i cant imagine its that much diff than the gen 2. which to me feels odd. tin like with no stability but hey you never know
Dang, might have to try the 100 then...

Defied the doc's wishes tonight, but I really wanted to try the 16m strike out. I played some doubles on the condition that I would basically be old-man mode, not ever moving faster than a brisk walk.

Definitely non-standard conditions, but I think I actually preferred the 18x20. Hard to compare because it's different courts and it was like 20 degrees out tonight vs 70 the other day, but I didn't feel the same level of confidence. I'm gonna try and get one of each and compare back-to-back.

Interesting. Maybe its the hyper g strings but when i go to my pure drive it’s definitely the stiffest frame by a good amount. Does generate a bit more power but at what cost?

btw i think you were saying tour sniper was not your thing and felt pingy. I may be totally off here, but regardless i noticed the same at first in the 100. The string does break in though and it becomes really nice. More pocketing than hyper g as well. It has a lot of control and really begs me to hit out with it. There just is a break in period first. It lasts rather long though. With a string like Lux, there is no break in but it doesnt last long at all. So i guess thats the trade off.
for pure feel i still prefer s7t by a touch but the tour sniper really works in stiff frames too.

what do you wear to play in 20 degree weather? I need to get some cold weather gear. Not sure im going hitting in 20 degrees though. Lol.

So, I got to hit with the EZone 100. It turns out it was strung with a full bed of Yonex PTP (the yellow one).

I spent the entire session hitting with the demo frame. This thing is an absolute winner. I started out sailing a lot of shots long because my timing and swing speed was way off. It took about 20 minutes of rally hitting to get myself into a comfortable groove and feel adjusted enough to start set play.

All the highlights have already been covered in this thread. But the frame has generous and easily accessible power yet retains a substantial amount of control. Groundies were a breeze and I found an easier balance of drive and spin than I've had with my other frames. I didn't have the pinpoint accuracy of the UT but I could target a general area and drop the ball in there with ease. I made good use of the ample spin potential to put away a few approach shots for winners. I kept working on the 2HBH and greatly enjoyed the amount of drive I was able to put behind it and keep it in the court. The slice backhand was good but didn't seem as nasty as usual with the UT or 6.1

I was surprised at the net by how well the racquet responded. It's not 6.1 or leaded UT stable but it got the job done. It was noticeably good on punch volleys.

But where this frame has the ability to really help my game is on the serve. The pop on the serve with this frame is crazy compared to my current frames. First serves were coming off visibly zippy. I didn't try to paint the corners just yet but I got the impression that targeting would not be an issue. But the kick serves were unreal. I was able to accelerate the racquet faster and produce a sharper drop and bigger rebound.

This is a really, really, really, good frame.

Just sweats and long underwear, if there's no wind it's actually pretty toasty when you get moving. I thinky foot's gonna be good to go a lot sooner than the like 3 weeks the doc gave me too, so that's good news.

The last few days are the types that I like to send weather app screen shots to my Colorado buddies from the front range and from Florida. Haha. You need to get one of those soprano track suits a la Paulie and be all bad ass out there.

It'd probably be better, but I'm too cheap for that until it starts being a serious issue. At some point I'm sure it will, though.

I'm realizing I probably should have just bought an 18x20 strike from my local shop and then got a used 16x19 from the classified's here - it's nearly impossible to find an 18m used! Not sure what compelled me come back from a demo I really enjoyed and buy a different version of the frame I really liked.

I must have missed where You posted you got injured. Hope you get better soon.

when I got to the courts tonight it was already lightly drizzling. We thought we’d hit around anywyas and hopefully it would pass through quickly. We only got about 20 minutes in before it started pouring.

I started with my PT2.0 as that’s what I was most excited to try out. it took me a few minutes to figure out the Timing, and right amount of spin and power to use with it but once I did . . . Man, what a racquet. Great feel and very deep penetrating shots. My BH slices stayed low and deep as well. I wish I could have gotten more time with it. My hitting partner thought I was getting good RHS even though it didn’t feel like it to me. I actually didn’t find it that difficult to swing. I’d say in that aspect it’s in the same range as the 6.1 Classic PS. It’s not a match play racquet for sure but it is a fun racquet to hit with it. I’m glad I picked it up.

The pt2.0 is a brilliant racquet. The more I play the more I like it. My second choice racquet behind my PST. I actually find it great on everything but my OHBH, just can’t dial that in. Playing a 4.5 friend tomorrow let’s see how it goes.

Turns out I found the solution to horrible strings in demo frames......

About 6 shots in that happened with the Iga. Called TW and they said I can restring with whatever I want, so went with S7T main and Lynx crosses. Will hit again tomorrow. Those 6 hits did feel great though.
Nice shoes bruuuh.. heh.. got the same ones. :-D :-D :-D . they are comfy as hell. Holics gotta be holics on everything. I finally upgraded to a dedicated tennis closet in the house. :X3:

Yeah, I feel you 100%. Besides the initial pinging sensation the issue I came across was that I was wearing out the edges way too fast for Tour Sniper. Lost its shape/edges way faster than Hyper-G and I felt the string was inconsistent over time maybe because of that. We received sets for all of our guys in our squad and I think every single one of them just moved on, never really wowed by it. Main string for the team being Hyper-G it was a pretty open and shut case.

After reading your feedback and others, I am guessing it's because either the sets sent were cut from a reel that was from a bad batch perhaps, or maybe the string just might be a better fit for a denser pattern racquets because I know some guys who use 1.30 primarily since they break any thinner gauge than that and wear them out fast.

Yep. tough call for me there but ill log more hours on this setup and post more feedback. I think my favorite in the 100 is still s7t but id like to see if i can get more durability from the tour sniper.

im curious what other strings feel like s7t and can last a little while.

i also have hyper g i will try as well. Both regular and soft. Its lasted longer in the PD than s7t but seems to break in, pocket and then stiffen back up. May just be the pd21 that causes this feeling though.

100% my experience with HG especially in thinner gauges like 1.20. I found the 1.30 gauge to work best for me in open 16x19s with thick beams like the Pure Aero. 1.30 initially feels less stiff than 1.25 and does not fall victim as easily to that eventual stiffening effect you mentioned. It is my pick of the litter for the tween game.

good stuff. I thought you may have a longer adjustment than this coming from such a heavier frame. If you are already grooving with it, it will only get better. Really good first outing

The slice will get there but it is not as automatic as with an ultra tour off the bat. But its starting to get there for me to where I can approach with it dtl with confidence.

Big difference i notice when switching between the ut and 100 - i have my ut setup for really nice linear power, so it can generate a big shot. But I definitely use more energy playing the same way i play with the 100. The 100 makes playing a big baseline game easier in terms of endurance.

I've always thought that about shaped strings with too many edges. The more edges you have, the closer to a round shape you would have. And that only becomes more round the thinner you go in string gauge. I seem to remember when shaped polys started becoming popular that 5 was the most common number of sides but then they started increasing. I think Hyper G only has 4 sides which gives it an advantage in shape maintenance and spin production.

It really is. Now that I'm driving the FH more and my swing path is more linear I have a slight itch to pick up a 2019 again to see if I can use it pain free since I'm not putting as much torque on my elbow as I used to. That and the EZ 100 :p.

I had to keep telling myself not to swing like I do with my other frames because I could let this frame do some of the work for me. Once I relaxed a bit and stopped trying to muscle the frame around, I found a much improved hitting experience. Like I said, I'm quite impressed with this racquet from just one session.

The slice is going to take some adjustment, I'm guessing that the frame stiffness doesn't allow for the same kind of stringbed response to really bite on the slice. So I'll have to look at increasing the acceleration to get comparable action.

Couldn't agree more about baselining with the 100. I wouldn't call it effortless but definitely more manageable and creating big shots is easier. There's also a huge defensive advantage with the 100. I found that the free power put more pace on defensive shots and some of those returns ended up being troublesome for my hitting partner if not being outright winners.

I was curious if the comment about Hyper G not pocketing for you had more to do with the PD than the string, as PDs and APDs, in my experience, just don't pocket like the sticks I prefer and rather shoot off the bed, adding to that direct power you get. I say that only because Hyper G pockets fantastically for me, but then again I'm generally hitting nothing but soft frames so maybe it's the reverse and I'm getting pocketing from the sticks rather than the Hyper, or some combo of both. Just a thought. Really seems like s7t is the string for you, though. Don't force Hyper if you end up just not feeling it.

Speaking of the G, I've always gone with 16L or 17 depending on the stick, but the shop I bought the Iga from (strung with G 16L) tossed in an extra set of Hyper G 16 in the racquet box they sent me even though I didn't pay for an extra set and double checked the receipt. Best guess is that they did so because the racquet box the frame came in had a rip in it, so perhaps they figured since the frame was just being sent locally (same city) through the courier they would just send the bad box (frame wasn't at all damaged) but toss in an extra set. Anyway, I don't think I've ever tried the 16g before. But seeing @haqq777's comment above makes me think I'll like it just fine. And let's face it, I wonder if I would actually be able to really tell any difference between 16 and 16L if I wasn't already beforehand that there was a difference.

Its interesting because the hyper g did pocket in the pd for a bit and then went back to firm again. So im not sure if its the frame or the string. I’ll definitely give it another run once i get another ezone. Id like to compare strings next to each other ideally. Plus i have 2 packs of the soft version i really want to try.

but yeah so far s7t is the best string i have used since rs lyon. Closely tailed by tour sniper. I just would like to see if i can get a little more durability out of the s7t in the 100.

I also have a conundrum at hand.. getting a steal of a price for two but from a junior female who uses size 1/8. Will heat sleeve take away magic? It raises weight and will alter balance..I dont mind weighting up at hoop to counter but don't want to too much.. I'm 6'2 175. Big hands and by old school method should be size 5 (4 5/8) but I use size 3 (4 3/8) since I like small. But that 1/8 is way too small...

Any advice gents? I fear i might needs to pass..

If I remember correctly heat sleeving adds 6-12 grams depending on which thickness you use. I guess it depends on what your tolerance and sensitivity is. For me the beauty of these tweens is playing them as close as possible to stock form. You could also do custom foam pallets but that will obviously be more expensive - I know a guy if you want to go that route. Or if the hairpin is rectangular like on the 98 Tour you may be able to throw some Head pallets on there after removing the foam. Unstrung Customs also offers a 3D-printed custom pallet service so they may be able to help you out too.

There is a lot of truth to this. Yesterday when I first picked up the 100, my first thought was that the beam was too thick and it was way too light. I had to convince myself not to hate it before I hit with it. And I'm glad that I did.

As far as the handle size, I've been assured by a reputable source that foam handles/pallets can actually be removed and be replaced with Head pallets with relative ease.

20 grams for full size heat sleeve actually.. thanks for the options..I don't think custom handles will work will end up way too expensive for me...i can pop up the butt cap and check for hairpin though...if its rectangle I have some head pallets lying around that might work! Great tip thnks..

First Wilson Ultra Pro 16x19 in the 'For Sale' forum that I've seen. It's a grip size too small for me, but I thought some in here might be interested. Check it out.

It's at a really good price too. How many do you have now?

It pains me to say this but if I could only keep 1 between the UP 16m or the UT, I think I would choose the UP.

WOW. Hard pass for me.
i think 20g is for the untrimmed 1 size heat sleeve.
i have done a few in the past and after trimming, it was around 15g on the full handle. i recalled a couple of times where i only add the heat sleeve half way up on the handle to get the grip size i need, but wanted to keep the overall weight as low as possible, since i was using OHBH anyway, so that didn't matter for me.

I wouldn't do it at two grip sizes down; between the weight and just the idea of the heat sleeve/feel, you'll be thinking/overthinking about it all the time if nothing else. Better to pay more and just have it right.

I think you get a big help from stiffness rating going down when you get up to 17g but stiffness is similar (if i remember correctly) between 16 and 16L. now I am wondering if I should give the 16 a chance.... you guys constantly throwing variables at me... the problem is laws of combination and permutation point to endless testing of racket and string combos.... focus focus..

20 grams for full size heat sleeve actually.. thanks for the options [...]

I am a grip 4 + overgrip, and usually I get more options for used rackets at grip 3. I have been very happy so far with the LOROW SIZ-UP, for me it adds 8.8g to go one size up and doesn't mess up the bevels. I think there are thicker (+2,+3) versions, but don't have any idea about their weight.

There is a lot of truth to this. Yesterday when I first picked up the 100, my first thought was that the beam was too thick and it was way too light. I had to convince myself not to hate it before I hit with it. And I'm glad that I did.

As far as the handle size, I've been assured by a reputable source that foam handles/pallets can actually be removed and be replaced with Head pallets with relative ease.

id just be careful that it doesnt remove the vibration tech in the handle. Would suck if you did and then the frame didnt feel as comfortable. I am not sure if the foam is between the pallet and hairpin but its worth looking into. That tech really seems to work for me.
