Will Novak be number 2.....

Uh. Is there anything harder in tennis today ? I doubt. Beating Rafa on clay in RG semis in the best of 5, tough to expect. But the answer is YES, he'd be nr2 if somehow that happens.

I was thinking today "will Ferrer be number 4", which he would have if he'd have beaten Monfils.

You are understating that, most fan boys of his think he is already #1 and WILL dethrone both Fed and Nadal by the end of year. Only matter of time..

This is simply not true. I haven't seen anyone here claiming he is already #1. He is #3 at the moment and that is fine.

We can't read the future so let's just wait and see what is going to happen in the next couple of years.

A lot of people on this forum think he's already #2. ;)

I think that what he's shown to us thus far, he deserves his current position at the moment, but in the near future we'll see more of what his talents can take him to

I have seen lots of people claiming he's already #1 "best player this year", "real #1", "will beat Fed whenever they meet on hard" and so on. I've seen it non-stop since the AO. I agree with you though, the big factor here is how Fed and Nadal are gonna react, I don't think they're gonna fold that easily...

I have seen "best player of the year", but not the others. At least not from Novak's fans. Don't count fedtrolls with nicknames like "Dijana Djokovic" or similar.

I've seen posters saying that Djokovic will destroy Federer at the USO if they meet(I've seen people say he'll destroy him in Monte Carlo as well) and that he's the real number one and stuff like Fed is done and won't win any more slams and no it wasn't from Dijana Djokovic but from posters like kbsh,Nole Destroyer and others.

Can you imagine the mental anguish Fed will go through if he faces Djoko in the final and loses? The semifinal of Rafa/Djoko is Fed's worst nightmare on any surface.

I heard only Rafael Nadal say that. 'He is the best player this year, having a best year on the tour' .. And Ive heard him say that at least a few times. If you want to defend Nadal by preventing people from saying something he already said ...

Can you imagine the mental anguish Fed haters here will go trough if Federer somehow won the FO(or if he wins Wimbledon and USO for that matter).I would be worried for their health.

Yes, like Fed's fans' health will go down the tubes if Nadal manages to win Wimbledon!

Rafa is not Wimbledon's clear favourite after Federer in my book. There is a decent possibility he'll not reach latter rounds there. Just a feel I have from the last years final.

I doubt that cause Fed has 5 Wimbledons and will stand a good chance at USO after that while Nadal has yet to win a slam outside FO so if he loses here it will be a much bigger blow IMO especially after all those statements by Nadal fans how he's unbeatable,they should hand him the trophy,he's the best claycourter ever etc.

Fed with his year of illness ( and never walking off in the middle of a match) looks as though he is recovered and playing really well. I think he would now beat Djokovic because he is fighting and playing like the old Fed. Once more you can predict his wins. Even if he drops a set he comes back with a vengeance - I would love to see a RAfa / Fed match Nadal is also not a quitter - he had a blister the width of Vesuvious and did not stop playing - so yes these two are still the best. What we will never know is whether a fit Federer would have lost the AO

I've watched Nole play a few matches, and doesn't look that great.

He seems to squeeze out a win over some fairly mediocre competition. Plus, I think he has self-confidence issues.

Bottom line is that when he gets in a tight match with a really good (or better player like Nadal or Fed), he will lose.

Number three is right where he should be--until he raises the level of his game. He's not there yet.

This is not that far fethced. Compared to his 'prior the slam win' self, he seems to have lost a bit of the hunger and edge. Could be wrong here but I think you might be on to something. Maybe he's just setlling down and growing up.

He just doesn't need to push himself against lesser opponents. We should be seeing his hunger in the semi... Then again he might also retire :roll:

...and Nadal will eventually win Wimbledon if he stops rearranging his underwear on public. With Novak in the mix, it will be harder for Rafa to have the same run at Wimby.

Nole Destroyer is obviously some immature kid. He comes here just to troll. I was talking about regular posters. Anyway, my comment was about the deme08 statement which I felt is not quite fair and true.

It's more of the fact that he's got a ton of pressure on him right now. The kid has alot going for him right now, and luckily his draw was blown wide open so that he gets fairly easy matches up until Nadal.

He's lost his killer instinct that he had at the Australian Open. Couldn't close out Gulbis in the 3rd set for awhile. Mentally he's not there for some reason.

Nadal has made significant improvements to his HC game, which will translate to his grass game well. I don't see anyone stopping Nadal from getting to the final of Wimbledon again, even Djokovic.

I posted this earlier:

I am surprised nobody talked about this, but if for a small possibility that Nadal was to lose tomorrow to Djokovic, Nole would become the #2 player in the world. If Nadal by again a small possibility lose to Federer in the final if he gets there, Nole would be 60 points from the #2 position. I didn't calculate the relevance of the number one rankings because it's well irrelevant until Wimbledon.

Nadal/Djokovic points with the possible outcomes:

Win= 5585 / 5775
F= 5,285 / 5475
SF= 5035 / 5225

BTW,

If Roger was to lose tomorrow his point total would be 6,425.

If my calculations are wrong, I hope Moose Malloy is around to clean up my mess. :D

In all seriousnes, Roddick will be a tough tough draw for ANY player in Wimbledon this year. Whoever gets him may regret it, yea incl Fed.

Roddick may have a renewed confidence, but if he's to meet Federer in England. The only thing Federer will regret is gaining revenge from the match in Miami and also putting him back in the place where he belongs. Roddick might be hungry, but there is no dice when it comes to the class of the ATP * Federer, Nadal, Djokovic*.
