This one is the most surprising. He never dominated in this tournament, had many losses, including not even reaching the semifinal for 3 straight years in 2015-2017. And even when he won it were usually close, dramatical battles. Who could possibly believe it will happen when he lost to Thiem in 2017, that he will win it 3 more times?

Rafa fans believe in Rafa. Non-fans don't.

I like how Nadal appreciates all the titles he wins as if they were the first or the last one.
He said in his presser he wanted this badly. He said as he had cracked 10 at MC FO and Barcelona he desperately wanted Rome. What fascinates me is absolutely no differentiating the events status wise.

If 10 titles isn't domination, then what is??

What happened in Monte Carlo, happened.
And what happened in Barcelona, happened.
What happened in Madrid, happened.
And here we are.
We are in Rome.

Even if he didn't win, he'd have swept the RG and then @Atennisone would have edited this clip for us and made

"What happened in Monte Carlo happened and what happened in Barcelona happened and what happened in Madrid happened and what happened in Rome happened and here we are, we're in Paris."

It is just unreal. Really is special. Rome meant a lot to him today clearly. So much for me saying only slams matter lol
Absolutely right, gentleman. People who say that big 3 don't care about non slams are wrong. They are old and hence can't maintain their consistently high level week-in week-out, plus BO3 gives less time to regroup or to find mojo back. That's why more losses happen at that level.

Rafa said he wanted a 10th Rome badly to match MC and Barcelona and FO. So i am not sure the players solely judge themselves and each other on slams.

High altitude is the reason. Though I'd not say 5 titles as a stain by any means, gentleman.
He’s a Spaniard and fan of the Real Madrid, he should have been acclimated to Madrid already.
Madrid is not that high. That nonsense should be stopped.
Hamburg is at sea level.

Realistically speaking though, he is Lucky to have 5 in madrid/hamburg. Fededer virtually gifted that 2008 title to him (not that I'd deny such a gift, but yeah that's true)

In Spanish, these lines are more powerful.
People should learn Spanish, just to appreciate them in their original state.

AND HERE WE ARE. WE ARE IN ROME. :D

I’m not sure it would be as great in his native language. His off-kilter English adds a lot. Though there is nothing off about this particular quote.

Yes, it also works the other way round. Spanish speaking people who already don’t should learn English as well.
