I also went Wimby for the prestiege, which is also one of the reasons I don't go there.

Wimbeldon is the most prestigous but the USO is my fav. I could care less about AO and RG. Crappy time to watch tennis IMO. I like it when the season really picks up around Wimbeldon time in the summer and all the way to the fall.
Wimbledon may be seen as the most prestigious, but for me it's RG.
It's tennis on it's original surface (i think!?), its' where the rallys are the longuest, it's where its the most spectacular, where you have to have all the shots, where variety is essential, where the 5 setters are the hardest to get, where you have to be the fittest, the most endurance, the most error free game.

Nope, Grass is the original surface. Lawn Tennis is the name of the game.
I guess if you consider prestigious to be the same as historically significant, wimbledon's going to get the vote, but something I've noticed about the open over the last couple years is how physically demanding it is and thus difficult to win: it's at the end of a long, rigorous season, and it's on hards (hard on the body), they play LATE matches before a sometimes tough crowd, and it tends to be windy at Flushing. If by prestigious we meant most difficult to win, I might vote for the open.

I dunno, man, the Australian constantly delivers amazing matches. The other majors can be a little hit or miss some years.
I voted for Wimbledon since we're talking about prestige.

Yea the AO as of lately is seeming to be the fun slam...exception of the heat.
But another vote for wimby...man it is really close 43-8-2-1....combined they are not even a third.

Wimbledon is the very first lawn tennis tournament ever held. It will always be the most prestigious.
US Open/Roland Garros are pretty much tied IMO. To me, US Open may be slightly ahead due to the number of one slam wonders that RG has produced.
AO will probably always be last but that tournament is impressing me more every year. Lots of epic matches.

yeah no doubt it's wimbledon...
it's my favorite tournament of the year. Only tournament i get up early or stay up late to watch.
US open is probably next .. not sure why but i strongly believe it is
maybe because it's the last slam of the year and you have to have the energy/stamia from the grind of the season as a whole
then it would be the FO then AO
roddick and chang are both one slam winners and similar in careers in my opinion. Roddick will probably get the edge over chang because he won the US open and chang the french.. granted chang beat lendl and edberg but still ..

Chang never passed #2, Roddick was ranked #1. Also Roddick has more overall titles than Chang, so I don't think the Grand Slam logic has much to do with it.
I would rank FO above USO only because USO is "unique" but FO is so elusive to some of the players that could have had Grand Slams. That makes it the most sought-after for potential greats, and I think that in and of itself raises the importance of the event. Although USO as a venue (and AO) is much more exciting/full of energy, I don't see that as equal to prestige.

All professional tournaments have a dress code. Wimbledon is the only major that requires white clothing.

Of course I would. I don't claim that AO is the most prestigious slam now, after Djokovic won it.
Fed fanboys on the other hand are doing exactly that since Federer won 5 USOs and 0 FOs.
What is clear is that Wimbledon is #1, AO is #4 and Americans value USO more while Europeans value RG more.
Anyway, they are all same last 10-15 years. So this is pointless anyway.

Im not a fed fanboi by no means, and i still think the USO is a more sought after slam than RG simply because there is so few clay court specialists in the field today that the competition level at the USO is 100000x more intense than RG will see in this generation. in terms of fan favorites im guessing AO would even be higher than RG at this point in time only because, like i said, the field is so underpowered on that particular surface.
for example, rafa will almost certainly win RG, who will win AO or USO??? its 100% debatable who will win which keeps the competition level and anticipation of matches at a higher degree. not only can fed win it .. again, but Roddick is a threat, JMDP and Murray are going to show up every time there is a hardcourt slam. Rafa is still no pushover at the hardcourts. it keeps things more interesting to me as a fan watching it on tv.
