Rafa - a Businessman

Rafa has achievements in the food sector, too. His restaurant Tatel offers the best cheesecake in Madrid. The head pastry chef of the restaurant, Pedro Moreno, won the contest for the best cheesecake in Madrid, held by the Association of Cooks and Pastry Chefs on July 26.

Guys, I am so nervous. I can hardly spend much time here. But thank you so much for the updates.

(I just want the Open so bad!! Then, I promise, tennis gods, I'll quit asking for Rafa wins...well until AO23. Then that's it. Promise. Well, the French is right after.. but that's it. Swear.)

Even with all the worry, tennis is just not the same when Rafa is not in the draw.

Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre in Greece

Carlos Moya is visiting the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre located within Sani Resort in Greece. The resort is situated less than one hour's drive from Thessaloniki, a city in Northern Greece. This is Moya's second visit to the RN Tennis Centre in Greece, he made his first visit there in August 2021.

The tennis centre was founded in spring 2019. It was the second of its kind after the first centre was inaugurated (by Rafa himself) in Costa Mujeres near Cancun, Mexico, in February 2019. The tennis centre at Sani Resort has 8 clay courts on which tennis courses are available to players of all ages and levels.

Sani Resort won the “Best Hospitality Innovative Family Resorts” award at the Connoisseur Circle Hospitality Awards 2021, the “Best Hospitality Sustainable Hotel” award at the Connoisseur Circle Hospitality Awards 2022 and the “Best Sustainable Holiday Resort for Families ” in the Travel & Leisure category at the Marie Claire UK Sustainability Awards 2022.

Toni Nadal visited the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre at Sani Resort in July 2019 and 2022. Rafa’s father and agent Carlos Costa went there in July 2021. Rafa has never visited it.

Why do people think he dreads Cinnci so much?? He did win there before....What's his record other than that like? I appreciate the courts are faster than US Open....Are the balls very different or something also? Did I read that somewhere also maybe?

Thanks.

Is it not the case that for the past two seasons, he missed the whole North American hard court swing, not just Cincinnati. Prior to that in 2018 and 2019 he won the Canada Open so didn’t need to over do it by playing Cincinnati. Before that he did play Cincinnati but he was younger then and entered more tournaments.
There are others here who can probably answer your question better.

Anyone surprised he's playing Cincy? I thought he'd just skip it and go straight to USO because he generally has trouble with the conditions at Cincy and they're very different to USO, so it's not like Cincy is great prep for him. I am of course pleasantly surprised he's playing because that means I get to watch him sooner than expected.

Because Cincinnati now has the same surface as the USO? The USO changed to the new surface in 2020, and Rafa hasn’t played that slam since that happened.

No US open changed to laykold which is the same as Miami masters.
Cincinnati still plays deco-turf which suits nadals game more but the big difference is the balls which don’t take nadals spin as well that’s why he never traditionally bar 2013 did well at the event..
