Love this drill Ugo does starting at :34. When I get to play with better players this is a favroite of mine, with one net player set and the other player being moved about the court with a variety of shots and volleys.

Found this ol' gem of Nadal v. Gonzales. Some forehand hitting here. Interesting as this was Nadal as he was just coming into his prime, but you could see he still was working through tactics and what not. And dat Gonzlaes FH...boom.

court positioning, footwork, setup positioning and spacing. Awesome.
Well that’s true but what are they good for if you can’t hit the ball well?!
His execution is more impressive in my opinion. He hits every ball with authority, no hesitation. Did you count how many winners he hit there?!

Ughhh, this season has been crap all around, and just had a whole team default a make-up match that we have tried to schedule a few times over the last few months. So get to play some fun dubs tonight with some other team guys. Was watching this for inspiration. One of my all time favorite moments in tennis is watching Fed and Nadal play dubs.

Ok @ChaelAZ give some of us a go. For those court level lovers, make sure you have a box of tissues handy. (Unfortunately just have to put up with some indian guy shouting "Come on Rog-ah" every 10 seconds):

How solid and beautiful Jarryd’s game is!

It’s truly magnificent on the receiving end! And that topspin backhand is a thing of beauty, especially running to his left. I’ve watched dozens of perfectly struck JC one handed whistle passed me off well struck approaches! You should model your game after his!

S&V is the most impressive to me, so solid in movement and volleys. The serve looks great, too.

He tops out low 130’s BUT can Place it anywhere in the box with every possible spin. The kick will jump over your head if you don’t step in aggressively and the volleys are sublime.

Interesting play. Both players have really smart court positioning and shot selection, with a lot of variety. Both close the net well. Wondering if these are pressureless balls as they look slower and sound like it. Good points.

Seems it hasn’t been posted yet, love how they covered it, the whole thing from ball gauge and approach, through explosive body usage, with the very cherry on top of visualizing racquet head come higher than handle to ensure proper racquet face angle. And the quality of demo of course.

Cool to see Grant working with Dayday and Daytri. He has done a few things with another oneof our local coaches (Marisa) and always brings good energy and quality instruction. I talked with him a bit a few years back and he is always nice enough to give advice. I think he is out of California, or at least does a bunch of work out of there. Great post. Hadn't seen this one.

It is a bit misleading though .

The hand fed balls they hit have forward momentum so no resistance or timing issue occures.

When your opponent moonballs you or side back slices a short ball, its much harder to kill.

The dynamics of the ball change dramatically. Sometimes i cant even hit the ball because it doesnt even bounce to my hip level. Especially on clay.

In the video, hand feeds are in forward motion, so the balls are not coming to them with speed or spin.

Try it and you will see the huge difference in timing and difficulty.

Nice video of Nadal and Thiem practicing. Interesting to see just how much spin/dip Nadal has compared to a flatter hitter like Theim. Nadal's ball drops so abruptly compared to Thiems. Both can unload on the ball though.
