Head Prestige MP and Volkl PB10

Used to use 11oz-ish sticks but looking for a heavier racquet to get more stability and plough effects..... Unfortunately there's no demo in my country so just trying to get some ideas from here....

Anyone hit with both Head Prestige MP and Volkl PB10 and can give some comments on how they compare in different area of games??

I don't have experience with the PB10 but I can tell the Prestige MP was a very comfortable hit. There was ample stability for volleys. Nice weight behind ground strokes, although for extra plow through, I would add 5-6 grams of the lead on 3&9 on the hoop. Overall it is a solid mid 11oz racquet.

I couldn't hit anything with the Prestige MP, but the Prestige Pro is pretty sweet!

I also haven't hit with the PB10, but the C10 Pro is pretty sweet!

I'm not sure that helps, but there ya go.

I would go with the Volkl. With Yonex and maybe Fisher they have the best frames on the market.
I had MG Prestige MP. The hit was very good, but seems that the racket passes some vibrations to the hand. I understood that, not while hitting, but because after every hitting session i had problems in the upper arm. I heard other people have the same problems.

I agree with the comments on the MG Prestige MP. It lacks the same solid feel and plough through that the Volkl or Becker 11 series frames have. I suspect adding lead would help, but the frame's stiffness is still an issue for me. I prefer a little more flex with the weight ~12 oz.

eventhough the stiffness that TW gives for MG P MP is about 63 seems like the frame gives you in a strange way vibrations.

I went back to my RDS 001 MP that has a stiffness of 68 and my hand is not more in pain!

Both racquets with the same leather grip, overgrip, type of string and tension.

Agree. There is something about the vibrations that make this frame feel stiffer than it's rated. I have a k90 that plays considerably softer than the MG series.

I have not played the MG prestige MP yet, but I suggest as a possibility the fact that the closed string pattern might be to blame for some people's impression of the stiffness of that racket when compared to open pattern rackets (like RDS MP or K90).
I have found that 18x20 95'' rackets tend to feel stiffer than their more open pattern "colleagues" as a rule, despite their official flex rating. You might want to drop about 2 kg string tension when playing with 18x20 rackets when compared to 16x19 rackets with similar head size.
The Yonex RDS MP is a 98 with a 16x19, so when strung at the same tension with the MG Prestige MP (which is a "real" 95'' in my book), it will probably "feel" more forgiving than the Prestige. But string the prestige 2-3 kg lower (with the same string ...) and compare again, and you might be surprized.
Just a thought...

thanks for all the comments..

about the vibration issues of prestige, can it be resolved using softer strings or lower tensions? any help with a dampener?

Od1n,
MG felt softer to me, but the result was a pain in my hand, something that i can't feel with RDS MP .

I had 2 MG P MP.
1 strung with VS - Hurrican Hybrid @ 24 Kg (very soft hybrid) and
1 strung with BB Original @ 17 Kg

Both of them were giving me the same result.

...aaand you are right about the pattern issue and the fact that MG felt more like 95''.
I thought that this was in my hand because of the RDS that feels more like 100''

head mg prestige mp is a great stick -

I haven't hit with the MG Prestige MP enough to form an opinion, but the mid is pretty sweet. I was immediately impressed with the feeling of control I got with the PB10. I've been using it for about five months now, and I'm still completely satisfied. It's very solid and stable from all points on the court. You definitely have to have a full swing to use it, though. If you have a shorter swing, you could have trouble creating pace. It has some flex in the throat, which I find improves control but reduces the power level. It feels crisp. As mentioned in the TW review, the PB10 isn't a serve monster, but that's not an issue if you already have a good serve. Besides, the control it allows on serve is very good. The PB10 did much better than the MGPMP in the TW reviews.

Another thing to consider is the grip shape....maybe you just don't "agree" with the Head grip shape, and this causes you to be uncomfortable enough to cause pain in the long term.
