It was one of the worst matches played by the Spanish player in that season.
He didn't even play 80% of his chances and still could have won the first set that would have decided the match in his favor.
I dont buy the "dinosaur fed" excuse...to me he looked like he improved his game in mid 2010's...and with it improved his H2H vs Murray and Rafa...2 players that owned him in his "prime years"Fell into that one! 7 Wimbledons, 4 title defences, 28 match winning streak and counting. This match paved the way to Djokovic placing himself amongst the absolute legends of the game on the lawn, where real tennis is played. HC goat aswell. Some other players can only dominate on one singular surface.

Definitely, I loved his fitness that shined so brightly after AO 2020 at 38 years of age. Highlight was him injuring his groin after playing a 3:28 hour match against Sandgren. Peak Federer fitness without a doubt.

The latter was. But a 26-year-old Thiem was no similarly aged Djokovic, just like a 27 year old Nick Kyrgios this year at the finals was no Djokovic/Nadal/Federer of that same age.
