I have no words to describe the feelings (and my English is not good, so it would take too long...) I have had in this match...

Toughest win in Nadal's career, he was absolutely DEAD in the beggining of the 5th set, completely exhausted. That 0-40 save was out of this world.

I have never seen Nadal crying in that way...

The amazing thing was on the 0-40 was he ALMOST quit on that service game!!!!!

Nadal is the best on tour this year coming back from 0-40. ATP site has it dubbed the "toughest stat in tennis" and rafa pulled one out right when he needed it!!!

I go to gym for the last month not manage to lose a weight because off this i am serious i lost 2 kg.Can you believe this??.At least 2008 Wimbledon final had rain breaks.

Rafa has not had great luck with 5 setters lately lol I was like here we go.....
Would have been one of his worst losses, when he had that easy BP at net he hit with a smash (into the net to lose ADV) to serve for the match in third.

This would be total nightmare for us the fans and Rafa and his team.Even at 5 to 2 lead i was nervous as hell.

I thought it was a really good one. Some bozos waked out of their Row C Box Courtside seats just after the fourth set ended. o_O It did not look like it was a medical emergency...

Who the heck watches four sets of a final and leaves just before the fifth starts. From courtside no less. :rolleyes: o_O:mad::-D

There are always people walking in and out, every time. I even saw someone walking up the stairs at Championship Point. :-D

Well, somehow I have to laugh, but at the same time I’m angry that such people steal the seat from a real fan who would have been happy to see the full 5 hours.

ESPN commentators were saying how he never made any mistakes with his overhead sometime in the 4th or 5th set. I was like did they miss the one where he had break point and in the 3rd that would have likely had the match end in 3? He also missed another big one in the 4th if i remember right. Typically his overhead is rock solid though.

Even with that, Med should have not let Rafa break from 40-0...

I do remember Med held serve to go up 1-0 in the fifth set.
Rafa then went down 15-40 and it looked like Med was gonna go up 2-0. That was the first big turning point in the last set....

Yes he was down 0-40 and broke med.

It was at 2-2 med serving. Rafa held up his hand to motion to wait for the crowd and med had already swung and the ball looked wide anyways so then meds serves again and was an ace so it was either out and he got lucky it didn't count or got the ace and it didn't matter.

Chair ump was to blame for not controlling the crowd, not telling them to be quiet during points. inconsistent on when he would start the shot clock.

I have only 2 conclusions:
so you nationalistic american spectators can indeed be emotional over other matches too than solely ones with Serena losing. lol
And Daniil and Berrettini are the only true next gen players right now with the men. Daniils tactics are like Nole so when he stops there is a successor. Nadal probably cries because he is expecting a baby just like Serena.
Next time i hope they start finales earlier than at 10pm GMT +1, because now i missed the last 2.5 sets :((

The server is far more affected by crowd noise than the returner. If the server is ready than the returner needs to be ready.
Rafa can't be stopping play as a returner due to crowd noise. The server Med is standing just 80 feet away almost certainly hears the same damn noise Rafa hears, but has proceeded to serve... But apparently, as you say, it made no difference in that game as Med aced and held serve. Good that Rafa's antics did not affect the match.

He found his energy back. Med looked fresher late in the match but in the 5th that slowly changed and Med looked really weak in his legs.
