Slow-mo video of Djokovic hitting the line judge

You need to watch the video again.

It wasn't a glancing blow though nor did it hit her on the side of the head like you claimed.

The ball was travelling:

From the overhead angle, look at where's she's standing, where Djokcovid was standing and the direction of the ball including where she's facing - it definitely seems to hit her in the neck/throat area. Look at the video from several angles particularly 0:36

She reaches for her throat/neck area immediately which give you an idea of the point of impact. She was probably temporarily choking or at least shocked by the impact.

As I said, you can find the bad in anything. Silly way to justify being a twat. There are FOOLS of all colors, yes.

Watching this video, I am reminded of Sean Connery's dialogue from movie The Rock:
"I don't quite see how you cherish the memory of the dead by killing another million. It's an act of lunacy, General, sir. Personally I think you are a ****ing idiot"

Thats not silly. It is actually madness and criminal. It is lives of such people who go about destroying property of others/public whose life should matter least, and thats irrespective of their color, race, sex, size etc. etc.

When you're done with your service game, you throw/hit extra ball that you keep towards ball boys standing back. Federer does it in same fashion or with even more style when he finishes game with an ace. All happened because of overacting of that granny. Tournament managers shouldn't keep such old line persons. Had this ball hit a young man the match would have continued as if nothing happened. Tennis ball doesn't cause you severe injuries - that much is obvious.

Does it make it better or worse that Djoker was looking in the woman’s direction? First I thought worse, now I think better, since it couldve been an example of a player having a little fun with the workers, like Federer enjoys doing. However, Djoker obviously hit it a bit too hard, and probably out of anger, not playfulness. I wonder if that lady had made a bad line call against Djoker in the past? He could’ve been intending to go softer but at the last second, seeing that it was her, he may have added a little juice.

Stop peddling these conspiracy theories. There is zero evidence that the Djoker was defaulted due to his union activities. The last thing tournament wants is the #1 player defaulted.

You are talking like a guy with a tin foil hat!
This doesn't happen often, but I agree with The Bart. I have zero faith that the USTA does anything without an agenda.

He looked in the direction of where the ball was going just as it was leaving his racquet's string bed. No intention at all, no anger:

If you look well at the video, you will clearly see there was a second ball that came out of nowhere and hit the lady. It didn’t come off Djokovic racket. There is certainly a third party involved. My guess is CIA, or RF Foundation.
Grassy knoll = Murray Mound?

Mainad, what have you done??

They just showed the whole incident on my cable. There is no doubt about it. She was hit. She didn’t make any drama. She told Djokovic she was ok. He got her water. Then she left the court.

When you watch it at full speed you can tell he didn't just "tap" the ball. Unfortunately for him and her it hit her in a bad area, but he clearly didn't care at all where he was hitting it until he actually hit her.

Your reaction time needs to be very good to avoid that hit as well, especially as it was so obviously unexpected.

True, but as a wizard of spatial awareness, he should’ve known where she was likely to be. My guess is that doing what he did was intended to give himself just a little bit of a release, hitting the ball just a bit harder than he should have, a little too dangerously in the direction of a linesperson. Obviously without intending to hit anyone, but maybe to come close enough so that the risk of it feels kind of good, to vent without seeming to. Kind of like skimming the tip of your racket against the ground instead of hammering it. Takes out some frustration without looking like a maniac.

Linespeople should be aged 20-40 preferably. Older people don't have the reflexes to dodge/catch a 40mph ball

More like a resentment motivated loose hit. Players do these all the time when they are disappointed with themselves. But there's no aggression to it.

Couple of months ago, when me and my daughter walked her 4 month old golden retriever, another dog's owner hit her (our dog, while she was running) in the head with a tennis ball as he was throwing it for his own dog to catch. Pretty incredible hit, from some 20 meters away. Dog got scared and started to make fearful sounds even though she wasn't hurt at all. :)

This kind of behavior is being eradicated in all sports. It’s about time tennis gets tough on it.

The aggression could be evident in the direction of the ball, but I guess that would be crazy to try to cut it so close. Well, I guess not really. I often throw walnuts at telephone poles with nice cars behind. I enjoy the thrill. If Djoker was doing this, he came within an inch of executing it perfectly.

Another thing to add is that a linesperson isn't a ball boy/girl. Its not her job to run after and catch balls and be aware of this. Clearly she wasn't looking/expecting a ball to come straight at her after the point/game had already been played.

Ball definitely didn't hit this line judge in the throat. She was hit on the side of the head, judging by the bounce trajectory. Also, no immediate reaction as the ball bounces off for a fraction of second without her even moving an inch. Clear case of afterthought fall, not to mention later choking sounds.

I've noticed, both in day to day life and in clinical practice, that there are people who see a conspiracy in EVERYTHING

And other don't see it even when it's poking them in the face.

Anyway, this thread speaks of no conspiracy. Unless you consider lineswoman's overreaction a conspiracy of one?

I think people forget just how recent some of this stuff was.

Literally my mom was already born when MLK was alive and we were still getting sprayed with firehoses. It's no surprise this country is where it is in terms of division, we are only 50-60 years past even being able to go to school with white people.
Taking part in some of those protests was frightening to say the least. I was doing some post doctoral work in Mississippi, and I made a small sign and went and protested for a couple hours with a few of my colleagues. Scary stuff with all the counter protesters, police, etc.
