Do you wear your tennis shoes when NOT playing tennis.

I LOVE my New Balance shoes and started wearing them for around and about errands etc...ya know...just daily stuff.

Is this a bad idea. Should awesome shoes be worn only on the court?

It depends on how quickly you go through them.

I play primarily on clay, so I don't blow through the outsoles. For me, the midsole cushioning is the limiting factor. With that in mind, they're only used for tennis.

Same with my running shoes. I usually wear my older pair of running shoes for errands or even to work on days after hard court matches (gotta love living in Florida, even professionals have lax dress codes).

Its a pet peeve of mine when people wear their gear outside of the court. Granted, some people would probably go eat in their clothes after practicing and whatnot, but sometimes, I can tell when juniors wear their stuff just to wear it.

The Barricades for example are very cool looking shoes(right now I have the silver/Safin version) but somehow a lot of tennis shoes does not look well with jeans, they are much better paired with a nice warm up/sweat pants, and please no non tennis shorts either. I think because most tennis shoes have a wide base so they can look spread out. So yes one can get away with it paired with sports clothes.

In high school I only really had one pair of shoes for everything... so at that time -- yes.

When I started college I couldnt afford to go through tennis shoes any faster than i already was so I decided I'd only where them for tennis.

Now that I have Barricades with a 6 month guarantee, i where them whenever i want.

Well that's all I wear are my tennis shoes. Although my new ones are used pretty much just for tennis, and my old ones I wear everywhere.

Current ones are used solely (no pun intended) for tennis.

Old ones are use when mowing the lawn.

I normally keep two new pairs as ready backup.

Thanks,

I wear old ones all the time for casual wear. Usually I wear out the soles so they are smooth, but the uppers are still in good condition.

I also wear new shoes that turn out to be bad for tennis- like Nike ShoxAce.

I use the Breathe Free IIs when I play tennis. I wear Barricade IIIs (white with black stripes) mostly when I play, but I'll wear them sometimes when they match my clothes. And I generally do not wear my Nike Shox Ace (White/Red) when playing tennis.

Cool, I thought I was the only one.

I will wear mine on the way to and from a court sometimes, if I am doing nothing else in the interim, however I tend to go through my tennis shoes pretty quickly for proper tennis use, so have a couple of pairs kicking around that I wear at other times.

haha I just have my trusty brown sandals (2+ years now), and will only wear used tennis shoes when it's cold or I need closed toes shoes (damn labs!!).

I wear mine a lot, I only have 3 pairs of shoes.........2 are tennis, and one pair of sandals.. My main shoes Lotto Revenges are the only decent looking shoes I have, I also have my old K-Swiss' but they are worn out with holes in the toe and clay embedded in the sides...

I usually wear sandals to school and such though.

I have 4 pairs of shoes that I currently wear, including the Babolat Team All Court that I do wear outside of tennis - I don't play very much, so it would be a waste not to wear them, I think.
I prefer my Nike Free 5.0 for everyday stuff though, they are very comfortable.

i'm young, most of my shoes are athletic shoes. I wear my black and white breathe free 3s and green and black breathe free 2s around. Besides those I have some Jordans, some shox, and a pair of those Nike "tennis" shoes that look more casual.

The only time that I wear my tennis shoes off the courts if I am trying to break them in a little. I try to keep them clean so i can have better traction on the court, I play on clay at my club and i find if I wear down the soles then the traction becomes a little slippery. Sometimes i will wear them around town, but not frequently.

I keep two pairs. An inexpensive pair for cross training at gym and casual wear (usually new balance) and a good pair, K-swiss ultascendors right now. for match play.

When they wear out I chuck em'.

I wear my tennis shoes for tennis only.

I have other sets of shoes for other things such as training or going out.

Well let's put it this way, when my parents generously dish out the money for my Barricades, they also reminded me of my flip flops

When they are new, ill wear them for a week or 2 just to break them in.
If i have a pair of runners that arent dead, ill wear those instead of needlessly wearing out my tennis shoes.

i wear tennis shoes off court on occassion...barricades look nice w/ jeans, but not the breathe frees. my faves are the a3 forefoots from a few years back...most comfortable shoe, but not durable at all, so i just wear them to work.

I wear my Feather II's outside of tennis because they're so comfortable...but I also bought 3 pair of them so I guess I can use one outside, lol.

I've had "non-tennis" people compliment me about tennis shoes they've seen me wearing casually (without knowing they're for tennis or anything in particular). And, believe it or not, I've seen non-tennis people buying tennis shoes just for wearing around, just because they liked the cosmetics. So...

Heh just the other day I saw a fat dude wearing around some BIIs. So I asked him if he played tennis. His reply was "Why would I want to play a wuss sport like that?" I told him because you are wearing shoes made for tennis. Apparently he bought them for the looks.
