I come from the days of RD Ti-70 95 to mp1 to Rdx300 which killed my game. Left yonex for other brands. Came back to vcore 95D excellent racket a bit too power, and went to vcore tour 89 which is suited to my game. Unable to find a replacement frame after 2 years, been trying several yonex rackets including duel g, pro 97, vcore sv 95, vcore 95, ezone dr98, ezone 98. Nothing comes come close to the 89. The new vcore 95 has a faster swing due to its low swing weight doesn't have the plough through i require. I just hope something close to the 89 or 95d will come in the near future. Did i mention those yonex rackets i tried hurt my arm, apart from duel g and pro97.

Almost. Leather grip is my only modification. I play with RPM Blast at 60/56 lbs. 1.20m gauge though.

Hi,
I notice you started out at around 46lbs, then up to 49/46, then up to around 60/56. Was the tension difference due to different strings, or just in general better control with the higher tensions? (Ie. Did you generally keep same string and move from 46 up to 60?)

The reason I ask is that I like different tensions depending on the string - even in the same frames. 4g for example I’d string around 46-47lbs, but swap that out for Alu Power and I’d go for 56-57. For 1.20mm strings I go to 58-60 (Black Code 4s, Razorcode , poly tour pro come to mind).

I’m waiting on some Poly Tour Strike to arrive - and I’ve read various reviews online where most people seem happy with 46-50lbs. While I’m waiting on that to arrive I’m going to try out another string - just haven’t decided which one yet. (I’ve never tested Strike before, or hyper G).

The only exception to liking high tensions for me, is when i string poly in my Fischer Pro 90 frames - then I’ll go for 48/46 usually, but all other frames, minus 4g, I need to string 55-60 to control the ball or I hit back fence.

be default I was going to string 55-60 while waiting for the Strike to arrive, but I see others stringing around 50lbs. Unless the power is as low as the Fischer Pro 90, or Volkl PB10 mid, I couldn’t see myself controlling the power with poly as low as 50lbs.

I’ll report back once I’ve tried a few setups.

I’m tempted to put gut/4g in it at some stage - but since this is a modern fast swinging racket - to me it seems it’s built for poly rather than gut.

(I used to hate 4g as a cross for gut, as I thought it covered up the feeling of the gut - but after playing with tensions, I found out I was wrong (all testing was on the Fischer’s which are very string sensitive, as well as a pro staff 85 ). My preferred setup on the Fischer’s is gut/ 4g at 52/48, or a decent poly at 48/46. I struggle with the weight for the backhand on the Fischer’s so end up slicing too often. Hence I’m always looking at other rackets . I enjoy it though!

Cheers

One word: gauge. Thicker means lower. With that said, I'm starting to realize I like my 1.20m (17L or 18g) at lower tensions as well. The RPM Blast 18g always feels best in my VCORE 95 on its last few days before it snaps. Given I start at 60/56, I wouldn't be surprised if its closer to 45/41lbs by then. I have a set of Hyper G 1.20m that I dropped the tension to 55/52. We will see how that goes.

Demoed the vcore 100 today and really liked it. Anyone switch from the EZONE100 to the vcore 100? Thinking about it but I think the vcore could probably use a little tungsten tape at 3&9.

I recently got the old Vcore Pro 97 (310), but I noticed that it is about 0.5 cm (or 0.2 inches) shorter than my DR 98's. Could anyone confirm if the Vcore is a bit shorter or is this a QC issue?

Any suggestions on tensions for my VC98+? It's currently strung with a full bed of Solinco Tour Bite, but I don't know the tension. A lot of my balls are sailing long. I had a much easier time with my RF97A w/ Grapplesnake Irukandji at 50# and OGSM at 54#. It's possible I just need to spend more time with the racquet, will play another 2 hours tomorrow.

I use Solinco hyper G @ 51 lbs on my SV98+ and it does not play long; however I prefered Volkl cyclone 16 G on it
That being said it's possible that the new version (the Vcore thus) has a higher launch angle

Just got the VCORE 98 in the Galaxy Black colorway and have no idea what to expect. I liked to use Solinco Tour Bite 17 gauge at 48-50 pounds on my old DR98 (which broke when I let go on the serve) and would like to know if this would work on the VCORE 98 as well.

Hello all,
Quick question about the Vcore Pro 100. I have been using the DR98 and it is harsh feeling when you hit high in the hoop. I don’t know if this condition was only for the DRs or if it is a function of the isometric head shape. Does anyone know if the Vcore Pro 100 suffers from the same condition? Thanks in advance.

Hi there.
Did you ever test Yonex Poly Tour Strike out in the Vcore 95? If so - what tensions did you try/like etc?

I tried Black Code 4S 1.20 at 60/56 - it’s very nice, but I’m going to try a few lower tensions just to try out, as found it hard sometimes to connect sweetly on forehand side (no such problems on the backhand mind you! ). Gonna try Alu Power Rough 1.25 at 57/54 next , and Razor Code 1.20 after that (not sure what tension yet).

So I went back to hit with my old Wilson BLX 6.1 95 16X18 and and was having a blast with it. Sadly the grommets are gonna give out soon as the racket is almost 10 years old already and I do not have spare grommets. In Malaysia, it's impossible to get spare grommets as no one is selling them here. The only way to get them is to order from US or Europe but the shipping is too darn expensive.

I do have a VC95 currently but I'm also looking at SV95. Anyone here hit with all 3 rackets? Between VC95 and SV95, which is more similar to the 6.1 95.

If SV95 is more similar to the 6.1 95, I'll sell my VC95 and get 2 SV95. If VC95 is more similar, I'll probably just get another VC95.

I'm intrigued by the SV95, as ime, the SV98 can generate a much bigger ball than the VC98. I really enjoy the VC95, but I wish it was a bit stiffer, with a bit more torsional stability and/or sweet zone.

I used the SV95 and switched to the VC95. The SV feels more modern, stiffer and Pure Strikey. The sweet spot is bigger, but there is a weird hotspot just below the centre of the string bed. I think torsional stability is better in the VC95.

If you can, try the new Pure Strike 18x20. I was very pleasantly surprised. Insane torsional stability and great ball pocket for such a stiff frame.

After messing around with other rackets (technifibre xtc limited, blades, etc.) I always come back to my VCORE 95. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the Hyper G 1.20 which is near snapping. The tension must be in the low 40s if not lower by now since it started at 55/52. I'm thinking of starting back at 49/46 with only 1.20m gauges. I bought a set of Solinco Tour Bite and that will be my next test. If I don't like it I'll stick with Hyper G.

just took the yonex.vcore.98 (red), out for a spin
read the reviews and leaded the stick with 3" 1/4" strips at the shoulders ( 2, 10, 5, 7 oclock)
2' 1/2" lead in the handle,, very smilar setup to my y.vcore.95,, its at 12.2oz now, and 10pts headlight
I started with 17g pros.pro.red.devil string at 50/48lbs, good, but a bit too soft/powerfull string
I swapped the string to 17g yonex.poly.tour.strike 49lbs, and its dialed in.. 4me!!
what I like most (what I was concerned with), was the off center hits and the vibrations I get from the y.vcore.95,,
with the y.v.98 very little vibration now/almost none,,
easy on the 1HBH with plenty of control, power and spin
solid stick now with the extra weight

How was the control in the 98 vs the 95?

Just hit with vcore 95 this weekend for a few hours, and must say control was great, even with a full multi setup (53 lbs). Feel was also amazing, perfect for me. Also sweetspot seemed not as small as other 95 racquets, and played like normal 97/98 in my opinion. Prefer it over even vcore pro 97 due to the feel. Highlights for me were the OHBH and slices. Couldnt hit flat shots that effectively, and power for serve seemed a bit low (compared it to ezone98 which is quite powerful) but this should come in time probably and with some more customization maybe.

Must also mention I added some weight to the hoop and changed the grip, so its over 340gr and 330 swingweight. It still swings very easily and I even felt like I need to add a little more lead in hoop for plow and serves, and be around or above 335 sw..

My Vcore 100 came with poly tour strike stings.
Felt great, much preferred to my ezone 100
Had the racket restrung recently with poly tour pro 125 @ 50/52
Since restring been getting upper arm & elbow pain.
What other setup are others using ?
Was about to buy a second Vcore 100, but may hold off now

How is the launch angle and control on the Vcore with 16x19 for someone that is used to 18x20 ?
it's gonna shoot upwards on you. I tested the VC95 and 98 back when my stick of choice was the SV95 (16x20), and I found the 98 to launch a bit on flatter approach shots. I'm sure you could adjust as it's only a medium density 16x19.

Anyone compared VCORE 95 to VCORE pro 97HD?
not a fan of the HD. As with all 18x20's BH slice is amazing, but I had a hard time dialing in my FH. I just couldn't get enough RHS, even the SW on my VC95 is higher than the HD. I think this is due to the weight distribution (I can't put my finger on exactly what it is though), and the flex in the hoop. The HD is very flexy so it feels like the racquet is lagging behind my stroke. I feel like I sound stupid here, but I just did not gel with the HD at all. I wanted to like it, I think the PJ is epic, but it didn't work for me. If you have a more eastern FH, or more old school stroke, I can see it working very well.

I prefer the G360+ Prestige MP (I hit it a few days ago), but still think the VC95 is the best racquet for my game.

Btw, how does the sweetspot size compare between the two?

Go lower, I use the yellow 1.25 PTP at 40-45# on my vcore 98(it's my teaching stick) and it feels great. If your still getting arm/elbow pain maybe look to add a bit fo lead at 3/9 for some stabillity and to reduce the vibration

Have recently made the switch to vcore95 and had 4gead at 3&9, and added 2g more at 12 and what a difference it made, wasnt expecting it. It has become so much stabler, better on serves, easier on returns and also better on slices. Also changed to multi/poly string at16 is mains and 17 crosses, has helped a lot with my flat shots but realized it needs to be a little higher tension than current 50/47. Used YPTS in the crosses.

thinking of nat gut/poly as my next setup, and curious what tension would suit best, i would probably try 55/50 or something like that...

Tension is all about trial and error. I am settled on 49/46 full poly after venturing from 57/54 to 42/39lbs

I tinkered with lead on my VCORE 95 but ended taking it off and instead just added thicker strings. Currently using Gut/4G soft at 50/47LBS, coincidentally, and I agree it needs to be bumped up. I'm going to try 53/50LBS next, I don't want to make a huge jump and lose the extra power or any spin. With my leather grip and over grip, my VCORE 95 is at 12oz exact. I'm sure the swingweight is at or around 330.

After about 6 months with the VCore 98, I can say it is one helluva frame. It is a super friendly racket to use from all areas of the court. I have more power and spin with this frame and control is great as well. Yonex is one brand that really delivers. I am super glad that I made the change.

I bought a VCore 95 off the large auction site to try. I'll post on it as well.

I bought a VCore 95 off the large auction site to try. I'll post on it as well.

I hit a few balls with the VCore 95 last night. The one I bought of the large auction site came with a modified butt and was strung with NXT at 55 pounds. The butt of the frame looked just like one of Richard Gasquet's. I asked the seller if it could be "un-modified" and he had no idea. Now those of you who like this kind of thing won't find a surprise here. When the racket arrived, I looked at it and could tell almost instantly how it was done. I removed the overgrip and down at the butt, the prior owner had taken another over grip and wound it around the butt of the racket. I unwound it and put a new over grip on. Easy peasy.

In warm up last night, I hit a couple of balls with the 95. The first thing I noticed was the launch angle on this frame is lower than the VCore 98. The next thing I noticed was the uber buttery feel of the frame. I mean this frame feels great. It is not as flexible as the C10, but it is way, way, way, way more plush. I didn't hit enough with it to render a detailed opinion as we were indoors and time is money, but it was a very nice frame.

One other thing that was raised last night...the string. I guess I had gotten to the point I thought I needed poly (like any addict). Since the demise of TiMo, I think I'm going to restring full synthetic gut and see how it goes. Sure would save a lot of money.... :)

I noticed the feel was much different between the VC95 and VC98 also, I wish the VC98 felt just like the 95, i still throw the 95 into my hitting once in a blue moon, but my main stick is the ezone 98 w/ 4g soft at #40, going to try it on my teaching VC98 too soon to see how it feels/changes the angle

@Notirouswithag - yeah, I tell you I was having serious C10 flash backs with the 95. I have become really acclimated to the feel of the VCore 98 and love it. It has a solid feel without jarring your arm. I can really swing away with it.

I now tried 55/50 nat gut with YPTS, and the feeling is amazing but too powerful...my second one is strung multi/poly and prefer this one.. as several already mentioned, poly or soft-poly, at mid-high 40s probanly would work best for me too.. too bad I will waste my nat gut mains...has anyone trieD POLY TOUR AUR in vc95 or even vc98? Not sure soft poly will also give the necessary pop...
