Auzz, great hitting per the usual...I feel that you've actually gained a step..or few for that matter...plus the consistenty has obviously not left you. I'm looking forward to hitting a lot this summer. Marcel, not sure if you are on here, but great hitting with you as well, albeit for a few minutes.

To the other TWMACers, I'm lookin to get back into the game heavily this summer. I did hit with a few of you guys months and months back, and my apologies for falling off the map, but I'm back now. Always down to hit at Pentagon city, Quincy, or anywhere in Arlington. As Auzzie mentioned, got my mandatory first time out in almost a year blisters, but should be good to go by midweek. See you all out there soon!

Mr. JRK, anytime you want to try the clay courts in Reston, let me know. Got some visitor's passes I need to use up this summer, and you need to get ready for that slow, red Spanish clay. :)

I know some guys who run a little tennis get together in Reston on Sat mornings. If you re-send me your e-mail address, I can get you on the e-mail list.

I'd like to play this weekend, but sounds like my wife has plans this weekend. I won't know till later this week.

Still hittin with those TI rad mids! I briefly thought about demo'ing a bunch of sticks and potentially getting some new updates racqs, but then I just got too lazy. Plus these sticks still work for me!

xis, jrk, schmad - it was really really fun on saturday! i had a blast. i would have liked to play a little more but the heat was really getting to me. and i agree, jrk was definitely going easy on us. i've seen his first serve and its a killer. he was acing me so many times when we had that mini meet this past winter at s&h.

we have to play again! definitely before schmad and pp go back. i think schmad said they go back mid august? i also liked how i was afraid of schmad so i kept lobbing him and he yelled, "stop lobbing me!" hahahaha! good stuff! and you guys know that mcd's isnt that bad for you right? i only had an egg mcmuffin and 2 hash browns during the drive down to nottoway. also, eating mcdonalds makes you faster :)

xis - thanks for the link to the elytesport! i'm going to pick up some. if you come down to maryland next week, i might go out to watch but i probably will have to sit out. for some reason, i've gotten this sharp pain under my right knee? i've been icing it and it seems to help a little bit but not much. i emailed my captain this morning and told him that i couldnt play the singles matches for him this weekend. its really all my stupid fault for playing so much lately.

jrs - i'm planning to go to legg mason this year. i've never seen a professional tennis match so i'm pretty excited. we should definitely have a twmac meet up! i'd be in.

Dude, pamper that knee. It has to last you a long, long while. Sounds like an overuse issue, but still ice it some more and take some ibupropen. We have more matches to play. Bummer, though, that you can't play singles at district. You'd mop up there. :)

this weekend: xis, i'd love to play. severn peeples? there are these great courts in urbana, md (much more accessible than new market, since urbana is right off of 270). it's 4 courts, next to the pool. i played there last weekend, and we were the only ones using the courts. i know it's a hideous distance for you: google says 45 minutes from vienna. and it's still 30 minutes for me too...mostly because we just don't have very many roads out here. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&r...M2UI&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1

When we were just hitting, you had the best looking ground strokes of all of us - no offense to the other Nottoway Nuts. Your strokes are clean, efficient, accurate - you name it. I can only dream of hitting the ball that cleanly.

Your volleys need work, but that just takes repetition. Your hand-eye coordination is too good for that deficiency to continue.

Somehow, we need to get you to relax during actual games. When that happens, you'll turn 0-3 to 3-0 in a hurry.

PPL is a speed demon on the court; reminds me of me in younger, skinnier and healthy-knee days. He just needs to see more balls with different pace so he can learn to adjust his stroke accordingly. Love your enthusiasm, PPL, but quit apologizing so much. Dubs is a team effort, win or lose. That last set was nice, wasn't it? :)

Methinks TheJRK was toying with us munchkins, and Zap was right - he towered over the rest of us. We didn't see the real JRK because he was hitting nothing but second serves - and he aced me a couple of times with that one. :mad: He lobbed a lot, too, making us short guys churn our little legs like crazy. Man, he's an imposing figure at the net, all arms and legs.

You're right in every sense, Xis (I don't know about my groundies lookin' good but I'll take that compliment anyday). I need to relax during matchplay. Maybe a shot of vodka beforehand would do the trick. My volleys need extensive work. I appreciate all your comments but I think you hit the ball as clean as Mr. Agassi. I'm no clean hitter compared to you, Mr. Xis.

JRK, hit your first serves, dammit! Stop taking it easy on us.

PPL, thanks again for the string (and Gatorade). Your 1st serve improved but I hated it when you kept lobbing while I was at net! Btw, you've got a nice ride. Next time, let me hear how it sounds at 8000rpm.

New Thread - Best courts in MD/DC/VA corridor?

Criteria:
FREE
Decent people to hit with if you get stranded
Nice courts and nets etc...(obviously)
Maybe noise level or wind guards (cts near pools can often be loud, not too many wind guards @ free cts)

Just a thought - I'm in HoCo but tend to play ALL over - always looking for a new spot...

Herndon: Bready Park - Nice courts, Best lights in the area BY FAR, free during the summer - bubble over 3 courts in the winter.

sounds perfect. i'll be down there (somewhere) around 11:30 (i.e., 12:00). so are you thinking lunch, and then tennis? or tennis, and then lunch? or just tennis? or just lunch? since i like lunch and tennis equally (with good pho just edging out my crap cowardly tennis), i'd be equally happy with whatever.

have you determined your schedule for next weekend? i'm seriously thinking of withdrawing from the tournament because 1., i'm a total chickenshyt and 2., my ankle feels...not quite right. but it's mostly excuse #1. i played my friend amy last night, and i unleashed my new (almost maybe, no not even close) safina-like serve, and held my service games until i was up 5-3. but then...i lost sight of the end. :( so i lost the next two games and then won the following two, to win the set 7-5. i know i should tough it out and play in the tournament for the much-needed experience. it just so goes against my assiduously cultivated slacker lifestyle.

3. when are you going to play the wookie for the 3rd spot on the ladder thang?

overall i think the earlier dates are a better buy since it'll be less crowded and you'll get to see a ton more players

don't know dood. i was able to snatch 4 ticks for friday after i posted. JRS saw the tix and it is legit. maybe gone by now. keep on trying.

p.s are you using firefox? if so ticketmaster kept on telling me there were no tickets until i switched over to IE
