Petition to Decrease Speed of Roland Garros

It is playing like Red Grass. Hewitt and Karlovic match had 75 aces in it. Clay courts are supposed to reward defensive play. Right now I'm seeing attacking tennis work. I think they need to water the courts more and not lay it on top of a hard court. Instead a natural surface. Who is with me?

This'll happen right after they speed up Wimbledon back up :)

I will admit though, the ace count is unusual. How's the ground game? Is the serve/forehand combo that clay is supposed to negate working?

IF NAdal doesn't make the second week then you can say the courts played faster then expected

however, in 1996 they played faster then expected so it isn't that suprising... if nadal has more then one dimension then he should be able to adjust to the conditions (thats IF they are playing faster then usual)

The number one player in the world, "GOAT", and the King can apparently only play in one dimension....sad I know.

They'll probably water the courts more just before Federer has to play Blake so that Federer won't lose like he did at the Olympics...haha.

T1000's idol is not federer. Seriously, do some research before making incorrect assumptions about people. He has stated that fed is not his fav several times. WHOA 1000 posts!

I actually like the current speed of it.

(it hasn't changed, at least the fed fans have some logic behind their ideas.)

I like how people on here are so trigger happy about everything. Of course it's going to look faster when you have Querrey playing Gulbis (two big hitters), Karlovic vs. anyone b/c of his serve. It's not playing like red grass, so stop saying stupid stuff like that just to start fights and flame wars. During the Simon/Odesnik match, it played just like it has any other year. Stop putting so much important on the courts, in the end, the best player will win.

i believe next topic ur gonna start is petition to play whole season on slow clay because tennis should be more rallies and less shots nadal isnt capable of playing well

I noticed that this thread was a joke related to the wimby one, in fact I expected to see a link to the petition.

You still don't know if they sped up the courts or what.. anyway, I'm not against it, because it would be fair. If they don't sped up wimbledon as it used to be then speeding up RG would be fair. Don't you think?

Yes this is true In 2001, Wimbledon tore out all its courts and planted a new variety of groundcover. The new grass was 100% perennial rye; the old courts had been a mix of 70% rye and 30% creeping red fescue.

I would support this petition if you have un deniable proof that Roland Garros courts have been sped up. Its an undeniable fact accepted by AELTA and other soources that wimbledon grass was changed in 2001. If you can prove the same I would support your petition. I want the grand slam to keep their traditions. Roland Garros should reward endurance, patience and ground stroke skills while wimbledon should reward S&V, quicker gameplay and aggressiveness.

If this thread is meant as a joke which it probably is since you have shown there is no petition, it is quite funny. You should reward yourself by picking Rafa's butt.
