PDR Roddick GT

Been testing this put for this week. Strung with the Fed setup, VS Gut/Alu Rough. Hit with the previous Roddick version long time ago, so can't really compare. Solid racquet, really powerful from the baseline. Little unstable at times, but makes up some great spin and gigantic sweetspot. Swings very lightly as well.

4 1/2 grip too big for me though, sticking with my 320 (more spin and stabilty) and posting this for sale here.

Shell, how good are those gamma shockbusters?

Hey, sorry, just saw this. Well...it is totally personal preference. For me, I have a hard time playing without one, and I use full gut much of the time. It is just a sensation that I am comfortable with. Smaller dampeners just don't do it for me, and I have really tried. It dampens the sound, of course, but I also feel that it blocks some vibration - even if it is not really proven to do that. To each his/her own. I love them.

I feel the same as you. I have tried a long dampener similar as yours, head smartsorb. Its great because it absorbs a lot of vibrations, so the racquet feels softer and reduces shock which causes tennis elbow. My father uses one, its indispensable for his racquet since it vibrates like crazy without one.

How do you like the bag? I've been holding off on ordering one myself.

i like it a lot.. on the receipt, it say it's an 8 bag but i think 10 can be comfy as there's a bit more space in one compartment after i put all of mine in

it has a shoe pocket on one side which i never use, but suppose it's useful for other things.. there's also a tiny pocket right next to it, i keep my dampeners and grips in there.. there's also one more on the outside probably for keys/wallets or something

also has the shoulder strap as well as the backpack straps.. my buddy has the same bag without the backpack straps, but i think mine is more convient

it's not a super large size like jolly's 20 bag, but it's definitely a little larger than the typical 6 bag.. hope this helps

Racket Doctor I see.

Wow no way you guys live around my area. Aren't prices at Racket Doctor supposed to be cheaper? On their website the prices for Wilson's are still same as every other tennis store (i.e. TW), but Babolats I've bought there were a few bucks cheaper with strings and everything.

Head was a bit cheaper there, but Head stopped doing business with them..lol

Here's my bag and racquets (I have another PD on it's way and although it's fake, both are completely free and play great. The APDC is genuine.)

Last I went, they had the new Youtek racquets in stock so they have to be getting their inventory from somewhere.

No, just off their site. They still have them in the store, bc my friend said that they did. But when selling online they have to go by the manufacturers guidelines (and they have older Head racquets ;) )

shell, what a lovely Dunlop family! I've never tried Dunlops before but they look to be of very nice quality.

^^^ nice racquets! What is your current racquet and why do you like it over the others that you have there?

Yeah i figured...but i'm all the way on the other side of the country =\ also it sucks that they can't sell Head racquets anymore.

They can sell them, the problem is that they can't under sell on their site, other competitors were complaining, when you can get a K90 for 139 compared to other places (used to be 129 =/) and POG for 99, so on and so forth. It's fine though I make my way there once in a while on bus and subway, or when I spend the weekend at my friends house (he lives in Los Feliz) =D

my current racket is the PST 90. i haven't tested the aerogel yet. i like the PST over the others because (in order of importance):

1. it's the prettiest

i like it because, like the other rackets there (with teh exception of the hammer 6.2), it's midsize which makes me feel confident and pretentious. it feels good to hit with it and it doesn't feel like i'm holding something huge. it feels like the racket is an extension of my arm and i can manipulate it anyway i want. i played with the APDC once and while and it felt too big and bulky.

i've realized after playing with so many different rackets that after about an hour of hitting, you forget which racket you're playing with. obviously, going from an 85 or a 90si to 110 will feel dramatically different but i would imagine that within a headsize level (85-90), it's all the same. that's why i buy rackets that are pretty.
