Ten burning questions (or at least lukewarm)
  1. Will we see a new champion in Miami or IW?
  2. How does Medvedev handle the pressure of no. 1?
  3. Can either defending champion (Norrie, Hurkacz) repeat?
  4. What's a good result for Tsitsipas, Berrettini, and Rublev?
  5. Jannik Sinner is defending a lot of points in both, can he break even?
  6. Has Jenson Brooksby lost his mojo or can he wreck havoc on home soil?
  7. Will Zverev learn from his mistakes or will #ABZ score again?
  8. Does Carlos Alcaraz reach his first M1000 final?
  9. Which Gen 2000+ goes further: FAA, Sinner, Alcaraz, Korda or Nakashima?
  10. Which American goes further: Fritz, Paul, Opelka or Brooksby?
Bonus: Where is Francis Tiafoe?

@Jokervich understands. He's no longer biased by the big 3 virus that has infected this board. "I can see clearly now the hate is gone..." (y)

Today, the board is crowded with Andy Roddick threads...but post-Miami, you will be where @Jokervich is today. :sneaky:

Well I do prefer the big 3, but I thought your questions deserved an answer. :p Lets see how many I get right.

Lol, doesn't everyone prefer the big 3? It's when people can only talk about the big 3 that I start to get worried...:cautious:

  1. Will we see a new champion in Miami or IW? Yes for both
  2. How does Medvedev handle the pressure of no. 1? He'll be fine
  3. Can either defending champion (Norrie, Hurkacz) repeat? Probably not, either winning would be more shocking than their first titles
  4. What's a good result for Tsitsipas, Berrettini, and Rublev? All three should be happy with a pair of QFs or better
  5. Jannik Sinner is defending a lot of points in both, can he break even? He'll be lucky to keep half those points, tbh
  6. Has Jenson Brooksby lost his mojo or can he wreck havoc on home soil? He's fine, running into Zverev isn't "losing your mojo"
  7. Will Zverev learn from his mistakes or will #ABZ score again? #ABZ never loses on a long enough timeline
  8. Does Carlos Alcaraz reach his first M1000 final? Doubtful, but possible
  9. Which Gen 2000+ goes further: FAA, Sinner, Alcaraz, Korda or Nakashima? Felix
  10. Which American goes further: Fritz, Paul, Opelka or Brooksby? Fritz or Brooksby

  2. Not well
  3. No
  4. QF is good for any of them
  5. Yes
  6. Lost the sauce
  7. No, but he will still make a SF
  8. No
  9. FAA and Nakashima - SF in IW
  10. Opelka

Ten burning questions (or at least lukewarm)
  1. Will we see a new champion in Miami or IW? We should, I don't see either of Hurk/Norrie repeating
  2. How does Medvedev handle the pressure of no. 1? Not well, partly due to the Russia situation, partly bc his confidence is in the toilet after these beatings by Nadal
  3. Can either defending champion (Norrie, Hurkacz) repeat? They can theoretically. Norrie will not, Hurkacz very small chance
  4. What's a good result for Tsitsipas, Berrettini, and Rublev? Tsits and Rublev - making at least one final. Berrettini - a top 10 win (any top 10 win).
  5. Jannik Sinner is defending a lot of points in both, can he break even? Yes and I am eagerly awaiting to see him play.
  6. Has Jenson Brooksby lost his mojo or can he wreck havoc on home soil? Did well in Dallas, will lose to better players but could see him making a QF or something
  7. Will Zverev learn from his mistakes or will #ABZ score again? He will learn from them imo but remains to be seen. without the Acapulco disaster, would have had him as a favorite.
  8. Does Carlos Alcaraz reach his first M1000 final? Comes a little early for my taste imo. But he certainly could.
  9. Which Gen 2000+ goes further: FAA, Sinner, Alcaraz, Korda or Nakashima? FAA hopefully, Sinner and Alcaraz are threats to make SFs/Finals as well
  10. Which American goes further: Fritz, Paul, Opelka or Brooksby? Opelka with the right draw, but imo it will be Fritz.
Bonus: Where is Francis Tiafoe? Hurt/rehabbing apparently

  1. Will we see a new champion in Miami or IW? Only in Miami as Nadal won't play there.
  2. How does Medvedev handle the pressure of no. 1? Not well as he will lose to Nadal.
  3. Can either defending champion (Norrie, Hurkacz) repeat? Not if they face Nadal.
  4. What's a good result for Tsitsipas, Berrettini, and Rublev? Getting to a SF or final to lose to Nadal.
  5. Jannik Sinner is defending a lot of points in both, can he break even? Only if he is in the opposite side of the draw from Nadal.
  6. Has Jenson Brooksby lost his mojo or can he wreck havoc on home soil? See Answer #5.
  7. Will Zverev learn from his mistakes or will #ABZ score again? See Answer #5
  8. Does Carlos Alcaraz reach his first M1000 final? See Answer #5
  9. Which Gen 2000+ goes further: FAA, Sinner, Alcaraz, Korda or Nakashima? The one who does not face Nadal early.
  10. Which American goes further: Fritz, Paul, Opelka or Brooksby? See Answer #9.

  1. Hopefully Nadal in Miami, would be a very welcome new champion
  2. As well as he handled the pressure put on him by the real # 1 at the AO and Acapulco
  3. Hopefully not in the case of Miami because Rafa is coming for his first title, he's in form, his old rival Djokovic is out of the way, now is the time
  4. Losing to Nadal
  5. He will if he can avoid Nadal before the break even point
  6. Maybe, as long as he can avoid Nadal
  7. Zverev is extremely overrated... by himself mainly, now that Rafa is coming back into form after his injury break, Zverev's false # 3 ranking will fall
  8. Possible for Nadal's son
  9. Whichever avoids Nadal the longest in the draw
  10. Whichever avoids Nadal the longest in the draw
Bonus: Tiafoe is nestled comfortably in Rafa's bird coop with the rest of his pigeons

The most interesting question is whether Rafa will play Miami and whether he can finally win it. Then I think he only needs Paris to complete the Masters CGS, right?

A lot of people are saying Rafa won't play. I think he should skip IW and play Miami, but what do I know.

  1. Will we see a new champion in Miami or IW? A new M1000 winner, odds are 70-30 against it.
  2. How does Medvedev handle the pressure of no. 1? He doesn't care. Medvedev thrives on pressure, he is not a typical NextGenner.
  3. Can either defending champion (Norrie, Hurkacz) repeat? Of course not.
  4. What's a good result for Tsitsipas, Berrettini, and Rublev? The usual: semis and quarters.
  5. Jannik Sinner is defending a lot of points in both, can he break even? Hopefully he loses early in both.
  6. Has Jenson Brooksby lost his mojo or can he wreck havoc on home soil? Who?
  7. Will Zverev learn from his mistakes or will #ABZ score again? A boring question... not worthy of answering properly.
  8. Does Carlos Alcaraz reach his first M1000 final? No.
  9. Which Gen 2000+ goes further: FAA, Sinner, Alcaraz, Korda or Nakashima? FAA, but he won't win a M1000 any time soon.
  10. Which American goes further: Fritz, Paul, Opelka? Hopefully Opelka, we need more entertaining giants.
