Congrats Auzzie. Keep your head up, sounds like you did great and just got a tough match in the final. I have to see this guy play if he can make you scramble.

Vitally hit it right on the head. If you could mix in a few hard flat ones on first serve - a' la JRK, you would definitely get a few more easy points.

As for my self, I won 6-0, 7-6, in the sort of Fake 3.5 singles league and I'm kind of disgusted with myself. I get off to a hot start and finish the first set in about 30 min max. Move him side to side, hit to his back hand and put away a volley or hit a groundstroke winner off his short ball.

Guy was pusher-ish. Got a lot of balls back, didn't have a weapon on the backhand side, didn't hit with a lot of pace, but got to a lot of balls. I could tell he was better than alot of the guys I played - he may have even been a real 3.5.

Next thing I knew, my swing speed dropped, I started pushing instead of punishing the ball and I'm not making a dent in his service game. Had a chance to close it out at 6-5, I served and volleyed but lost my serve. I was down 3-5 in the tie break, tied it back up and won when he hit the ball into the net at game point.

I sucked that second set. It should not have been that close.

I admit to being somewhat proud to hear from folks that you've improved since you took the clinic.

With that statement.

Skyline is hosting a Team tennis Thanksgiving Tournament Nov 29th from 12-8pm. Of course its broken up into matches much like the WTT.

I will captain a team and call it TWMAC Supesters. I need anyone who is 3.0-4.0 to answer the call.

So who is available?

Sound like fun..... Of course I have to get permission from the wife, but since shes on travel the week before and I have to watch the kiddo, I may have some leverage. Just wondering, how does scheduling work, will we have to be there the whole 8 hours?

I'll let you know. BTW- don't forget to bring your pack of BG to the next clinic.

BTW2- What are we doing with the clinic Thanksgiving week?

Here are the pictures and videos of the ACTA charity 3.5/4.0 tournament. The blonde guy with the red ncodes was the champion of the 4.0.

Enjoy! There is a lot of pic/videos.

Yeah its a fat squirrel. Auzzie's SF opponent was choking up doubles during his final game that even the crowd wanted something to cheer about. In comes.. little fat squirrel.

i liked the first couple of warmup points b/w me and the Oz-man when the Sup-squad showed up. I could hear the heckling and the pressure was on.
I had some decent serves, we hit some hard shots, auzzie got a short ball and hit a nice approach shot which I got to and tried to hit a running forehand that I crushed but it went straight to him and he knocked off the volley like it was a fly and he was Mr. Miagi.
there were some other video moments for me, (any point i win against Auz is worth capturing imo! even some points i lose but drag out!)
but the Sup camera only films me when I am framing a ball into the S&H ceiling or stumbling over my own feet to return serve. But I am thankful (thanks SUP) for the videos I have seen... it has really helped me to see what I do wrong to work on some things.

Auz, yah the tall guy routinely foot faulted, but not by a huge amount... but he was tall enough that any infraction is unnecessary and egregious!

Mr&Mrs Auz looked stunned when I told them how old I am...

Eden Center was PACKED!!! what a parking nightmare!
That dog was cute... i tried to warn Sup not to get the meatballs!!!!!!!!

Hey wizard of Oz, i think this racquet is THE ONE 4 U:

Supestar, Thanks for all the videos! I wish I could have provided some better rallies. I played one guy who tried to serve/foot fault me off the court, and the other who actually hit me off the court. It's eating me up; I need to get bulk up my serve among other things.

I have never been to Eden Center until yesterday, and I was shocked at that parking lot. I definitely was not in the mood for that hectic lot in between matches, but the food made up for it.

I will look into that fischer a little more. In losing yesterday, I felt my whole game was coming up short. I definitely want to beef up my serve with more spin and power. I want to get my groundies deeper and with more spin- especially when hitting against someone who keeps every ball consistently deep, powerful, and accurate like my finals opponent. So I want a controlled frame, decent weight, high spin capabilities, and can help me bang some first serves in. Immediately when I think about bigger serves, I think about the PD(R). But I have played with that before, and felt it had a little too much power. I started looking at the Head Microgel Extreme Pro- 11.8 oz/ 335 g, 7 pts headlight, 100 sq. in., high spin capabilities (from reviews). It seems like it may have a touch more control than the PDR. Maybe I will like it on serve- and it is only $100 right now. (and its yellow). Has anyone tried it?

yeah i thought WTT style is:

1 mens singles. 1 womens singles. 1 mens doubles. 1 womens doubles. 1 mixed doubles.

slightly different for this thanksgiving janks?

oh and thanks for stringing my stick. just in time for me to get rid of em. i still think they are causing me pain. let me know what i owe you or the conversion from dollars to beer.

Im waiting for TheJRK to agree to wear the skirt. Alas, thats what they said, I just copied the email. Looks like its changed a bit. Finding out about any womens doubles session. Still a mixed session is good.

Can you give JRS a check or money for the string job since I'll see him Thur. $23 should cover it.

lol. no they suck. they both suck and blow. actually i don't know for sure if it's the racquet. but i can't help but think it's the reason. i have never had elbow problems. i sell my tecnifibres. i buy these new dunlops. my elbow hurts. it'd be one thing if i learned some new stroke or something - i'm an old dog so no new tricks. it has to be the racquet.

oh and i think i read a review somewhere about my sticks. it does everything mediocre to good. it does absolutely nothing well. meh. time to move on. vitaly - gimme your sticks. JRK gimme your sticks. sappy gimme your -- wait. sell your sticks and then gimme the money so i can buy new sticks.

somebody should gimme TWMAC special price of $225 for the YY racquets and bag. they are spotless. They are very plush, comfortable frames.
Of course I slapped Alu Flouro in their which takes away some of that comfort, but I am still shocked that I can't give these things away. If I wasn't so picky/crazy, I would totally use these racquets. I still hit the best serve of my life (when not even trying) when I used the YYRQIST1L for the first time. I hit a 10ft high kicker down the middle that had me running to TW to place an order! I haven't touched them since I switched to the Prestige because 1) i am playing decently with the Prestige and 2) i don't want to hit another awesome shot and then be thinking about switching back.
so PLEASE somebody give me a decent price for them and they are yours!

but demo from TW - i gotta keep these things lookin fresh for the eventual buyers!!! ;)

no way auz goes from 45ra Donnay to 70ra Head racquet...
auz if you demo any frames, see if you can add a 1/2 MG Prestige MP to the order. i still think that Fischer jankz is more your style.

auz, when you played that guy in the finals, your game kind of changed from the consistent, fast, spinny ball high over the net to the low flat ball into the tape. Since my game looks like the latter, it was interesting to watch you hit like that. I think you weren't getting as much depth on your spinny shots and the guy was teeing off on them and put you more on the defensive and then you went for "more" on your shots.

your topspin bounces high enough that most of your opponents are forced to stay back on the baseline even if your ball bounces on the service line. but that guy seemed to like attacking those short balls and would move in and pound them even if it was up around his shoulder. i think your topspin with more depth would be the key to beating that guy.

keep your game and your preference for flexible sticks.. that part of your game is awesome and what makes you the Auz-meister. but your serve, (which i would KILL for as a 2nd serve) just needs to flatten out occasionally and it would add an entire dimension of difficulty to your game.
(of course, against me you can continue kicking it softly to my backhand, watch me stumble and hit it out every time though!)

ok, i have to stop my coaching and get on my flight back to Bolletieri's now!:)

I appreciate the pointers really- feel free to keep them coming. I just want to try the stiffer head, see if it does what I am hoping it may do for my game.

The topspin is something that I need a little more time to set up for, and it works if my opponent doesn't feel comfortable hitting on the rise. But yesterday, I had very little time, and he loved hitting on the rise. But also with the Donnay, you can see it in some of those videos with my semifinal line stepper. I was taking much bigger swings at the ball, and he was just kind of taking half swings. Not to say I want his groundstrokes, but I do think it may be beneficial in situations like yesterday's for my racquet to give me a little more help. I have to take a full swing on most shots with the Donnay, and I may not always have the luxury of doing so- especially against really good players. We will see how tomorrow goes, maybe I will like the Head, maybe not.

Either you are joking or you dont give yourself enough credit. Now I havent hit with you a ton but from what i have seen of you and the other 3.5s in Anne Arundel county. You could easily be at 3.5 level. But maybe you are not match tough yet and to find out how to win more. I am at the point where I win over most of the 3.5 I played becasue those guys arent used to the inconsistent power of my shots. but somehow I manged to only lose 2 matches all year to those guys.

But at 4.0 those guys would eat my crap up and I may win a few everyonce in a while.

From what I have seen the biggest differnce from 3.0's and 3.5's is the 3.5's just get more back.

So match wise maybe you are 3.0 but from what I have seen you should be 3.5 with ease.
