Wilson K6.1 arm issue [if you ever had some problems with this one please post]

I use to play with an Head Microgel Extreme Pro 11.8oz / 335g 100''.
Today i went to a tour and my Head strings snapped during the trip.
The only stick that i had available was my Wilson Ksixone 95 12.3oz / 349g strung with Head syngut pps at 45lbs.

My teammates saw the match and they told me that i was twice the player with the wilson. I could open crazy angles during the matches, make beautiful dropshots and serves were great two.

It raised my game to another level. I didn't play with her during 2 months because last time the racquet gaved me elbow pain.

Today i don't feel any elbow pain at all which is great as i feel my game really working with this racquet. Although i feel my upper arm muscles a little sore both the right and the left. In the tricep.
Someone had this problem when played this racquet? Did it gone away?

The K95 is both stiffer and heavier than your MG Extreme Pro---not exactly a formula for arm-friendliness.

Yes, 1pt more stiffer and more 10grams .
My Head doesn't make me soreness at all.

R.A. flex ratings are very unreliable. They only measure how a racquet flexes in the throat, not how it flexes in the hoop (head), where more flex is felt. In the hoop, the KSix-One is stiff as can be, and the MG Extreme Pro flexes a fair amount.

And, in terms of weight, 10 grams is quite a noticeable difference. The KSix-One also has a much heftier swingweight.

but i'm thinking..
Lots of people play with this racquet and don't have problems.
The anatomy is the same. My technique is medium. I would say i'm a 3.5 player and soonly 4.0.
I don't feel my tendons hurting. I feel my tricep muscle a little bit sore.

Owners of this racquet post your experience with this racquet please..
I really would appreciate as i'm in a decisive phase. I really need to stick with one racquet and this is the one that suits the gamestyle. I'm afraid that the racquet demands to much from my body. I'm on good shape 1,80 70kgs. I don't find it heavy during playing of tired. Only after few 30minutes in the end.

I play with a guy that uses the K95 when temperatures are moderate and warmer and uses the PK Redondo in the winter and when it is colder. He plays much better with the K95 but it bothers him when it's cold. He's 60 BTW.

I guess that K95 is a little to demanding for your partner. He should go to a team. I don't know your friends but 60yo is not properly an early age.
But every case is case. Last weekend i saw a 58yo nailling a 30yo with and Wilson Kblade Tour fair. The guy was hitting passing shots like a 6.0 player in the 20yo. One of his sons is a top5 seeded player of my country. The other one is Juniors champion or vice-champion of my country.

No it isn't. He has a longstanding rotator cuff injury - it was so bad for a few years that he played left-handed. Or at least tried to. This guy is athletic and in great shape. But he's scared to go under the knife. Part of the problem is that the doctors that he's been too haven't been able to exactly tell him what's wrong. It sounds like they go in and then figure it out.

The K95 18X20 may be my favorite racket of all time, but I just cannot play with it anymore due to the stiffness. It is about as bad as any frame I have ever used in that department. There is no comfort.

These things are stiff in the throat, stiff in the head, and stiff anywhere else you can have stiffness. On top of that, as mentioned, the swingweight is so high, it is a very demanding frame. Even if you're "on good shape" and don't find it heavy "during playing of tired", the thing is still probably tearing apart your arm on the insides.

I've learned the same lesson a few times and it is this; If you've had arm problems before, even once, with a certain frame, you should never use it again. It is not worth it. It is never worth it.

I will give it one more month.
If it goes on i will buy a Head Microgel Prestige MP that is more comfortable and the extra 3'' may be a bonus. Will try it first.

Agree w/ Mdubb. The ksix one is not known for arm friendliness.

Plus, its swingweight is higher than the KPS88.

By the way, how do people tell where the frame flexes?

I don't think there is a single person on this planet who can like both the K95 18X20 and the Prestige MP.

Going from the K95, the Prestige MP has nothing in common. It is significantly lighter, lacking a great dael of swingweight, and feels slightly "flimsy". It is low powered and feels mushy and I tried two totally different string combinations. I'm a huge fan of the Mid, but the MP is awful.

Nice i will put it on my demolist. Besides the prestige mid what would you suggest? A dunlop? The Prince EXO3 is not on my list since i can't afford to buy 2 of those if i like it.

My tennis elbow, though not completely recovered, has improved significantly ever since I switched to older rackets with more flexiblity, i.e., Prince Spectrum Comp 90, Yonex R22, and Pro kennex Copper Ace. I recently got a PK Kinnetic 5G and found it very arm-friendly.

I will try a hybrid posted in the stringing forum by tribunal Isospeed Baseline Spin/Gosen Synthetic Gut on the K95 at 50lbs. Let's see if i can handle it.

With k6.1 95 you can feel it. If you mishit in a serve and close to the head of the racquet or in a forehand you clearly feel the vibration in your arm and bones.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense.

The Fischer Pro no. 1 felt especially jarring when hitting up at the top.

I think the Wilson K6.1 18x20 is the best frame on the current market, yes it is very stiff thats for sure, I have been hitting with one strung with big banger original 62/60 and my wrist, elbow and shoulder are hurting but it's probably because of the string setup. I did not have any issues last year I used full poly on it @ 60 pounds but seemed to be a much softer poly, the other problem is if you encounter a problem like this, it's bound to come back unless you make a total change in the strings and drop the tension including a good week or two of a rest. I am going to start hitting with 55 by 52 hybrid poly and synth gut to see how that works, as for the microgel prestiges they are good racquets, very soft I did not have any problems playing with those, they are much more flexible I played recently with a prestige pro strung at 66 by 62 big banger rough poly setup and I did not have any problems with my arm infact it felt really good, one of few things that bother me on the head racquets is the grip shape, just doesn't do it for me :( if that wasn't the case I might be using one of them right now and from my personal opinion all three of them are great racquets, the pro the mid and the mid plus... This has turned into a book so I will end it here with this comment, if you want to have no arm problems use the microgel racquets, I would not buy into any kind of k6.1 team version I think it's a terrible racquet, but thats just me, good luck on your search.

This thing is weird..
I woke at 9 o'clock to hit with a partner today. My arms were hurting really bad. Maybe because i sleep with the chest turned down and my arms under the pillows. He texted me saying he won't go. I went back to sleep till 12 o'clock and now i am pain free.
But i'm almost sure that in a few minutes the pain will come back.

You might give the KPS88 a try if you can handle the higher static weight and the smaller head size. I've never had that jarring feeling with the KPS88, even on framed shots. I do know what it feels like though - try a big mishit on the Pure Drive Roddick - I had one of those a while ago and my wrist and forearm felt sore for about 30 minute.

I'm currently using the 90, some soreness in my forearm only. As long as your arm isnt in pain, you're fine, soreness isn't to big a deal. Just get some rest and if it still hurts consult your local pro and/or doctor.

Practiced for 9 hours today an no pain on elbow. A little soreness in my right wrist.
I corrected my 2HB which wasn't being made properly.
The tendon of the back of my left shoulder hurt a little bit. But i'm got to find what's causing hit. I think i'm contracting my muscles when hitting 2HB instead of make a relaxed swing.

I actually switched to this racquet because I would get more elbow pain after playing with Yonex RDIS mid ( both strung with poly) . You may need to experiment more with different strings . I know one thing : my elbow and Luxilon strings is a bad combination.

I have to say that this topic is just about the matter I am dwelling on for the last days.
I got a k6.1 about 1,5 years ago. After a few weeks, I acquired rotator cuff injury. Then I stopped playing with it. But despite playing with my old racquet, the pain persisted. After anti inflammatory medication, I feel alright now.
Last week, a friend of mine took my k6.1 and restrung it. He said it was much better with new strings. I played a match with it. Some %50 increase in performance it added, I think. No pain had I during and after this single match. Without any doubt, it asks for strong muscles including even the lower extremities.
It is clear that it has prominent pros &cons.
I am not sure if I 'd try again and if I could make emergency landing before the plane crashes.
Dear friends,
What do you think of it? Do you think muscle exercises and a softer technique might prevent another injury this time?

Today i'm only experiencing wrist pain. I have to correct my service i guess..
as for you sinnetklat which strings did you had before and which you got now?

Original one was Wilson Sensation. This one, I am trying to learn. (A friend made it restrung.)
Sexpistol: As a former k6.1 sufferer, I offer that if you have pain playing with this stick and if you can't eliminate it, DON'T insist. This is what I am gonna do this time. In case of pain, I will give k6.1 away.

Ya, exactly. Trust me, the last thing you want to do is force using a racquet, string, shoe, or whatever it may be just because it's your favorite in some way other than the damage it's causing you.

I've tried to force myself to play with 12oz racquets, but for some reason my elbow starts acting up every single time without fail, so I've accepted that I won't be able to play tennis with a 12oz+ racquet. And in reality, it's really no big deal.

When you're constantly in pain, you will come to a point where you rejoice at the fact that it doesn't have to be that way and that you can find something that works for you and play tennis for many many many years to come.

Can you tell which racquet you use now? Are you pleased with that?
Thanks.

i'm doing it. First time i used it i had a major TE, then used again and had pain again but not thath bad. This time is only soreness and a little wrist pain.
I'm fit but i guess i wasn't ready for such a heavy racquet. I tryied DUNLOP Aerogels, Head Prestiges, Head Youteks (Radical&Speed), Kblade, EXO3, Babolat Pure Storm and my game doesn't fit with the racquet.
I would like to try the K90, some tecnifibres and yonexs but i really don't know where to get some of those.

Racquet+strings+leathergrip+overgrip=huge weight

interesting i played with this racket and had arm pain and soreness in my forearm the very next day. thought i was just tired. played with another racket didnt hurt my arm played with the wilson again and it came back

I play with the K6.1 95 (18x20) at the moment it's strung with MSV focus hex (mains 56) and wilson ultra syn gut (crosses 58). I've recently been leading it up and have now got 3 grams of lead at 3,9 and 12 o'clock.

The racket is almost balanced now and is starting to give me tiny twinges in my elbow (golfer's elbow rather than tennis elbow).

I really like the extra weight in the head and don't want to take it off, will adding weight in the handle (making more headlight) help to make the racquet more arm friendly?

Thanks

I had the same problem with K95. Moved to AG200, problem solved...

As for playability, i can say they both have the same potential

your racquet feels stiff because of the very dense string pattern it has. It you want it to feel softer then you have to use the thinnest string you can afford, since they are going to break faster, though with a 18x20 racquet strings last fairly long.

i hear good things about this racket except the stiffness. i use a KBT and im interested in this, would i like this racket?

also gd thread, as i as most players get this sort of arm injury once in a while when playing alot.

lastly dampeners, try the wilsons red or black lol but thats boring i guess so try one of the wilsons mix and match type like the lightning bolt or use del potro's clover/shamrock wilson one which is quite cool.

Never used the KBlade Tour, but the 6.1 95 is indeed stiff and one of the reasons I am looking to switch away from it. My wrist has really flared up this summer and my shoulder (which has hurt for several years BTW) has gotten a little worse throughout the summer. I'm looking at slightly lighter more arm friendly racquets even though I love the way my Wilson plays...I just don't want to do any serious damage to my arm. I love playing too much.
