I am getting ready for not get hurt too much if it happens. Everything he achieves beyond his 3rd round is a plus for me. :)

I am going in all the way, double or nothing. If he takes the hit, I take it with him. He is still the man.

With win over Londero, Novak is at 279 match wins at Grand Slams. Hope all will be alright with his shoulder, so he can continue to rack up those victories.

By the way he is still the betting favorite at @2.22. That's some serious betting favorite, the next one is Nadal with almost 4.0 and Federer 8.0. I dont think people will throw their money away so easily, probably the injury is minor.
Novak is not the favorite anymore if the shoulder problem has been there for weeks. At his age, health first. It's unfortunate since he is so ready to win #17 otherwise. But I would be OK if he calls it a tournament to deal with the shoulder issue.

I'm concerned. I just want him to go as far as he's able to. I can't think about #17...that was already going to be difficult with the draw but adding an injury on top of that? I was more concerned with YE1 and even that is in danger.

Latest info considering Novak's situation.
Pain was unbearable in certain moments of the match last night, but there is impression that Novak is optimistic about his chances to make that pain bearable. All we can do now, is wait.

I don't know what to make of this. Maybe he can power through first week like that, but then Medvedev, Federer, Nadal await, for which he needs to be fully fit. We'll see. :)

Did you hear what Med just said? Can't handle BO5. Openly admitting it.

Djokovic odds has been drifting across the sites while Nadals shortening. Some sites offering 3 for Nadal while Djokovic gone down a bit to 2.3 or so

I'm not giving up on him.

One match at a time. Time to focus only on Wawrinka for now.

I use a one-hander so I'm not sure how much of a factor a left shoulder injury is on a two-hander...Left shoulder pretty much a non-factor on a one-hander.
Also, he says it affected his serve. It sounds like he is experiencing pain when he tosses the ball (shoulder flexion).
Not good. :(

Any update on the shoulder injury fellow Novak fans? I can't believe he ran into some weird shoulder injury right before the US open

Saw that lol. #NextGen

We all know tho, that he can't really beat Novak or other Big3 members in BO5, but saying it like that is so bad and quite disappointing to hear.

Yeah, there is a thing called Being too honest...Med just revealed his hand to Novak should they both make it. Of course best not to look past Wawrinka atm tbf.

I mean, imagine if Novak or Rafa were saying or thinking this when they were coming up. No wonder people have no hope in next gen players.

Yeah, you are right. Its going to be a tricky one for sure. Especially if he can't recover fully. One match at the time.

Just poor attitude all round. The so called diamond age.

And before we get to The Med, we need to conquer the first leg of the Swiss Alps. (y)

The only good news in all of this is that Djokovic won the 2011 US Open with a shoulder injury, which I forgot about. He just was screwed for the rest of the season afterwards. It seems more serious this time though so that's more bad news.

He retired in cincy that year as well.

Djokovic is a machine. I just can't see this shoulder thing affecting him. Not when he's ontop of his game and playing the way he has been this season at the slams. It just never seems to happen to Novak.
I think we're due a Novak Rafa final at the USO and I think we're going to get it.

Well i get very worried for all players when they get injuries. Feds knee got me worried. Murrays hip. Djokovic elbow still worries me. That is still in there. Now Nadals injuries i just stopped worrying about years ago. 12 french opens and counting. Lol.

And he is still the heavyweight champion of the world.
He’s still the fittest of the 3, that’s for sure. But he’s no superhero, Hitman. Young Nadal could eat can of Tabasco and then beat up Fed with injured knees, but in 2018 we all saw how the knee story ended at USO.

Djokovic has a tiny chance. If doctors can find a way to make pain go away for the rest of the tournament, he can win.

He was basically smoked. Now when we look back it is crazy he gutted out that AO 2012. He should have been dead for a year after that AO.

I guess it wasn't a tear and more like a strain but he also had a back injury that fall. Remember he retired from that DC match in tears, so yea it was amazing that he was healthy enough at that AO and was pretty healthy in 2012 overall.

Thats right. I think his health problems are just from years of wear and tear. His elbow is prob the weak link. Nadal has the knee. Fed the back. Etc..etc... hopfully he does not wreck his last few years. I would rather he be healthy than try and break the major record and get seriously injured.

Lol bringing back memories of that 2011 us open. He was basically just rolling in serves in that final against nadal. WTA like serves. That was epic.

I thought he looked quite downbeat in his interview and i think he has major doubts whether he can see this tournament out.

The next match will probably give us a better idea, but even if he wins but appears struggling i can see him withdrawing either before or during his 4th round or Q/F match.

If he copes well then he can go on and win the whole event, we will have a better idea in next 36 hours or so, however Rafa must now be considered the odds on favourite

He has begun to limit his schedule and didn't even play that much this year and still got injured. I just hope this is nothing major and won't take much time to heal.

Me too. I always am anal retentive on injuries. Take off come back at ao. Who cares about points. Reset. I stated after the medvedev loss that i could sense a possible valley. Wimbledon he was not in that great of form either.

gotta say, this Novak dude is the master of dumb unnecessary personal life moves.

What fad diet/religious move/coach change is next?
