re the meets, it seems to me its always teh MD peeps going to VA, so i say teh VA peeps go to MD. but it seems like its just mini meets, so thats that.
more improtantly, got to hook up with the striker again tonight. basically, he played at 55% and still crushed me. easily. like hammer to egg. i did double fault like 24times though. i have never ever served so badly. sad thing is, it wouldnt have made much difference. all i was missing was raisin on my bagel
great great fun. loved it. will have to do it again, and this time make it a ladder match!
Dude, so far I've been to Wonderland, Wooly mammoth park and Urbana. Lady Topaz also went to Wonderland and Wooly. And I offered to trek to MD again this weekend, Severn Park or somewhere else reasonable. Recips - Allie was coming to VA one weekend that got rained out and PPL made it to Nottoway a couple of weekends ago. Now MD peeps may have visited other VA peeps recently, but not me.
Wot else ya want me to do? Not gonna go to B'more, just not gonna do it. Anywhere else will be considered, but not B'more.

The Wakefield mini-meet was started last year since we had a number of VA peeps that wanted to hit. The number of courts and it's proximity to food (alcohol) made it an ideal place to get 6-8 people together (at one time we had almost 12 people I think) to hit around.
Sometimes MD people showed up, usually hollywood, but most times it was just VA people and Sappy (our one DC representative).
It seems like the MD folks tend to get together on a regular basis to hit around in their neck of the woods too so it's all good.
The heartache comes when trying to find a middle-ground location for everyone in the MAC to meet at. Most people don't mind driving but I rank driving like this on my "Do not like list":
1. Bin Laden
2. Driving
3. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures
4. The Dutch
5. People that wear brown flip flops with jeans
6. Azzuri
7. People who think Jethro Tull is just someone in the band
8. When people pronounce "schedule" with a soft "c"
9. Fat people that get the closest parking spot right up front
10. The movie "Mac and Me"

easy, tiger. i was sincere in my thanks re: your driving. and i was just trying to be helpful about suggesting columbia over odenton. and besides, i wouldn't be so trigger-happy if i were you...sup may request a picture of that nose you're bent on cutting off sooner or later.
what's with the hostility anyway? have we started the North vs. South battle already? i attributed jrk's ranting last night to one too many peach-mango mojtos (i'm a space cadet because google maps says that woodley gardens is 20 miles from arlington, which is well within his 30-mile radius? really?).

I wasn't ranting... I was just surprised that you and Xis were trying to go through so much trouble to find a location that would suit my 30 mile umbilical cord. I thought you guys had already chosen a location, I just wanted to know what it was and I didn't feel like looking back 20 pages in the thread to find it.
I was looking at it from the perspective that I was crashing your quaint little tennis get-together in the countryside... I was gonna show up on my Harley with my two pitbulls and guns looking like that crazy dude from Raising Arizona. <Sappy please insert appropriate picture, Imageshack is blocked at work for me>

In other news... I am playing my first work tournament. I was supposed to play two matches back to back today at lunch:
First match - opponent injured in third game and had to withdraw. This was going to be a good match. I found my kick serve, but this guy had no problem getting everything I threw at him back in play. Crafty slice and dicer but with moderate pace.
Second match - opponent defaults

Yea, I would take lunch eat and play WOW while ponding dew. Id get home from work and play till 2 am while pounding dew. Everyonce in a while i would drink pepsi vanilla to mix up the dew. and of course weekends it was beer instead of dew.
I played anarchy online before WOW and that game was better IMO. I played WOW after I met a dude in QATAR and joined his guild.
Then My lease ran out and Packed my comp up for 7 months. When I fianlly got my compuetr up I logged into WOW and thought to myself
"WTF have you done for the past year and a half."
The I was going to sell all my gold and possibly my char. But the account got hacked and I didnt have any gold. And now a lv 60 is a chump in that game".

I did get hooked on COD Modern Warfare during "Fragmas" of 07. My wife headed home (Botswana) during Christmas to see the fam so my bro came over and we played COD MW for about 48 hours with a few sleep/eat breaks.

speaking of dating, you know whats the worst part about dating? the massive amount of money that you waste. i've been in 2 long term relationships, each about 2 years, and in both of those, i've spent a lot of money on those girls. i mean i'm sorta an old fashioned guy and i think the guy should pay for outtings. but every now and then, it'd be kinda nice if the girl offered to pay. a friend of mine in college told me, that it'd be cheaper just to get a prostitute. haha!

I'm supposed to be at the beach this weekend...just not sure if/when I'm leaving yet.
This here may be the issue that we're stumbling upon...google maps may say 20 miles, but to transverse those 20 miles will take at least an hour due to traffic. I live 8 measly miles from my work, and it has never taken me *less* than 35 minutes. Traffic here sucks.
Now, if it is a 'big' meet-up, then that is another story...because you'd assume that #1 - you're going to be there for a while, #2 - there will be food and drink, and #3 - there will be bathrooms. I think Nitefly was headed in the right direction with his thoughts on Severn Valley for the next big North and South meet-up.
Just my take on the whole thing.
