I could actually do the clinic on Thursday! If there is still space available.

It was a sad day at Ida Lee. I was having trouble with my timing period, but it was the first day that I didn't like playing with the MComp :(, and McLovin even strung it up with CyberBlue :( :(. I hope Monica Seles's specs are perfect for me.

JRK... those shoes are too pretty to double fault in!!!!
(don't ACE me, bro!) <--- my new t-shirt motto. COPYRIGHT 2009 vitaly!

The only reason I double fault is to give my opponents some glimmer of hope during my service game. I don't want to bully them off the court. ;-)

I was thinking of a women's tennis clothing line... I would call it "Fine Piece of Ace".

p.s. WTF?!?! My boxing coach decided he's moving to South Carolina!

In its defense, you played like poo-poo with pretty much all the rackets you grabbed, with the exception of when you hit screaming winners w/ the Ti-5.

Good to get out this morning, though. Thanks to JR for setting it up. I kinda liked those courts, although I still prefer direct lighting vs. indirect.

raiden, prestigeprolover, nitefly, hollywood -- email or call me. i can hit saturday. i figure doubles at owen brown would be nice. not sure if i can make the trek out to nitefly's neck of the woods though.

uhhh i would hit with you but i'm only a 3.0 man. seriously. i'm up for hitting outdoors anytime if you are willing to though.

if we could get some doubles going, it would hide some of my weaknesses. :)

We can wait to see if we can get 4 together for doubles (indoors or outdoors), but I have a feeling thats not going to happen.

If nothing comes about, then we'll just hit outside. I'm not worried about your rating, since I'm not looking for serious match play but just some casual hitting. Then we can play it by ear whether we play any sets or not. If this is what we end up doing, unless you have any other courts in mind, I would say Vantage Rd. at around 1pm.

I don't know if OB will work because of their guest policy. Would you play outside?

prestigeprolover and i hit there last week. i'm not a columbia resident. they didn't card me. just asked for my phone number.

if it's below 40 -- nope. especially if it's below 40 and windy. my threshold is 55 degrees and no wind. even with my layer of old man fat i can't do it.

Consider yourself lucky. What happens if you show up and they ask for your ID and then either 1) deny entrance because you're not a resident or 2) ask for a $16 guest fee? Although its possible they have no available courts so its all moot anyways.

Sup/Topaz - How much does Skyline cost to be a member (for tennis). Could I possibly get the Filipino hook-up/discount from Carol?

Just wondering since my wife mentioned she wants to join a gym when she gets back (we cancelled our Bally's membership).

raiden -- fine fine. if you can book court time at either fairland or circle d -- count me in.

i'd prefer a flight to say hawaii and then we can play outside but beggars can't be choosers.

^^ tfm, i'm going. i need all the hitting i can squeeze in. my league matches start in a week.

i'll bring my raquet. i'll try to get there earlier cause of what raiden said about members calling beforehand.

raiden, nitefly, hollywood - anyone else down for circle d tonight?

Don't know...the only time I was a member, it was a comp membership set up by the old director in return for running singles flights. They decided, after they found he was putting people on my membership that I didn't know, that they weren't going to do that anymore. :(

Check with Vitaly...both him and Ms. Vitaly are members, and if you guys join, use them as references...I think that helps them out a bit.

They usually offer really good deals during the summer months if you guys want to wait that long. Or, you could just sit down with the membership rep and hammer out a deal, too. Carol usually knows about any kind of a deal that is going on, so you could check with her (or maybe Sup could) about any deals going on right now. I would like to eventually join, too, but I'm not paying an arm and a leg for it! It is a nice place...there's a pool, indoor track, lots of studios for classes...oh, and a couple of tennis courts, too! :)

Your boxing coach moved? Does that mean we'll still see you on Thursday nights?

No prob. It was good to go out and hit. Two weeks without tennis is just too much.

I'm not helping him out.

Yeah, I know the Arlington Racquet Club fee is pretty steep initially, but after that, court fees are pretty cheap. 15 dollars (split between 2 people) an hour during the winter, and free during the non-winter. But there is no gym there, just tennis courts.

I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do now. I'm like Rocky after Micky died...

pictures are bad. Unless it the HR Striker standing in front of everyone so he looks huge pics, at which point pictures are good.

TFM lemme know if you want me to bring one of my sticks.

I would recomend this one

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Reviews/RD50/RD50Review.html

But my Pro No.1 XL is mighty fina as well. Its the red and silver stick from around 2002 I think. Kafelnikov had the the PJ of it. Lemme know dude cuz I ill throw some sttring in em.

Isn't the RD 50 reaaallly flexy?

Yes. I went to that briefly from the RD Power 10 Long. I thought it was great the first few times I hit with it, then, after I bought a few, noticed my mistake. It took about 3 months, but eventually I sold them & went back to my Power 10 Longs for another year or so.

McLovin I got an RD power 10 long super mid :)

And yes I think the 50's are 58 flex. the fischer is prolly 64ish. But I cant find specs on it. I like the RD50 better, but TFM may favor the stiffer frame and the open pattern

hollywood, PPL, raiden -- please bring any extra sticks you have. i'm still racquetless.

hit last night with PPL's prestige pros. good sticks. still a bit heavy for doubles. but i never hit a harder groundie than with the prestige pro. also hit with some guy's RDS 001 MP. these yonnies are good. actually wouldn't mind switching to these. the paintjob is still incredibly jarring. i figure an asian guy playing tennis with a neon racquet is just way too much yellow. has to be against some law. too bad though cuz the sticks play like a slightly more powerful RDX 500 MP.

I liked those frames too. I would probably add a little lead, but off the ground and at net they are a pleasure. I didn't like serving with them though, I guess that's not saying much with my serve...

Has anyone tried the Becker 11 98's? or the HPS 6.1 18x20? I tried the HPS 6.1 16 main version in the past, so not sure how similarly the two versions hit. Just curious :)

I've hit with the Becker 11 before, I think Hollywood had them as a demo during the last MAC meet at my condo. I don't remember much about it which means it probably wasn't anything too fantastic. I do remember that I didn't like the shape of the head though, it was like an egg... fatter at the bottom and thinner at the top... reminded me of a badminton racket.

You need to demo that Fischer M Speed Pro Number 1, you might like it.

FOR AUZZIE: darn it oz... even the notoriously indecisive Evchenkov has settled on a racquet. you should demo 4 sticks from TW and have a buddy demo 4 more sticks at the same time. try them out for 2-3 days.... and PICK ONE!
you are a fantastic player that uses your speed and tenacity more than anything a racquet can supply. you can use any racquet from a Head S5 to Yonex SRD Tour 90. So just find a good racquet (Prince Graphite Longbody???, Head Instinct???, Wilson KBlade Team???:) ) and then just agonize about lead tape and string choice! (ok, off my high horse)

RANT: i am kicking myself for picking a racquet brand that never seems to go on clearance. now that Hewitt and Ivanovic have switched frames, i should be able to pick these things up for 99bucks... krapz.

PLAY UPDATE:
i played a 5.0 player and had my chances to beat him yesterday. i was crushing aces that were firing off my racquet so hard that they hit the fence before he even took a step. and i set up some amazing points by SLICING returns and slicing short to his backhand and coming to net where he gifted me a ball right at me for an easy overhead putaway that I FRAMED. AAARGGH!!!! But even though I lost, I was VERY HAPPY that I held serve several times after 0-30 deficits. I broke him a couple times too, but I just have to focus a LOT more on the next game so I can keep that lead.

was that meant in a "raised voice" tone?? :) I have no problems picking a racquet, sticking with them is a different story...

Did you play outside again?? Anyone want to hit a little outside today before, maybe in an hour?

Watching tennis academy with Robert Lansdorf (SP???) on Tennis Chan. That dude is a bit scary. Dude is still rocking a stolen shopping cart full of balls with a piece of plywood strapped to the front. He may be a tennis genius, but if you didn't know who he was and you met him on the court, he'd probably remind you of some crazy tennis dude. You would take the court furthest away from him….. LOL!

Face it Auzzie, you'll never settle. Just ask Tennis Warehouse if they are willing to give you a break on Demo fees if you pre-pay for the year. ;)
