Most Intense Tennis Camps for Adults?

So what are the best tennis camps for adults? Not interested in the juniors, so please comment on the adult programs only. I'm a 4.5 tournament player looking to get to the next level, so not looking to waste my time in the typical pro + 4 people on the court stuff. Seeking personal attention, videotape analysis, serious drills, the works.

Heard Nick B is way overrated, especially for adults, and maybe Saddlebrook as well. Heard Sanchez-Casal or Extreme Tennis might be better ideas. What do you guys say? Thank you.

I've been to a number of camps. Some great, some not so much. But, I gotta say, ALL the ones I've been to are geared toward the 3.0 - 4.0 player. They all had group lessons/clinics/drills as the heart of their program, with the occasional private lesson thrown in. Now, you may get lucky and be the only one in camp sometime. That happened to me once - it was great. But, that was the exception. I've been in camps that had 4.5 level players in attendance. A 4.5 isn't going to learn as much as a 3.5 - but they DO seem to get some good out of the camps. If nothing else, just hitting thousands of balls will help you fine-tune your shots.

If you can find the exact camp you're looking for, great. If not and you're willing to "settle", pay attention to the pro/student ratio. About the best you'll find is 1/4. Some are 1/6 or 1/8, so watch out. Also pay attention to the number of hours of instruction per day, and if you get free court time after that. And, if you've got a 4.5 buddy that can go with you, the two of you can drill afterwards.

I hear ya for sure...not some typical adult camp. Your level is tough to accommodate...not too many of you out there. I travel with a team at my level and do it at a spot in Barcelona and another one in Mallorca - Global tennis..work with one of Rafa's & Moya's coaches there. Not to dork out but many times I'm in tears at the end of a session cause I'm so rejuvenated and hearing things on court I've never heard before. I love how the spanish coaches work more with the body. Footwork & conditioning, mental, super important there. USA likes good looking strokes. I like that also but at my level I'm past that...I need to keep my head straight on court - think smart, and finish a point in my favor. I'm a teaching pro (blah blah blah) but I require REAL coaches...like yourself. Not recreational coaches. Good luck and if you need more info...let me know!

Some European camps are intense.

Yep...much more so than USA. But sorry to say, Sanchez is a marketing machine like Nicky B's. I visited - sat on the sidelines all day...never met the director, Svetlana was on court working with a hitting partner...but that's about it. Lotta tour players hang there for free hitting partners, free court time, etc. I soooo wanted to be impressed and the facilities are impressive. But the tennis...not so much.

Saddlebrook and Newks

My 4.5 friend went to Saddlebrook to knock off the dust and returned with a big grin and lots of blisters. On that little knowledge, I would recommend it.

I go to Newks every winter and the during the week crowd is quite low. Let them know you are coming or ask when there is a group at your level. If you just go with the flow, you will be thrown in with the 3.0 - 4.0 crowd. Let them know you want some serious tennis and they will accommodate. They were sufficiently good to train Ryan Harrison and his brother so think they have the capability for you, you just need to get them to action.

I too would like to give Spain a try and would enjoy feedback.

I am below you BTW. A 4.0 on bad days and 4.5 on good days.
