For those who need "experts" to form an opinion.

And news flash not a single one picked Rafael. ( Nothing against Rafael, just proving a point here.)

Spoiler: People picked up Federer, Murray, Sock, Mahut, Lopez.

I think it’s the understanding of when to approach and not the actual volleys where Rafa is the best. He doesn’t rush to the net like a headless chicken.

PS : I don't even agree with half the picks of the pros here. At best I will agree with Novak and Andy saying that there are several guys who overall volley better but Federer is complete package.

This is for those who were vehemently defending Woodforde and McEnroe's "expert opinion" .

They can let me know why these active players who actually have played/watched Nadal in person are so unaffected by his net skills that his name doesn't even come up.

Hey don't define what "best volleyer" means. Surely this guys who have decades worth of playing tennis understand it's definition better

Also enlightened knowledge sages like Woodforde and McEnroe meant best volleyer it in absolute terms.

if the comments by Woodforde are read carefully, he means the timing of rafa approaching the net is good, rather than the volley normally discussed.
i am not saying rafa is the best at volley but they should not be mixed up
Sock, Mahut, Lopez of course can have better volley
but for one with a faked injury, rafa's volley i think at least is better than djoker's
and please note that i am not saying rafa is a better grass player than djoker

Don't try to give context and mould the words of the experts.

There's literally no way they don't mean it in absolute terms. Once spoken these are the words to be set in stone and taken as absolute facts. No contextual understanding required because "experts" are always right.

I think for Djoker there is an element of not wanting to give a serious threat any more credibility than necessary, either in his own mind or his opponent's.

It’s probably true that guys like Mahut, Sock, Pavic etc have better volleys overall than the singles players simply due to necessity and repetition.

Saying Nadal is the best vollyer on tour is like being the best basketball player on the smurfs. Not worth highlighting.

Federer is the only modern player that won a major playing serve and volley most of the time in WB 2003.
