yup, i believe you are about to spin the hell out of the ball with this thing
string breaking might be an issue, but oh well
by the way, whats the length of the racquet, seems alittle short, is it just me? is the racquet at least 27"?

yeah, i agree, but unlike this one racquet, unless i heard wrong, the yonnex would not be legal for competition play
there was a picture of a player posted here where the guy was using a racquet with about the same string pattern, not a very well known player, is all i remember, but what they said was that the player had his racquet manufactured like that to create monster spin

Mark Woodforde used this racket. great find !!!!! this is one frame I would have loved to have tried. if you want to "dump it" let me know.

I'm sure that "not a very well known player" was Mark Woodforde.

You'd have to do like him and use a really thick gauge string.

I'm pretty sure it would be legal. The strings are overlapping, in a single plane, and don't have anything attached.....

ok, ok, i'll take it back
Mark Woodforde is not well known to ME!!, im bad with names anyway,

as per the ruling, someone can clarify for us,
could a yonnex with skipped grommet holes to achive the string pattern of the racquet here be legal for compettion play?
i beleive the picture i was speaking off came about when they asked if the pattern was legal, someone also mentioned about skipping grommet holes, and thats when they mentioned something about the rule and how it cannot skip holes, finally someone showed a manufactured racquet such as the one here, thus making this one legal but not the one where you skipped holes

The racquet pictured is legal--skipping holes in another racquet to achieve a similar pattern is not.

I'll measure it when it arrives on wednesday.

Anyone have any idea at what tension this puppy needs to be strung?

Its the Snauweart Hi Ten 30. Made to be strung at very high tensions (80-90 pounds). There were 3 versions. Originally shipped with a special string optimized for the higher tension. 17mm straight beam, weighs 358 grams (12.6 oz). This is my Hi Ten 30:

I strung it with a 15 gauge at 85 pounds. The spin you can generate is ridiculous. Great frame for doubles. Insane angles are easy to hit.

I bought mine for $3 at a thrift store.

Why do you have to string so tight...because of the big gaps in the string pattern?...85 is very very high...

It has to be strung tighter because of the open weave--otherwise it would feel like a fish net. I remember hitting with one of Woodforde's racquets years ago. I don't recall what he said the tension was but I know it was very high. It had a very thick string and had a very unique feel. Woodforde used this pattern in Wilson, Yonex, Snauweart racquets as well as at least one other brand I can't recall at the moment. This pattern never caught on however--I don't think I've seen another competitive player use it.

stringing high would provably not be an issue with this racquet, since you'll provably use a 15g string, 70s is a number that comes to mind, easy enough for a 15g string

What were the 3 different versions and how did they differ (I only know of the Hi-Ten 30 and 50).

I found them both on 2nd-hand sites. One in The Netherlands, the other just across the border, in Belgium.
It seems as though there are no racquet collectors in these woods, it's amazing what you can find. I've also found some real good deals on the electronic bay in Germany.

Two weeks ago a found a listing from someone who gave away 2 Puma Boris Becker Winners and all he wanted was to be reimbursed for the shipping. :D

I've just restrung the racquet and compared it with a couple of others.

Comparison between the Snauwaert Hi-Ten 30 (at 95 lbs) and the Head Graphite Radial (at 32 lbs), Below that i've added the Prince Comp 90 (at 55 lbs)

He used a 12 gauge string and a 12*14 pattern

how do you get spin if it's that open????
I guess somehow you do?
Because if not alot of string is hitting the ball then you can't spin it.
Okay i must be crazy, but I don't get it.

That probably has amazing ball feel? Let us know...

The ball feel is...different, very different - you could call it 'amazing' but not in a good way LOL. The Hi-Ten50 was my brother's old racquet (used them from about 1988 to 2005) and, due to the unusual string pattern and the exceptionally thick string used in it, he's struggled to feel comfortable with any racquet since (Dunlop Max 200G users might understand). It was stiff as a board and likely to kill a sensitive arm but, as others have said, the spin potential was unrivalled by any other legal frame. Power was okay but the control was fantastic. Only other racquet that I've found able to match the Hi-Ten50 for its combination of spin, control and power is the POGOS (the Prince has more pop, the Snauwert has more spin and control but the POGOS has more bite on slice shots).

oops sorry...totally inverted my message, i meant,

LOL...With that string pattern....if you try hard, you can hit the ball at
4000 rpm< ? haha

Yo uactually need thicker then 15 for these. The nearest equivilent you can get is weed whacker cord and works just as well, if not better in terms of play then the original 13g poly Snauwaert had for these things
