Welcome to the 15th event of the 2019 WTA Sudden Death League season: CINCINATTI

Play starts on Monday 12th August

WTA SDL SHEET IS HERE - Rankings 2019

Rules of the game:

1. It's a knock out-system: if the player you picked wins, you're through to the next round. If she loses, you're out.

2. You can pick a player only ONCE. Obviously it's important to make smart choices in order to get far. If you have no picks remaining, you're eliminated from the competition.

3. You can't pick a player from a match that has started already.

4. You cannot advance to the next round via a walkover since it is hard to know exactly when someone announced they were pulling out HOWEVER this rule does not apply once you reach the semifinals

5. As you cannot win a match by a walkover it is highly advised that you make a back-up pick to your main pick. Your pick and back up cannot be from the same match. If so, back up will be invalidated.

6. If the player you picked retires during the match, you're out. If she retires before the match, your back-up pick will be used unless you change your pick before your back up match begins.

7. NEVER edit your pick. If you want to change your pick, please quote your old pick and choose a new player. Edited posts will not be taken into consideration.

We will be picking 6 pick's for this tournament. Our schedule is -

Pick 1: Round 1
Pick 2: Round 2
Pick 3; Round 3
Pick 4: Quarter finals
Pick 5: Semi Finals
Pick 6: Final

Well, wonders never cease! I fully expected to check the results and see Mertens had lost. I think this is the first time I've picked her and she's won!
Staves off the execution for a day. :)

So the original R1 matchup was Bianca/Tsurenko, they both wound up withdrawing. Turned into Wang/Puig.

Keys v. DasKa, the two biggest SDL killers alive. Good luck.
I was only thinking yesterday if the WTA SDL had a 'Pick at Your Own Risk' list it would be redundant as you'd only have to provide a link to the WTA Rankings :(

Not really. PCT of WTA and ATP almost the same. Only slight differences that Federer, Djokovic and Nadal has more than 0.85 but so does Barty and Andreescu followed by Serena at almost 0.8
They're even better as Simona, Karolina, Kvitova, Osaka, Bertens and Bencic sitting at more than 0.7
While ATP has Thiem, Med, Gael and RBA. Last three sitting at threshold 0.7

What does "PCT" mean?
The ATP does have a PAYOR list, although I don't know if its been updated?
Most of those WTA players listed are seeded? So get a bye in this tournament. And three are already out. And Halep is currently doing her best to join them.
Serena - yes she'd be a good first round pick, but given she barely plays, the chances to pick her are rare. Plus you'd have to take the chance she wouldn't retire mid match.

Win percentage. I was just saying you keep on bashing on these girls/Tour in general but some of them is actually has a great win percentage and haven't seen you made that remark in ATP.
Will you bats an eye to Monfils, Coric and Nishikori?

I think you'll find I have a very low opinion of Monfils, and most French players.
What I do find tiresome is the usual line but the ATP are no better. It's lazy. And dull.
And if you really want to go there, the men at the very top are much more consistent than the women at the top.
For example if you pick Djokovic, Nadal or Federer in the first two rounds of the ATP SDL you're much more likely to survive those rounds than picking a top 3 ranked woman.
Am I that wrong?
