Novak today, 2019.07.15, has 260 weeks as a no1 player, and Roger holds the record with 310 weeks.
Novak is no1 player currently and his number increases each week for some time now.
He needs to be no1 on the ATP list till 2020.07.06. when he could be record holder with 311 weeks.
Next year Wimbledon finishes 2020.07.12, this year points will be erased day after that, so points players got in this year's edition will be counted in this race.
In other words, Novak's race started with 2000 points and an advantage over the competition.
This thread will follow Novak's path to second most important record in sports, week at no1 place, and will be updated when every important tournament is finished. I will pick few players that, in my opinion, have the best chance to spoil his party or are interesting to follow, and if new one emerges will include him too.
Race list:
Novak Djokovic 2360
Rafael Nadal 1720
Daniil Medvedev 1690
Roger Federer 1290
Kei Nishikori 380
Alexander Zverev 200
Félix Auger-Aliassime 190
Dominic Thiem 190
Stefanos Tsitsipas 20
Tournaments:Wimbledon, Canada, Cincinnati, USO...
Off course, I am aware of the possibility that some player take no1 spot in next 12 months and Novak gets 311 record later, but that is not the point of the thread...
Let's see what will happen....
