpoint it is justified to consider tennis on different surfaces as different sports.

OK, but why?

A number of factors.

Scheduling, boring and slow tennis, tournament management, archaic practices like no lights etc, no roof, inconsistent TV coverage (though that’s more on the networks), NID result almost every year,

I could go on. Not to mention that it probably has the worst fan entertainment/facilities out of the 4 slams, and it’s definitely last in terms of how modern it is. It’s run worse than some ATP 500s.

Its federers worst slam because of nadal. If it wasnt for nadal its reasonable to say roger could have 5 or 6 rg titles.
As he is the greatest player ever its reasonable to raise the objection that roger should have sneaked on a win over nadal at some point in 6 meetings at rg.
After all, nadal, who apparently cant really play if the experts on here are to be believed, has managed a win over the greatest grass court player ever within 3 meetings at wimbledon.
But really, why do people even lose their minds over this? People get wound up and neurotic over this every time. Why arent people able to acknowledge the other guy is one of the greatest players ever? The players themselves do it.

This thread is a flashback from the past. All the posters from when the Federer Nadal rivalry used to be the most prominent and were posting day in day out about Federer are back for one last gig: crissti, mustard, sg, veroniquem, vernonbs, etc, etc. Now the "new" trolls are recycling it, and the djok&co are assisting them. The memory is a funny thing.

This thread is simply stating a fact. 13 meetings in slams between Nadal and Federer. Federer has won 3. He has a losing record on two of the three slam surfaces.

At some point in your life you're going to have to deal with factual information.

6 out of those 13 meetings on Clay.
Hope Rafa and Roger meet at Wimbledon.
Clay being one of the two original tennis surfaces. A 6-0 record between two all-time greats on any surface is extraordinary. And a 3-1 lead for Nadal on hard courts at the slams destroys the argument that the stats are all about clay. Only a narrow 2-1 lead for Federer on grass prevents the slam stats being a total humiliation for Roger.
