KFactor K6.1 95: what version is it?

I just traded a racquet here on TT after a long absense and got this monster. It was supposed to be a brand new KFactor K6.1 95 (16x18 ). After inspecting it I noticed the following:

* the print on one side says K 6.1 Tour
* the actual string pattern 16 X 19 (not 16 X 18 )
* the print inside the throat says:

- string pattern 16 X 19
- head size 90 sq in (although it's clearly 98 head)
- weight 320 g (11.3)
- balance 31.5 (8 pts HL)

* the warranty sticker has no serial number on it
* there is no Made in China sign anywhere on the racquet
* the grommet pieces are sticking out at the throat
* the paint finish is matte
* the black plastic buttcap has no 3-letter code, just a red trap door
* the grip is not Wilson True Grip but made of some cheap plastic

WHAT IS IT?

also the buttcap is not shiny plastic but black plastic with red square door with W on it. What is it supposed to be?

It does not look real to me. For one there does not appear to be flanges where the neck meets the head. It does not look to be a 6.1 mold racquet.

still, is there a possibility that it's real earlier Wilson Kfactor frame with some messed up PJ (just guessing).

I got it for my GF and she loves it but I feel like I was screwed. I haven't talked to the seller about it yet.

Just want to point out that it looks like a cross between a K61 Tour 90 and a K61 95....

The profile is not really round, but it's not exactly rectangular.... (90/95 hybrid?)

The Paint finishing is matt and not polished (90)

The Head size "looks" like a 95

The string pattern is 16 x 19, which is right...

Weight of 320g is the Asian K factor 90 weight...

Grip 4 1/4 is the most common fakie sized sticks (if not the only size)

The Bumper guard looks shady to me....

And the 9 oclock part of the hoop, is tooooooo thin for a k90 or k95...

Last thing, all the K95 or K90 that i've seen, the original sticker is BELOW the Designed in USA print, rather than above...

thank for pointing this out. I would know the difference although it does look similar to my K90 in every way but the size :)

The label is almost identical to this but balance is 31.5 (8 or 9 pts HL)

ok, if it is fake I never had one before. Will it play like a real one given that the string and swing weight feel just a bit lighter than K90. I would say it's just like the Asian versions of PS 90 that I traded for it.

It might play ok, but it definitely looks like you got a fakie...

Some of the tell-tale signs are there: small (asian) grip size but not marked, wrong string pattern (for the headsize), wrong butt-cap; looks to be a fakie.

Thanks to all. Whatever it is, it my first fake traded from a guy with no references on this board. I guess the first one for him will be coming soon.

where did u trade it? if u got it from the sell and trade section could we have his screen name? just to have everybody watch out and prevent other rip-offs like this one.

That's exactly what I will do as soon as I confirm his screen name and talk to the guy. I have to get to the bottom of it first.

If your GF loves it, and it's structurally sound, then you should consider dropping this. I know it's not nice being sold a pup but you have to weigh up stirring the hornet's nest vs your GF's happiness.

I agree but there are 2 issues here:

1. The trade was made based on the value of a brand new original KFactor 6.1 95 with all it's original specs (why I went for it in the first place). I traded my rare Asian PS 90 Tour for it.

2. if the guy is a fraud. He will do the same to others.

Thanks, I'm back ... to refresh my arsenal :)

My first deal was a disaster. I guess I lost my caution and this marketplace is flooded with Chinese fakes now. Thank god I'm sticking to the classic frames. Has anyone seen a fake PS 85 yet?

BTW, as a side note to this thread; beware of this model racquet on the big auction site right now, as there are a bunch for sale that are probably questionable from a seller in China. The "buy it now" prices for brand new sticks is between $99 and $155. I wouldn't touch these myself.

170226683116, 170226688165, etc? It's hard to tell if it's the same without seeing the actual picture. The one I got is around 98 head and 16x19 pattern.

I fully agree, I also have two Ksix-One 95's and your racquet does not look anything like mine. Your racquet is a square beam, more like a K90.

Surely a fake

It's like a k90 PJ over a k95? hehehe

But the grommets, specs of the string patterns are all off.

The racquet frame of a 95, string pattern of a 90, finish of a 95... la la la la la...

fake. Sorry for being too frank

Ok, what do you guys think I should do with this piece of s&*^t?

1) sell/trade it a a fake (with full disclosure),

2) keep it as a souvenir

3) other?

send it to wilson so they can inspect and possibly find out where it came from and go after the factory.

sounds like a donation :)

No, I mean the racquet is graphite and plays like a lighter beginner frame. It still has some value, right? I'm out $140 on this deal. So maybe I can reimburse a portion of it.

Oh, BTW, if anybody sees an Asian PS 90 (smooth, non-sandpaper paint, grip 4 1/2, still strung with grey Topspin Cyberflash) posted in Virginia, let us know.

I want to get in contact with these fake makers so I can get some of my PS85's painted like K90's :) I'd pay $99 a frame just for that.
