That Oscar is one funny guy.

Can't wait to go down to Florida in July to hit with them. Is there a secret handshake like the grand pubbas or Masons?

I don't really post often here but follow some of the threads...if you guys are ever in the Columbia, MD area I'd be down for playing, theres a bunch of courts here at the various schools in the area that are good to play at...unfortunately I can't really venture outside of the area. I dunno where in Virginia you guys are...DC is maybe half hour, perhaps a little less from Columbia though.

haha Drakulie, you're a class act! You even posted a picture of the felon so that we can recognize him easily next time! I'm just kidding. Oscar did nothing wrong. :p

So last night I met up with the newest member of the chapter to hit around. He is ckuo on TW, and he even brought friends to come along! It was me, ckuo, his friend Tim, and later Charlotte joined us as well. we played at Nottoway Park, at one of the upper courts, where the surface is kind of like carpet, but not really. i have no idea what it was. for those of you in the mid-atlantic maybe you guys can shed light on this. it was like padding. never played on it before.

anyways we start out hitting, and both Tim and ckuo are pretty big hitters i think. right off the bat they were just smashing balls left to right. i think the downside to this is consistency. but ckuo insists he doesnt hit that hard... what do i know? i was on the same side as Tim, and i noticed he is good at volleying from the baseline! then Charlotte arrives and we end up playing a match. it was me+ Tim VS ckuo+Charlotte. somehow i manage to hold serve at least once, haha. Both Tim and especially ckuo got some real good spins on their serves (which i cant do) , and Charlotte aced me one time. yes, i got aced by a girl. *waits for laughter to end* i thought she was going to fault on her first attempt! yea...stupid. she is good at taking the ball on the rise too, because i noticed she planted her feet right at the baseline and pretty much got every ball back. so yea shes good. for a girl anyways;) so we stopped at 5-6 first set. it was getting late.

So overall it was great getting to meet up with someone else on the forum. unfortunately ckuo is leaving for Texas for the summer, so he wont be in attendance for our meetings, which is a shame because he is pretty good. also, he had a bunch of demos he was trying out, and every so often he would just switch rackets and resume playing. it was crazy because for me i am so used to my racket if i just pick up a demo and hit with it i would have to get used to it.

I don't know what those upper courts at Nottoway are called either. Maybe it's called Omni-court, but I don't think so. Anyways, they're hell to play on...at least for me. The surface is really soft, so even if you throw ur racquet, it won't break as easily as in normal hard courts. So, that's the only good thing about it. Good for the joints also.

Here's why I'd rather play Santoro than play on those upper Nottoway courts:

-Bounces are really low.
-Sometimes balls just skid instead of bouncing.
-There are 'dead spots' where the ball will not bounce or bounce too high or just give plain odd bounces.
-All the characteristics resemble that of a grass court, and grass is for cows, not for tennis. ;) Kidding.

I'm in DC near Bethesda MD, but Down Dog’s family lives in Columbia, and she looks for reasons to visit them. So I'd be glad to drive her up, drop her off, and play tennis. Do you live anywhere near Wilde Lake?

I'm less than 10 minutes from wilde lake...I was actually at the Wilde Lake courts watching the highschool county matches that were going on last week, and the highschool courts are right there too. We should work out some time to play, and maybe convince some others to make the trip :)

so you played on it before. i think i like it now...since i did pretty well playing on it last night. but its probably a fluke...you rather play Santoro than on those courts??

Nah...that Santoro thing was a total joke. I would rather die than play Santoro. But, those courts are a pain in the ... to play on. They behave like grass even though it's not grass, and that's not cool!

Roddick always does well on fast courts, and you have the Roddick forehand, so technically you could kick my butt on those courts.

Would love that.

I'll be in Florida in July and plan on meeting up with the South Florida Chapter. See what's really behind those pics. With all that great weather to practice I assume they are very very good. :)

lol trash talking? i was stating a fact. another fact: Kirilenko > Hantuchova.

May I suggest a new thread to vote. Put this nasty topic to rest.

Kirilenko has the body. However Daniela has the better game at the moment and on camera personality. Tough call. Still go with Maria but I suggest date both of them and let us know about it. :)

Any news about a gathering this weekend. I probably won't be able to make because of prior tennis engagements. However, someone should start the conversation. Don't forget to bring a camera.

So, today I played with ckuo. I have to say.....the guy is Sampras on crack! Nice inside-out forehand, good overall game. Too bad he's leaving for Texas on Monday!

Oscar,

I hope your major secret on Tuesday lives up to the hype.

BTW, can't believe you sold your Kfactors! You mentioned Yonex, but I smell a Babolat in your future. You seem the type.

I agree with you there Sup2Dresq. His style shouts out "Babolat"

Can't wait. I really liked Boca. My tournament in July is in Fort Lauderdale. I'll probably set up camp there. How far is Aventura from there?

Love Florida. Spent enough time in Sarasota too love the heat. I could be happy not seeing another snowflake for the rest of my life.
