*sigh* i've been wanting to pick up a tc95 again since my last stint in 2014ish time period. picked up one in 27.25 with a grip A. can't wait to give this a try again.

*edit* tc95 16M

But do you also prefer a stiffer/harder handle?

hm, valid point... i guess i dont... i dont know really, never played with leather grip... is there some advantages of a stiffer handle?

I really don't think that your TC97 is going to be more powerful than your Beast.
Maybe if you'd said a TC100 I'd believe it more, but not so much the TC97.
i think it will be if i go to 10g heavier and half an inch longer... in the ideal world i would retain or improve the control bcs of 18x20 and gain power...

As for this, just be aware that a leather grip will also make the racket "less comfortable" since you're getting a more direct feedback to your hand.
Also, Angell are built to spec, regardless of the customisation, i.e. your racket will be 330g w/ Leather, meaning if you eventually want to swap to synthetic it will be ~8-10g less or however much difference there is.

maybe thats a good thing bcs i can remove some weight if 330g will be too much?

I currently play with a Yonex Vcore Pro 97 HD and a Yonex Vcore 95 (2021 version).

I love my Pro 97 HD, but it is not quite as maneuverable as I'd like and not quite as much power as I'd like.

That's why I got the Vcore 95 because (at least to me) it is way more maneuverable and has more power.

Problem with the Vcore 95 is it hits long a little too much and not quite as accurate as my Pro 97 HD.

So I figured I'd try and find a racquet that was the best of both worlds.

I made an impulse buy and bought an Angell K7 Lime on Sunday. Should have it to my house by next Monday. Fast service!

Anybody ever hit with both the Pro 97 HD and the new Vcore 95?

Just trying to figure out if my impulse buy was silly or not.

:)
The k7 lime could definitely work out for you.
I played this frame and also the VC95 and duel G 310 (with lead, about the same specs as the HD).

not as speedy/ maneuverable as the VC95, but more speed than the HD. More control than both the VC95 and HD because of the tight 18/20. Comfort about the same.

I would add a little lead @12 (1 or 2grams) on the k7 lime and counter balance in/ on the butcap. Definitely try this frame with a crisper and thinner poly stung at max 22kg. I regretted playing the k7 lime with a too muted string. Not a good idea, since the racquet itself is soft already.

enjoy

The stiffer handle should let you feel the bevels better, but it can also tired your hand out for being to hard and can also transmit more shock/vibration to your hand/wrist/arm.

*Press X to doubt*

AFAIK the Beast range is a moderately stiff tweener type affair, whereas the TC97 is regarded as being one of the successors to the PT280/630, a rather solid and plush control racket.

Maybe the extra 0.5" adds the extra leverage you want, but i still don't think it will have anywhere near the level of pop compared to the Beast.

I like the new paint, subtle changes like this definitely keep the Custom lines identity.
Completely personal wish but I’d of liked a lower RA option for the TC97/ 101’s.

Looking at mine, the K7 Lime has a slightly more open string pattern.
I was under the impression that TC95 18x20, TC97 18x20 and Lime all share gromments. I will have a closer look to see if I can spot any difference between my TC95 18x20 and Lime in the string pattern.

does the TC97 16x19 have the same exact string spacing as the TC95 16x19? any chance someone would be willing to upload a picture of their strung TC97 16x19? thanks

As with the 18x20 string patterns, the grommets for the 16x19 TC95, TC97 and K7 Red are the same. You can check this if you measure the distance from the top to bottom cross string and the left to right main string.
On all 3 of the frames the distance from top to bottom cross is 10 inches and the left to right mains is 7.5 inches. This gives all 3 of the frames an intersected string area of 75 sq inches.

Little 18x20 TC95 update. I've been injured, so not playing as much, but still had a hit or two.

Now that I'm dialed in, my one hander backhand is pretty much the best it's ever been with this stick. I can crack it cross court, but I can also guide it nicely down the line. My backhand is definitely my weaker wing, but I hit more backhand winners than forehand winners last night, so that says something.

It does lead me to the forehand, where I'm starting to struggle a little with the launch angle when I try to really rip it. I didn't feel that problem initially, but that may have just been me honeymooning. I think I'll probably adjust, but it's going to take some work. Plenty of lateral control, but I still get a bunch of balls in the bottom of the net or sailing long.

From memory, you strung your racquet at 48 lbs... right?

Next time maybe try to make the crosses 3 lbs lower than the mains. That will give you some additional launch angle and pretty much solve things.

Glad you're enjoying the racquet. Hope you get better soon.

I can later tonight when I'm back home.

But iirc, they share the same grommets.

EDIT: Nvm, they're separate entries on the website at least.

Does anyone have a guesstimate of the swing weight of a tc97 16x19 310 g 315 mm 27,25 inches?
It’s usually about additional 10SW per 1/4”. Standard unstrung should be around high 290s to low 300s (I think it is similar to the TC95).
usually add about 30SW for the string… so for this one it’s be around 340SW

I really, really like this new V4 paint job. It looks a bit like an intermediate between the old copper and octane ones. Looks brilliant with a tan PU or leather grip. I also think it's very clever to now offer more weight / balance options, with static weights available in 5g increments.

I'm pretty sure I'll pick a couple of TC95 18x20 at some stage. Not sure if I'll get them at 310g / 315mm as the ones I have already, or go for the newly available 315g / 310mm option. I'd have to ask Paul what difference in SW to expect between the two.

Alas, this will have to wait a bit, as I have arthroscopic surgery to my left shoulder in 3 weeks to fix the supraspinatus and the labrum, which have been bothering me for some time, and won't get better on its own or with physio alone. That will take me out of action for 2 - 3 months, which is a shame, as I am currently playing some of the best tennis of my life at the ripe old age of 51. Thank God, I am right handed with a OHBH, so surgery to my left shoulder shouldn't mess with the mechanics of my shots, the serve especially.

Come to think of it, after going through the procedure, and if the physio is successful, I'll treat myself to this couple of V4 TC95's to reward myself. That's something to look foward to.

Thanks. Been swinging my gravity pro with sw 330 lately and tried my prince Tour NXG Graphite MP 330g 310 mm 27.25” sw 331. Now I wanted something in between and a bit lighter for better maneuverability. Might still be too heavy then I guess.

i was told by Paul that the same specs but in 27" has a target sw of 295
Ok thank you. Adding 0.25” should add 10 in sw. And then strings another 25-30. I think I could handle 335 but no more. I think I’ll go for a try.

Does anyone know if the maneuverability of an extended vs non extended feels the same if the sw is the same on both.

edit: what I want to compare with is my gravity pro in the low 330s strung.

Depends where you live. I am on the US East coast, and my order from the UK was here in 5 days. By comparison, orders from California reach me in 7 days.

And those days are after order placed? For a custom racquet?
From experience, order is shipped around 7 days after it's been placed. Though each time I ordered additional items, like t-shirts or racquet bag. I guess for racquets alone it can be anywhere between 5 days and 10 days,
