Novak seems to be in a bad mood. Celebrated that break for 4-0 in the second a bit too fiery and then immediately went to gift a break, after which he clapped sarcastically at his box.

Apart from that, amazing returning today against a guy who averaged over 130 mph on 70% 1st serves in and won less than 47%.

Federer: "this surface is fast"

TTW posters:
This is just pitiful.I think Djokovic is almost a lock to win this tournament. Federer will have to be playing out of his mind to beat him. Djokovic is so steady from the baseline and the surface is too slow to be able to play aggressive and rush him. Federer needs Dubai court speed to have a chance.

Was Berrettini really averaging over 130 MPH on first serves? I didn't see the speed clock. Averaging 130? I've never seen him serve like that. WOW.

Federer: this surface is fast

TTW posters:
Thank you. The surface is medium fast to "fast," according to Fed, Becker, James Blake and any tennis fan with two functioning eyeballs. The bounce is also low which will not bode well for Nadal if he meets either Fed or Novak.

His returning today reminded me of the returning against Isner last year at the WTF. Consistently returning 137+ serves deep and causing them to panic. The level of returning in that second set was crazy.

Baptism of fire for Berrettini.

Unless his serve and forehand are working at 100% he will never have a chance against an in-form Djokovic at least until he develops a proper return game.

This was a sublime returning day for Djokovic. He was the solid favorite to win this before the tournament started, I put him as the prohibitive favorite now. Nadal and Fed won't touch this game, especially Nadal on this court.

On this form, nobody is stopping Djokovic. Unlike even Fed and Rafa he will just not make any errors (or far fewer than they will at any rate). This surface and these conditions just suit him down to the ground.

His returning actually wasn't bad and he is an ok returner for a big guy. He got 71% of Djokovic's returns in play. Just the problem was Djokovic returned 90% of his and was an impenetrable wall from the baseline.

The only sight doubt is that last year he looked to be in great form and inexplicably lost to the brat in the final. I guess he could lose to someone like Medvedev playing absolutely out of his mind, but Fed/Nadal aren't beating him in this form.

Djokovic on this form is unbeatable here. But as with all the Big 3, they've gotten to that stage in their careers where their forms fluctuate wildly from match to match. Will he be able to bring the same level for every match?

Yea he completely lost his concentration and started missing his first serve, and made errors in the game to get broken. If he hadn't gotten broken then he probably would have bageled Berr.
Also yelled something in Serbian.
I was laughing like, man you've got 6-2 4-0 wtf are you angry about??!! :p

He's a perfectionist. He thinks he's supposed to win every point, every game, every match. It's the making of a champion really but most players hold that frustration inside when they are winning like that because they don't want people to know they are that greedy. Lol. He doesn't hide it though.

Absolutely.
He's a true champ & a real fighter.
(Despite so much admiration, I can't really stop myself from cursing him for 40-15 × 3):)

Just watched the highlights again and it’s great to see Novak in top form again. He’s hitting the ball great! I feel he’s playing the best tennis since that aussi Open 2019 semi and final. Even though Djoko won Wimbledon I never felt he was at his best!

Great to see Djoko playing really aggressive, serving well and his defence back to its best. Long way to go in this event though. He’s so far carrying on the Paris form to here.

It hurts but I think Fed fans will get over it in time as time goes by and Roger is still the greatest Wimbledon champion with 8. No one is touching Roger's record for 15+ years imo, most likely longer.

With nextgen (everygen apart from big4+bighitter4) being so much muggy on grass, I think it's safe for a long time...

Still, he will end up as the least dominant at this favorite slam between the big 3.

Edit: You meant Federer.

It's not over for Federer until he hangs up the racket. He still win end his career as the greatest Wimbledon champion so it doesn't matter if he is least dominant of the three. He owns one of the Slams.

Says who? Is he done winning AO? You don't know this and neither do I or anyone else. He is one away from 8 and matching Federer. How about sit down and wait until he says it's over.
I talked about Federer. Some of his fans can talk about Wimbledon being "more important" than AO or RG, but they just do it in order to feel better, because they know he will probably end up as the least dominant at his favorite slam. If Djokovic wins AO 2020 then 99% of tennis fans will say he is better there than Federer is in Wimbledon. Being 3-0 down in finals against your main rival is just too big of a hole for the so called greatest Wimbledon champion of all time.

They aren't wrong about that though since Wimbledon is seen as more important. It's not fair in 2019 because all Slams have 128 players and all play them but it is what it is. Federer is just lucky that his favorite Slam has always been seen as the best.

He still is the greatest Wimbledon champion because he has more than anyone else. He can always brag though since he beat about everyone at Wimbledon, including Djokovic and consolidated his win in 2012.

After all, in the slam race 1 slam is 1 slam.

Another one bites the dust. I caught glimpses of the match, another dominant performance from Djokovic. He's got his sight set on YE#1, conditions are perfect for him. None of the next-gen guy can really do much damage and I think Nadal will be helpless if he plays Djokovic there. Indoor medium-fast low bouncing court is probably as worst as it can possibly get for Nadal and as good as it gets for Djokovic and also Federer. The only player that could spoil Djokovic's party if he's in-form is Federer.

So losing to main rivals in the final is worse than losing in earlier rounds?

Before the tourney, Djoker was the massive favorite to win it. This match changes nothing in that regard. I wouldn’t be surprised if Djoker doesn’t lose a set the whole way through.

Congrats to Djoker for his record-tying 6th WTF title and his record-tying YE #1.

We were at the match - didn't expect Berrettini to win, but hoped for a bit more fight! My son feel asleep at 2-2 and missed most of the match - which is to say he didn't miss much! :-D

More seriously though, watching any of the big 3 live is always great, even in first gear and cruise control. Djokovic is still so fast, and live you can really tell how much spin he can put on his shots - quite a few that the crowd thought were going out, but just dipped in!

Hard to make anything of this match though, other than that Djokovic is not going to stop himself. Berrettini seemed simply overwhelmed once he got broken, and Nivak knew exactly how to use that to his advantage.

I’m just waiting until Novak starts losing finals in his mid 30’s so I can call him overrated and join your logic.

Dude, I defended Federer in 2014-2015. But this year his loss had nothing to do with age. (well, of course prime Federer would beat this year's Djokovic in 3-4 sets, but it's still a fact 38 years old Federer had the ability to beat Djokovic this year. He failed due to mentality)

Zverev, Medvedev and Tsitsipas can all beat Djokovic on this surface.

once you know to hit a really good two handed BH and once you learn OHB you know the backhand is the reason for all those loses. Djokovic is so steady on both sides...how the **** u gonna win? ultra aggresive game doesnt work every time.

Fed will have problems, and that Berretini match - well we all knew he was gona lose big time. :D
