List of Rarest Rackets

Can we have an attempt at a definative list of the worlds most desirable and rare rackets. Obviously any racket that is custom built for a player is right up there, but others that are not so common but would be collectors items for various reasons.

Some that i think are classics are the Lendl Adidas frame and more rare is the Minzuno frame. Also the Becker World Championship frame and any and all Madraqs!!

Once I've seen a Prince racquet with a diagonal stringing pattern.. but don't remember the model's name.. does anybody.. I've been told it was a hell to string it!!

Yes and if I recall correctly there were two up for sale on the auction site just last year. Thought I'd saved a couple of pics but can't find them: sorry (would have cleared things up very quickly LOL). Regardless, it was very, very obvious that they weren't merely a paint job but were, in fact, an 85sq 'Classic'.

As to Edberg using it: I'm sure he gave it a try but it would have been like that Adidas racquet he used for one tournament (was it the Seiko?) and then went back to his PS85. I remember umpiring a few of his matches where he used the 'Classic' paintjob on his old PS85 (service linesman sits right next to the players so you get a very close look at their gear) but don't remember a genuine 85sq 'Classic'. Of course, it's unlikely he would have been trialling it during a major tournament.

Andrew, refresh my memory but Edberg used the mid w/o the bumper right?

As for the 6.1 85, I wish I could have jumped on them but I'm sure they would have at least ran for 400USD IMO.

For me the Estusa Power Beam Pro in a 4 5/8 is extremely rare. I've been looking for 1 or 2 for a couple of years now, still no luck.

Does anyone remember 'Spin' rackets i think they were called, they had strings all the way through the bridge down to just above the handle. I think british player Jo Durie used them. Also, anyone remember 'Finn' rackets??

I disagree. A mint PS 85 SV is quite rare.

The Wilson Javelin that Edberg used to use - pretty hard to find.

Believe it or not, Slazenger's Vilas V24 is suprisingly hard to come by as well. I was bidding on one a little while ago and it went for a lot more than I anticipated it would. And to think these were sold at K Mart a few years ago!

I never said anything about the condition of the models, I just said that the SV is not a rare racquet. How is the SV rare when it was mass produced for the better part of one decade? That's like saying the C4 Corvette is rare. Sure, a mint one fetches a good price, but they are not rare in any definition of the word. By your logic, my mint Graphite Matrix widebody from 1993 bought at Sears is a rare racquet.

the head radical trysis 260 midplus was an amazing racquet!!! kinda hard to find...there is a ti pro tour racquet from what I remember that you rarely see as well...

The Prince Mono is still worth some money, particularly if it's in mint condition. It's not worth as much as a mint St. Vincent PS 85, of course.

The Prince Magnesium Pro 90 is rarer than a $3 bill. I've seen a number of oversize Mag Pro's on the bay, but never a mid.

I honestly can't remember but I do believe that (no bumper) is what set Edberg's PS85's apart from other players (also had a more built up buttcap).

Here are the pictures I mentioned of the PS 6.1 85sq - knew I had saved them somewhere. The main pic is a little dark but you can still make out the difference in shape between it and the PS85 (mainly noticable in the throat area).

how about henin's racquet with the 'power slots'. Been looking for that racquet for ages, just can't seem to find it.

Ps 6.1 85

I've seen and held a couple at Your Advantage Tennis in Chicago, which they had courtesy of Wilson. NOT a PJ of the 6.0 85. Wider beam and HEAVY! A friend at the time bought both, but I never got to hit with them....
