Which Berrittini clearly does NOT have. If he did, he would have won the 1st set vs Nadal at the UsOpen where the Spaniard was crapping hard.
A potential great player can be seen in advance.
Berrettini does not have the mental cojones to stand up to the big guys. He won't win anything significant IMO. EVER.
He might never win a slam, WTF, or OG, but I think he'll win a Masters at some point. Possibly multiple titles. I don't rule him out from winning those other big titles, but I'd concede it might never happen for him. Still, it's his first season being a top player. He has holes in his game moreso than any other player in the top 8. I think he just needs some more time to develop.

The only game Berrettini wins in the second set is a gifted break from Djokovic then. Good news is Berrettini can still make the semi finals, he just needs to beat Federer and Thiem.:unsure:

I don't agree. Thiem can DEFINITELY beat Nadal at RG. Nadal is declining and aging every year.
Had Thiem NOT player for 4 consecutive days in 2019 F.O the match would have been closer. As it is, it went to 4 sets and Nadal was cramping hard at the end.
2020 Nadal is 1 year older. Thiem is making progress every year - getting closer and closer.
I think he CAN for sure beat Nadal at RG.

He won one set finally. Next year he may win two but still loses. Lol. Nadal is too relentless at RG.

3 games in this match out of a total of 20 he's gonna win for the tournament.

Think he loses like 6-3 6-4 against Fed because Fed don't care once he breaks you.

And Thiem beats him like 7-6 6-4 or something.

I know things have been like this for a long time now, but it's still crazy the skill gap that exists within the top 8 in the world.

This might as well have been a normal 1st round match against an unseeded opponent for Novak.

Remember he won 1 set, but he played for 4 consecutive days. He would have won 2 had he not played as much.
I mean he beat Novak. If Novak had reached the final, he would have given Rafa fits.
Nadal is relentless at RG. But he's declining every year. He's barely finishing matches and first half of the clay season in 2019 he was in a funk.

I think Nadal should be beatable at RG in 2020 and beyond. He is clearly nowhere close to the beast he used to be earlier. I mean just watch his matches in 2017 and the decline is obvious. Keep in mind, clay is the surface which exposes physical shortcomings the most.

This court basically is Dubai speed! Becker just said how fast it was, Fed confirmed on Thursday.

Yeah I read Federer’s quote regarding the speed and maybe it’s just the television feed but it doesn’t look like you can one two punch as effectively as you can at Dubai. Federer needs to be able to end points in two shots to have a chance. He will never win a game of baseline consistency with Djokovic.

Amazing analysis.

Wow i've really triggered you haven't i? Man, i said sorry for implying you were not watching the match and i am repeating it now. If you wanna continue to attempt to troll or annoy me then that's your deal but i'll just add you to my ignore list or we can both move on with our lives and get back to watching the tennis. I really wish Djokovic would get rid of that cringe-inducing celebration lol it never gets any less cringy.

Especially when the crowd is not even responsive like in Paris after the final.

Maybe but no one on tour actually believes they can beat Rafa except maybe Novak since he's the only one on tour to actually do it. Mental part of it is even bigger than the physical part. Thiem had the tools but not the mental imo.

Yea he is declining, except 2017 since that was a masterclass, but I still think even that form is too much for 99% of the tour.

Novak would've gone down in straight sets..
He's not a spring chicken

The crowd was cheering more for matteo..
W19 has only decreased novak's support outside of his hardcore supporters

I don’t know if the crowd was cheering for Berettini, I didn’t notice. But Wimbledon final surely didn’t help. Not that it matters anyway, if some fans are childish and petty enough to hate on a player just because he beat a fav, it’s better to not have their support.

That’s true. We can never know and he could peak too soon again!

Last year, I thought he got a little too cocky. It happens to even our favorite players. His interview before the match was odd since he was talking about the trophy when there was a match to be played. He let his guard down and got handled, after destroying everyone before that match. Have to wait and see if he learned from that.
