mooching?! ppl are always happy to let me play with their sticks. although they likely don't like the fuzz between the strings and my sweaty hands moisturizing their grips though. :(

thought just occurred to me -- if Schmad borrows someone's racquet -- will they have to readjust their strings at all? figure you kinda need some spin or the strings won't move.

sappy you should give up this thing called "lunch" for lent.

HA HA HA, Mr.-Father-of-two.

I've always wondered how your back holds up with that sword-dodging kick serve. It's impressive. See, I always compliment you, unlike you who makes fun of Shcmad.

Schmad - if they bust at you, you gotta bust back!!!

JRS is not a happy camper right now.

Had mixed, but I should have stayed home.

1. Because Tennisone is a steaming pile of poop on top of a cluster..... I ended driving for 20 mins to Fairfax Racket Club instead of (drum roll) Worldgate which is 5 min from my house. Drove like a mad man back to Worldgate.

2. Got there late, but so did our opponent's partner (she went to 4 seasons) so we played. Lost 6-4, 6-4.

3. Got home. No extra parking so I had to move the other car so the wife doesn't wake me at 4am to move mine. What music was bumping from the Bose system with a sub woofer? Dre. ? No. Tribe? No. Bob Marley? No. The Roots? NO!!!! It was Raffi. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtU2cF_yGU4) a fitting end to a crappy night.

JRS...I think you just need to know what to look at in TennisOne.

When you register a team, you are forced to say where your 'home' club is...JJ chose FRC for us, but that doesn't mean we always play our matches there. When you get your confirmation emails, what you want to look for where/when she lists to meet...

Or, you can log in, and look up the schedule which has the locations...you were lucky though, that your opponent was late as well, and it sounds like you guys still had a good match. You can always call JJ to double check, too.

You may think it is a steaming pile of poop, but TennisOne really helps out captains tremendously.

I managed a soccer team for several years and I've seen web sites that are much better at clearly representing the game info that players need to know.

Let's break this down - the most important pieces of info should be at the top.

Team: NetForce One
Date of Match: Feb 25, 09
Time of Match: 9:00 PM
Location: This match will be played against Serve-ivors.
Address: 9860 Lee Highway
Fairfax, VA (<---This is the address of our 'home' club, not necessarily where the match is.)

Click here for directions to this facility from our club.

We have team name, date and time of match, then a location that isn't the location of the match?

Then a link to directions/map to where the match is not?

Really bad design to put one of the most important pieces of info (where to show up) all the way at the bottom of the e-mail/reminder, while including information that isn't helpful at the top.

The home club feature isn't useful if you don't have a home club. Have any of the captains sent this feedback to tennisone?

Yes, now I know I have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the e-mail to get the location, but this is a flaw with the site that should be fixed as well as the "locations" on the tennisone site under Match schedule and line up - which includes the opposing team name as some of the locations (team america, Wii Conquered, etc).

couple of thoughts:

tennisone isn't a steaming pile of poo. it's not quite terrible, it's just unintuitive and difficult to navigate. i'd liken it more to a day old pile of poo. it's not hot enough to be steaming.

schmad does get a lot of grief for his spin or lack thereof but we also kinda gloss over the fact that pound for pound he hits his forehand harder than anyone in the twmac. (see i don't rag on you alll the time my korean brother from another mother)

JRS, the location is the location of our 'club'. Again, TennisOne *forces* you to put in something there when you register a team.

Scroll to the bottom for the time/place of the match.

That's all I'm saying here...trying to help, not here to argue.

TennisOne is also used by captains and tennis teams from all over the country. Our area is a bit unique in that our USTA teams are *not* based out of a club. Just because we don't use that feature doesn't mean it isn't needed and used by others. That 'flaw' is more a result of how our area runs USTA leagues than it is a TennisOne gaff.

Trust me, if you ever captained a tennis team yourself (where locations and times are all over the place), you'd see how much work it saves the captain. The team members need to be responsible on their part to read the entire emails and know how to log in and access any information they may need. Captains have lives, families, jobs, etc as well, and don't necessarily want or need to spend all their time sending a bunch of emails and reminders. The great thing about TennisOne is that, once you put in your team's schedule, all a captain has to do is create the line-ups and check confirmations. All the emails and reminder emails are automatically generated by TennisOne.

That being said, just about everyone messes up a match location or time at one point or another. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

You don't have to be a captain to send an email to TennisOne with suggestions...go for it. They've been very responsive over the years and have already listened and made many changes based on feedback.

Ughhh, warmest day in weeks and I'm home sick. It's weird, I felt fine yesterday and then I get home and this $hitty feeling just sweeps over me.

Thank goodness my wife is a nurse and hooked me up with the good drugs, hopefully I'll be better by tomorrow. I guess there is nothing left for me to do besides play Street Fighter IV all day.

On a side note, please respond to the e-vite I sent out since I need to know who is coming. My condo requires a list of all guests when throwing a party, I guess this is so they don't shoot you if you randomly show up.

Also, where is DVI, I would like to invite him and his babushka to the party as well. :)

I understand these concepts. I understand you like the site. I don't.

Still, tennisone has some flaws - as I pointed out earlier. There's no reason why the system can't accommodate teams with and without clubs - it's not "clubone", it's tennisone. There's no reason why a match location should be incorrect in the schedule on the web site (Team America for a location? where's that??)

I haven't captained a tennis team, but I have captained other teams and I've seen better systems. As a former captain I know the importance of clear communication (Trying to get 15+ adults to show up in the same place at the same time for a soccer match is like herding cats) and as I pointed out, the tennisone system adds a layer of confusion for team members - not good.

My e-mail was not an attack on captains. As a former captain/team manager, I know it's a lot of time and work.... and harassing, and reminders and e-mails and thankless work (welcome to the life of a captain.)

But as a player, I'm pretty busy too (life, job, kid, school, etc.) I'm also a pretty responsible team member - I do my best to show up and time and keep the capt. up to date on my availability, etc. But this system is not working for me. That's all.

Thanks Sappy.

Besides the withdrawal symptoms, I worry that for the last year of "retirement" (aka 3 beers min. a day)... I've been living in a fog.

In one day with no beers, my thoughts and vision are already clearing up. So this not drinking may have adverse effects:

Sup, I cannot give up lead tape, ever since I started leading my clothing on a daily basis. It would mess up my daily life at this point. Also I can't start my day without my daily leaded wheaties.
Secondly, giving up Mayo is dangerous, we all know that if white peoples Blood Mayo Content drops below a certain level it triggers a drastic increase in melanin production.

I believe the refugees, if american citizens or direct blood relatives can be claimed as dependents. As long as they are not delcared as dependents.

all the clinics do lately is pizz me off.
i am early on my backhand and late on my forehand.
forehand was better at the end if i go to Xtreme to the Maxx western grip, but still i couldn't hit a 3 ball rally to save my life.
i almost left at one point, but it would have left magma all by himself... and each turn i would have just enough time to cool down enough to try again, only to be even angrier after sucking some more.
but i could feel myself about to have a total meltdown and it isn't pretty. my strings sucked, my form sucked, that friggin heater thing sucks...
i really think some zen time with a ball machine is what i need. it was pretty nice when i did it in FLA, and it was same type of machine.
i also need a shrink or else i am going to hurt myself or an innocent tennis player badly. can't believe i threw my racquets twice out there.
if anybody wants my clinic spot, i would give it up gladly.
thanks for putting up with crazy ukranian. i agree with you, DVI is nutters.

Sorry you feel that way about the clinics. We try to make it tough, but not enough to make you that angry.

Let me know when next week you want to use the ball machine. I'll see if court 1 or court 4 can be used next week for the clinic. It's a little better in terms of noise.

Let me know if someone buys your time.

I'll check for availability'

someone can definitely take my spot, but selling the time will be harder than selling YY RQis T1L, me thinks. so i guess i will have to stop whining and try again next week.
(i wish Xis could play so i could just give them back to my homie)

if not, by next week i will probably not be quite so beetchy and will play fine in the clinic. just a bad day at the office i guess.
i guess it is my penance for eating my face off in FLA. i ate osso bucco, weiner schnitzle, veal piccata, seared tuna, filet mignon, giant omelet, waffles, hash browns, corned beef hash, oh and some fruit... DANG BUFFETS!!!

and since i couldn't find a decent tennis player while i was down there, it was hard to work all that food off. so i just sat in a hot tub and watched people play golf.

p.s. for topper, i saw the NY philharmonic too... makes me want to play the cello.... probably a more expensive and frustrating hobby!

sup, maybe i could use the "playmate" and then we grab lunch sometime... i know a sandwhich place in D.C. that is getting rave reviews!

p.s.s. - i somehow found a bunch of Nike sleeveless shirts for $12 online with free shipping. it is from a krappE store, but if it actually shows up, it is a pretty sweet price. check your GOLF retailers if you want some 2007 items and coupon codes get you free shipping on any amount. OOPS, i think i broke my lenten promise!

I'll reserve the court if you give me the okay. 1 hour with the playmate is like 4 hours with Sappy at the bar... you'll be tired, you back will hurt and you'll think twice about doing it again. He's a large load to carry.
