He's not going to contend for a title because his lost too Mayweather. Getting smoked by Mayweather (he didn't get "smoked" but he let himself down) isn't a reason for not contending for belts. He plans on leaving the sport soon. This maybe his last fight. Who ever wins this should probably get the Ricky Hatton (win over Paulie a few weekends ago). But that fight is not worth it IMO.Boxing is dead... I used to be a huge fan of the sweet science but now I've found MMA / UFC. What does De La Hoya prove tonight if he wins? Not like he's going to contend for a title anymore since he got smoked by Mayweather last year... Oscar's time is over.
Golden Boy got his arse kicked by somebody last time he fought. PacMan is going to destroy him. Also during the official weigh-in (?) Oscar looked liked his ribs were caged in, like a chucnk of his abs were missing, while Pacman looked like pure muscle ready to pound on De la Hoya.
Rest assured we will not get another JC vs RJJ. I can tell you that. But if Oscar fights his fight it will be boring. He will stay on the outside and use his jab and "box". Hopefully Manny will keep coming in and make it very exciting.he just beat steve forbes so no he didnt get his ass kicked last fight. he lost to mayweather and hopkins. mayweather he lost he had no bussines trying to fight someone as big as hopkins.
its a great matchup as u got a guy trying to really make his name outside the boxing world and someone who is trying to prove he is still great. this normally makes for a good fight but i hope we dont get a rjj vs calzaghe again.
Manny for the win. I think he will figure out (to put it simply) to neutralize the height of Oscar. Oscar also has the tendency to chock in big fights. Will be rooting for Manny. I love him and Freddie. All the best to them tomorrow night. I Hope I will be able to get a feed online like I did for RJJ vs JC
Manny by Split Decision.
Was just about to make a Topic when I saw this, lol. Would be nice if you had a poll, btw
Well we had a few good fights this year. Marquez-Vazquez, Cotto-Margurito, but thats about it. Some big fights coming in 2009. You have Shane Mosely vs Antonio Margurito, Jorge Acre vs Vic Darchinyan (really excited about this one right here). Maybe even a rematch of Cotto-MarguritoYeah, was exhibition stuff really. Similar to Hatton and Calzaghe in the other big fights recently.
Let's hope for some real classics in 2009!
And not to forget congrats on Enzo and Amir on bouncing back with wins back in England
Aw forgot about Froch. Saw him once fight on Showtime here in the US. Would like to see him again. He is pretty promising.Yeah, Froch had an amazing fight aswell this evening. He looks like someone who can hopefully step into Calzaghe's shoes.
Floyd by far. Money talks but I don't see Mayweather coming out to be honest. Ricky will get pummeled against Manny. Manny is just superior and Ricky will just come at him and get destroyed, I can picture it now, Ricky getting KO by a left hook while trying to come in unprotectedFloyd/Manny or Hatton/Pacquiao?
Pick em?

Btw, Fena did you catch any of Hatton's commentating? Was he any good? Did he say anything interesting? They showed a quick shot of him with the headset on and talking on HBO PPV.
Same here I found an HBO feed. I like David Haye a lot. He is cocky as anything but he is a powerful puncher and real fit guy. He is much more promising then are best thing here in the heavyweight division Chris Arreola. David and Chris are both calling the Klitchsko brothers. I think it would a good for David to actually fight Chris. I think he can beat him (rather easily to be honest). Beating a heavyweight (and I mean heavy) prospect like Chris Arreola, will just build up his confidence. But regardless he needs some more fights at heavyweight. Good start with Montel Barret, but he showed some weaknesses.I'm not sure! It was around $25 on Sky Box Office so I found a stream showing the HBO broadcast, i'm cheap like that
Froch is very promising yeah, David Haye looks like he could cause some damage at heavyweight aswell so things are looking quite good over here at the moment.
Hatton is the logical next opponent. I also would love to see Mayweather fight Pacquiao. Floyd says he wants to stay retired, but he "money" is his nicknameAHAHAHAHHA PACQUIAO!
Anyway, Hatton was watching the fight live, so I bet he's Manny's next opponent. I do want to see Mayweather/Pacquiao though.

I would also love to see Mayweather fights Pacman....Come on...just put s**tload of cash in front of Floyd and he will come back.
It was a lose lose for De la Hoya, if he won he would have won against a smaller man who belongs at lightweight on down. But if he lost (which he did) it spells the end of Oscar's career. He even told Freddie that he didn't have it anymore and that freddie was right. He has the habit of effing up the big ones and he did that last night. As I stated before... what did De La Hoya prove by getting his *** handed to him last night. Even if he would have found a way to stick it out and win a descision it wouldn't have meant anything. I hope that was the end for the Golden Boy - at least in terms of the fight game.
Pacman in the 8th round!
-nice call-
Yeah man nice callI should be in the clairvoyance business!
