How to save tennis

Well tennis is doing great because of the big 3, but after them , i dont know, there are no exiciting players. But atp is guilt on this. I think they wanted to create superheroes that win in every surface so they killed the features of which surface, you cant win wimbledon by serve and volley anymore! What i think they should do:

- Grass and hardcourt should comeback to be faster again , not hugely fast, but where news type of plays can work , like agressive baseliners , serve and volley etc . We only see pusher etc but it is not their fault , if they do something different they will lose, we need more variety . Clay we can leave as it is high bounce and slow as clay should be.

- to prevent servebot to thrive , we should create limitations on the racket technology , maybe limitation on the size and the polystring used, i think formula 1 they have these kind of rules, so it is not unfair. So create rules about rackets it is not far fetched.

- we need to discuss length of the game. As the game is more and more physical , 4 hours plus can destroy a player body, mayer and nishikori played 5 setters in this FO and
They were detroyed in the next round, and we have seen a lot of injuries in players , even youngers players. I know it is tricky but we could change the deuce rule (40-40 the next point closes the game) or 6-6 normal tiebreak in the 5th set. It is hard to call new fans saying well , you need 4 hours to watch this match. ( And of course enforce the serve clock rule)

I think we need mostly more variety ,not a bunch of grinders or a bunch of servebots but we can reach a middle ground .

Some decent ideas, except the part I bolded. The length of the game is fine, players should do better to close out in less than 5, if not they are not good enough. It is part of the reason why a slam is so important, you have to be better than just winning at times.

Do NOT touch the scoring of the game. No ad? Really? That is where some of the most drama is, that would ruin it for me.

Now, the racket technology I could go either way, however, it will be hard to go back years in technology for financial reason and we would know that the level of tennis is not what it once was.

Just double the speed of every court.

No more towel boys.

Limit of 10 seconds between points.

Racket smash and ball isolation immediate disqualification

There, tennis is saved.

Obs: Hawkeye on clay to show how flawed is the mark system of the dirt eaters

Let's build that ****ing time machine while we're at it.

Nothing will fix the lack of talent in the game

You can almost feel it. Some group, somewhere, behind the scenes like pallid maggots, have pretty much signed off on changing tennis scoring. I'm guessing that's what the huge push on fast4's was for.

Seems like they're aiming at laver cup format maybe for 250's and 500's, something abbreviated, and bo3 for slams

  • If by exiciting players you mean more a-hats like Kyrios, no thanks. I prefer sportsman
  • Given the variety of titles among the top 3, seems they all somewhat specialize on a surface and can win at others. Great variety there.
  • Again, when player did S&V with some baseline rallies it was not any more variety than the majority of players baselining and using some S&V.
  • You cannot regress technology and fitness of players back to crap woodies and skinny dudes with a little athletic ability.
  • TV advertisers are already working hard to shorten the amount of match time we have while maximing ad exposure. That will fix itself through it, unfortunately.
  • We have tons of variety now, just none you appreciate
  • When Fed retires we will dismiss a HUGE servebot
Get rid of grass and dsitrubte they tourneys among clay and HC, then rotate the WTF surface and venue every two years.

Done.

And if they are playing at the same tournament as the ATP tour, matches will end 60 minutes after the start time and whoever is ahead is declared the winner.
I think it's pretty unfair to base the winner on the score of the match. But otherwise a good and wise rule.

Let's stop trying to "save" tennis....It bothers me that we are trying to change games like baseball and tennis to appeal to a younger generation. F. them. They can watch guys play video games and call them athletes for all I care. Tennis is not going to "go away." Change the games to try and attract new fans while pushing away the fans they have. The game is perfect BG can keep his mouth shut about the one serve one toss thing. He should stick to commentating ugly!

I.am totally against bo3 in slams . But i see people.really against a normal tie break in the fifth (when is 6-6) , so i gave this idea with no advantage . Actually i prefer to let the deuce and advantage intact , and normal tie break in the fifth. Well if courts are faster maybe we dont need to change these rules about the scoring etc

We need a new generation of fans who will stop asking for S&V 3 stroke rally tennis. Can’t imagine anything more boring.

wrong, you have no idea must have been watching this sport way after the homogenization of tennis or simply blind and ignorant

You cannot regress technology and fitness of players back to crap woodies and skinny dudes with a little athletic ability.

wrong, you have no idea spending probably most time looking at mirror image than anything else around you
Djoko, Zverev, Federer, Thiem, Nadal (pre-teen boy chested just on big arm) have skinny marathon bodies no different to Borg, Lendl, Edberg, Wilander and more
with player like Pat Cash, Boris, Muster, Kriek and many others would crush any of todays players for strength and swung 400g sticks.
If you cant swing a 400gsm stick with ease you lost easily in those days to those who could. Today racquets let players like DeMinaur and Kyrgiosod exist.

We have tons of variety now, just none you appreciate
wrong, you have no idea but judging by your avatar you are an older selfie so it figures clearly on why you make such brainless remarks

When Fed retires we will dismiss a HUGE servebot
The variety Rogeriatric has means he destroys most of the players below his ranking position, this old dude has become the gatekeeper of Gen Selfies
which was once Ferrer`s spot but no the lack of variety is so ridiculous someone which his varied play can go into clay after a long hiatus and squash them.

Get rid of grass and dsitrubte they tourneys among clay and HC, then rotate the WTF surface and venue every two years. Done.
wrong, you have no idea you obviously could not run on grass without making people laugh.
The sport actually needs a longer grass season, more natural surfaces rather than the expensive sterile HC of today.

Deciding point at 40-40 is a joke. If that ever happens I stop watching tennis. It is not normal when a fluke can decide a game. If Nishikori's body is made of glass then these are his own problems. No need to change rules to help weak players.

I heard this incredible story, don't know if true: the same guy who brilliantly invented the tiebreak, wanted to change all tennis scoring to that of ping pong!

Faster balls end story. I dont mind a tower winning a slam once in a while if we are guaranteed more tussles like this one
versus the plethora of pushers stuck in the baseline. I miss S&V, yet always been a baseliner that misses variety and a target.
Also seems Brown moved finally to Head(Nole stick?) which is reflecting with the consistency of his recent results

Nah but seriously, how can a court like that exist? It’s unplayable for literally everyone.
Not sure where it is at, but my guess is it is for older people and very casual people who are just hitting nicely back and forth. Something out of the 1910's is in my head.

Or simply a rich dude who wants to say "yeah I have a tennis court, and it is a grass one."
