Hey yall- just got back from College park out there in Merlyn (that's Maryland for Maryland Peeps). Got a good solid 3.5+ hours of tennis in.
Played the dude from the base on indoor clay. Started slow but picked up the pace. Beat him 6-3, 6-0, 5-1 - we didn't complete that last set as I had to run to meet Zap. Have to give the guy props, he said he's 50 and he moves very well. I couldn't push and had to go for my shots and hit well. I'd rate him a high 3.0 - low 3.5. He said I should be a 4.0 - go figure.
Have to say the College Park Tennis Center is AMAZING. Wish I had a few $mill - I'd open up one like it in VA out my way. The indoor clay was so-so. Seemed like loose dirt on top of a fairly hard surface. It was a bit dry and slippery. But it was indoors.
Next up was Zap. I pulled up and zap was hitting with some dude who was slamming the ball. Zap was holding his own it seemed, but the guy was hitting a heavy ball. After moving my car away from metered parking ($1 for 30 min?????) I got on court.
I'd already played about 3 sets, so I was hurting. Zap was hitting well, but his serve was a bit off since we didn't do a proper warm-up. It was either and DF or ace. We played two sets. I was too hurting to play a real ladder match. It was fun though. Zap even pulled out the under-hand serve.
Zap - we'll hit again.
