I know. But to me he sort of looked in a lull during, and after, the UsOpen. Lacked something in his game and was missing the fire.
Now he seems to be back again with a vengeance. Good to see him fully engaged. When he is in this mood, he's usually very hard to beat.

He looked in a lull after Wimbledon to me. It was like that took something out of him and then he had the little injury. He has seemed to pick up his level though as we saw in Paris.

The next gen will have to wait another couple of years. This match looks like a pro player vs rookie.
I mean Nadal still struggled a little against Berrettini in the UsOpen - but Novak is absolutely decimating him.
For all the hype, I can still see no slams for next gen in 2020.

Correct. Paris was the first tournament. I think the match against TsiTsiPas sort of put him on FIRE again.

Berettini is clearly the weakest player of this tournament, let’s wait to see what the other ones have to offer.

Hmm. Let's see. Those guys probably wouldn't win a set vs this Novak. Tsitsipas was decimated just a week ago. Zverev doesn't do anything anyway.
That just leaves Medvedev - who seems to be in a funk anyway.

Pretty clean display from Djokovic so far.

Berrettini's forehand letting him down massively today. Novak doesn't even mind having exchanges with him on that side.

Berrettini has no idea what to do, he looked like he had a game plan in the first set but this second set he looks like he's a headless chicken running around just trying to hit the ball in any way Djokovic will allow him.

Hmmm Zverev and Tsitsipas are NOT much better. Novak decimated Tsitsipas just a week ago in similar fashion. vs Zverev it would potentially be worse.
The only guy with a shot is Medvedev..
If I had a wager, i'd say that other than Medvedev - no next gen will win a slam. EVER.

We'll see. Novak looked flat-out unbeatable during the group stages last year but lost to a NextGen in the final.

He's easily my betting favorite to win the tournament, but he's shown plenty of lulls this year. His form can still randomly disappear any moment at his age.

They will win no Slams as long as the race for the record is going.

And by the way, is there even any hype?

This guy Berretini is one worst players ever to play the tour finals.
Pretty lucky the old guard was injured or playing below his level.
Del Potro injured, Nishikori injured, Raonic injured, Murray injured, Isner played very bad, Dimitrov played just well from USO.
Cilic playing his worst tennis.

Read articles. There are TONS suggesting that Big 3 are over and next gen is here. Zverev HIMSELF made a statement to that effect.
All hype and talk, no substance. They won't win any slams in 2020.
The only non big 3 with a chance of a slam is Thiem at French Open IMO.
